Maybeboard

Animar deck based heavily on Zandl's Animar, Soul of Elements.

Card Breakdown (I apologize for these not being organized by card type, but I'm too lazy to take them out of the alphabetical order in which they currently reside):

AEthersnipe: Can be used to bounce enemy creatures or my own creatures, like Fierce Empath. Evoke early for an Animar counter or cast normally later in the game.

Acidic Slime: Great removal with a body? Heck yes.

Alchemist's Refuge: Who wouldn't want to flash in an Artisan of Kozilek for GU?

Alpha Authority: Excellent protection for Animar.

Apocalypse Hydra: X costs are reduced by Animar. This thing is great removal/beatdown in both early and late game. It's even better with proliferate.

Aquastrand Spider: The only graft creature that will ever get the chance to put a counter on Animar, so it's a great accelerant. It also gives my creatures reach.

Asceticism: Protection of the best kind for everything I own.

Artisan of Kozilek: Potentially cast for free and gives me recursion? I'll take five.

Avenger of Zendikar: I've always wanted to be able to use this guy, and he works pretty well with the +1/+1 counter subtheme of the deck.

Blasphemous Act: Best board wipe for this deck. With Vigor on the field it is a very one-sided board wipe.

Champion of Lambholt: Gets very big, very quickly in this deck. And it makes everything unblockable.

Clone: Copies Vigor, kills commanders, does whatever I freaking want it to do.

Cloudstone Curio: I can reuse my ETB effects and put more counters on Animar? Great!

Contagion Engine: Prolif + one-sided board wipe.

Crowned Ceratok: My creatures generally tend to have plenty of +1/+1 counters on them, this gives them all trample.

Cytoplast Root-Kin: Every graft creature grows my army. This one does it in a way that is just that much better.

Cytospawn Shambler: Graft, gives stuff trample.

Darksteel Plate: Protection for Animar.

Deadwood Treefolk: Recurison for cheap.

Death's Presence: When my creature dies, Animar eats it. I like. Even better with Blasphemous Act.

Draining Whelk: UU: Counter target spell and get a massive creature.

Etherium-Horn Sorcerer: Two counters for the price of one? Thank you very much. Add Cloudstone Curio for ridiculous antics.

Faultgrinder: "R: Destroy target land, put a 4/4 into play and a counter on Animar."

Fertilid: Potentially reusable ramp that also puts a counter on Animar. Pure win.

Fierce Empath: Tutor for pretty much anything in my deck. And it's a creature.

Forced Adaptation: Animar accelerator.

Forgotten Ancient: More counters for Animar. Many, many more.

[[gyre sage]: Ramp with a growing body.

Fungal Behemoth: See above. Also is generally ridiculously large when it hits the field.

Garruk's Packleader: Creature-based card draw.

Helium Squirter: Is a flying Animar a terrifying thought? Yes.

Hoard-Smelter Dragon: Artifact hate on a powerful, evasive body. Also costs two mana.

Increasing Savagery: Accelerating Animar Always.

Inexorable Tide: Prolif everything. Gets stupid with Grafters.

Intet, the Dreamer: Free card casting on a great body. I love this dragon.

[[Alpha Authority]: Excellent protection for Animar.

Llanowar Reborn: A land with graft, I wonder why I would want that?

Molten Primordial: zealous conscript's big brother; aka, instant army.

Mosswort Bridge: As zandl likes to say, "Playing Green?"

Mulldrifter: Evoke early for card advantage and a counter. Play later for all that and a creature.

Oran-Rief, the Vastwood: Yet more counters for everyone.

Plaxcaster Frogling: Graft and shroud cannon.

Primordial Sage: Creature based card draw.

Reliquary Tower: If I get even one of my draw engines, I tend to get more cards than I have mana for. This makes that not a problem.

Riku of Two Reflections: Copy Vigor, Gyre Sage, Consecrated Sphinx, Blasphemous Act...

Rite of Replication: Who doesn't want 6 Artisan of Kozilek's?

Rubblebelt Raiders: Relatively cheap, fast-growing beater.

Sakura-Tribe Elder: Creature ramp.

Saphire Drake: Get Animar, if not my entire army, into the air? Yes please.

Master Biomancer: Counters anyone?

Simic Manipulator: This guy will be evolving often in this deck, which means lots of Mind Control for me.

Simic Sky Swallower: 7/7 Flying, Shroud for 2 mana.

Slithermuse: As a green player, I tend to empty my hand a lot.

Soul of the Harvest: Creature based card draw.

Sphinx of Uthuun: A better Fact or Fiction on a flying body.

Spinerock Knoll: Yet another way to cast my creatures for free.

Spitebellows: Evoke early for removal and a counter; cast later for a beater, a counter, and probably some removal.

Sporeback Troll: Graft, protects Animar.

Swiftfoot Boots: Protection for Animar.

Sylvan Primordial: Removal and ramp to the max.

Thrummingbird: Prolif.

Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar: Card advantage.

Ulvenwald Tracker: Reusable removal, and I'm pretty sure there isn't much that can beat Animar in a fight.

Vigean Graftmage: Graft, untaps Gyre Sage, and gives Animar vigilance.

Vigor: Did someone say counters? Fun with Blasphemous Act.

Viral Drake: Prolif.

Yavimaya Elder: Creature ramp and card draw.

Zealous Conscripts: "R: Steal an enemy commander and beat its owner upside the face."

Bant Panorama, Naya Panorama, Jund Panorama, Grixis Panorama: Because of color-identity technicalities, these are actually legal in a commander deck. Which is good because they are way cheaper than their Zendikar equivalents. I don't run Esper Panorama, because that would be worse than just running an Island.

Sideboard represents cards that I will include in an instant, if I ever get the cash to procure them.

Suggestions

Updates Add

Inexorable Tide + Novijen Sages: I used to think the sages were the worst graft creatures, but being able to continually play a creature, graft a counter onto it, and then proliferating every other +1/+1 on every other creature I have is fantastic, and it gives me plenty of counters to use to draw more creatures.

Blasphemous Act + Vigor: Everything dies, except my creatures. They get an extra 13 added to their power and toughness. Works even better when I have a copy of Vigor via Riku of Two Reflections, Clone or Rite of Replication.

Etherium-Horn Sorcerer + Cloudstone Curio: Cast Sorcerer for RU, cascade into a creature, bounce sorcerer to my hand. Lather, rinse, repeat.
