JoeBobTheGreat The reason spectral procession is so good is that you get an amazing amount of value. If you curve out with T1 Sister, T2, Honor, T3 Procession, you just gained 3 life and got 3 2/2 flyers for 3 mana. It's difficult for a lot of decks to deal with that many creatures.

The problem with Brimaz is that you sometimes don't untap with him, so he can just be killed instantly, or killed before he actually impacts the board. He also dies to Abrupt Decay , so that's why instead of Brimaz in the sideboard, I have Hero of Bladehold , which I think is a more powerful card. Brimaz is also expensive, so there's that.

well, its a solid build for sure, great work, have you thought of adding in some different lands though? you dont need all or any of these but have you considered: Flagstones of Trokair , Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx , or Emeria, The Sky Ruin . Idk if this would be too slow, but play testing a Rhox Faithmender might be interesting.

Sharkhuntr I can immediately judge that Rhox Faithmender is too slow. 4 mana for basically no board state seems pretty weak to me.

Yes, I did consider Flagstones of Trokair , however, I didn't want to spend an extra $40 on a land which gets screwed by Blood Moon . There's not really much point for it, as this isn't a Smallpox deck.

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is just too slow in modern, unless in green, and Emeria, The Sky Ruin is never going to be active. I'd rather have Sword of Light and Shadow in the sideboard, because it's not always good, and when it is, it's faster than Emeria, while also providing other bonuses.

A well thought out deck and pretty cheap as far as modern goes. +1

Nice deck although what do you think about Ghostly Prison ?

November 7, 2014 4:35 a.m.

JexInfinite says... #6

Naosu I don't think it's that necessary. Usually, Ghostly Prison is used against aggressive creature decks, which we are already matched really well against. Why would I use a sideboard slot for a card which makes our good matchups better, rather than our bad matchups playable? That's generally what I think about when building a sideboard. That said, I must find a replacement for Hero of Bladehold. It really isn't that good of a boost against control now that I have Archangel of Thune.

Cathars' Crusade could be fun in this deck even as a 1 or 2 of.

JexInfinite says... #8

Jeggard I already have three. They're far better and called Archangel of Thune.

But it is only 1 counter with the low cost for most of your creatures your stuff will get bigger then 1 at a time but its just my opinion. Still looks interesting since im not a modern player i dont know exactly whats good and whats bad.

If you play Archangel of Thine onto a board with any of the soul sisters (like Soul Warden or Soul's Attendant) you instantly gain life, and instantly get a buff. With 2 sisters down you gain two and get 2 +1/+1 counters, with 3 it goes up to 3 etc. This is far, far better than Cathars' Crusade

Flagstones of Trokair Should be standard issue in mono white modern decks now with the new rulings on legendary.

landstalker10 Does it serve any purpose, though? Otherwise, it's just unnecessary money on a card that can get hit by Fulminator Mage. It doesn't do enough in this deck to justify the cost.

Increases card draw probability that you dont get mana flooded. It also nearly secures that you will have a land in play at all times. Thats a huge issue on low mana decks like yours.

1-2 land destruction can set you back 3-4 turns and thats end game in modern.

I find that I can function really well on 2-3 lands for quite a while. Of course, 4+ is ideal. I suppose if I ever get hold of them, they can go in, but the deck thinning is a lot more unreliable than fetchlands, so I won't have them as a priority.

Otherworldly Journey can blink bad or good guys and trigger the sisters... Maybe instead of Honor of the Pure. Whoever blinks out loses counters, of course... So maybe not. Just a thought!

JexInfinite says... #17

karot Generally life isn't an issue, and against the decks where it is, giving a guy +1/+1 is really weak. Honor of the Pure, on the other hand, is an unconditional buff which avoids the majority of mainboard removal. I don't really need to abuse ETB effects, I just need consistency, and a way to deal with threats, which Ranger of Eos and Path to Exile provide.

I like Honor of the Pure, however; you might trade one out for Spear of Heliod. The destroy feature can aid against trample decks. or unblockable. As for unblockable and hexproof. Well a sidebar of Glaring Spotlight never over estimate that hexproof unblockable that it give you as well.

How often do you Sideboard out your Auriok Champions? Seems like it would be the easiest thing to take out. And since you take it out (only in a few matchups of course), is 6 ETB -> +1 life enough for you?

November 28, 2014 8:29 a.m.

JexInfinite says... #20

Centaureayl Generally, I don't like going below 8 sisters, and only need to bring in 2 cards, but there are some matches that I have boarded all 4 of them out. The format's removal is basically all Lightning Bolt, Electrolyze and Abrupt Decay. None of this can hit Auriok Champion which makes it favourable over Soul Warden sometimes. I've more often taken out a Soul Warden in slower matches which have black or red.

Against Tron, you can take out anything which isn't Martyr of Sands + Serra Ascendant , because everything is useless apart from them unless you get a T2 Stony Silence.

I know you may not agree, However, Brave the Elements and Squadron Hawk have won me so many games. Brave for the ability to save my cards in that crucial early game moment, and Squadron for recovery. So many times I have dropped a Hawk, then a Ranger of Eos after a board wipe only to be in the same position before the board cleansing, and yet they have nothing. Time and time again this happens. Hawk is really a powerful card. Certainly worthy of more than common status.

landstalker10 Squawk is super powerful, that's for sure. A 4 for 1 is amazing value, but when it's common for the opponent to have Electrolyze, it loses out on half its value instantly.

I feel that Brave the Elements is amazing on the ground, but not that many people run flying creatures, so blocking Archangel of Thune and Serra Ascendant is not happening. There have been a few situations where I would like a Brave, but then I just draw Archangels and my dudes can withstand any attack.

November 28, 2014 6:47 p.m.

landstalker10 says... #23

I rarely if ever use Brave to save cards in a swing or block. Instead I use it just as you pointed out. A lot of players I run into at least sidebar Pyroclasm or similar dmg wipes. And again, sniping there snipe is HUGE. Since most people do not run a whole lot of them.

November 29, 2014 3:36 a.m.

landstalker10 says... #24

I would strongly advice you dropping 1-2 Plains for 1-2 Brave the Elements.

November 29, 2014 3:38 a.m.

JexInfinite says... #25

landstalker10 I've been considering going to 23 land, but 22 seems right, with Path to Exile being the best removal against us, ramping us into Archangel. Certainly not worth going down on land, but if Archangel somehow becomes bad, I can drop 1 for a Brave.

I'm in the process of finding a Cavern of Souls, as most of my guys are human, and I love screwing over blue when not playing blue. If it performs well, I could add another, but 1 seems correct with the amount of relevant non-human cards.
