@GeneralFluffy: I'm Definitely taking the Omenspeaker for consideration and the Jace is better than Steam Augury ; but as for Mizzium Mortars , I think the card is too limited to creatures and I try to focus my deck on Instants'. Turn / Burn can take down any type of creature and can target players.

True true. I like Omenspeaker because it's a two drop that can protect you long enough for the control to really start.
I've actually seen Turn and Burn used to handle the Gods of Theros, and I like it. I'm a control player, and control decks are all I can really build successfully. First deck I ever built was Izzet control and burn. Kind of like this, but without the Jace.
If you'd like, check out my Grixis deck Grixis Control (FNM Ready)
I've been tweaking it for about a month now, and finally got around to put it up on tapped out. Let me know what you think. It finished 5th at my FNM yesterday.
+1 for control.

should put in some mass control either Mizzium Mortars or Anger the gods but the later would make guttersnipe and the pyromancer dead from the fallout but the other would be perfect to help the field late game

Satyr Nyx Smith is an interesting choice, why'd you choose to go with him? Solely for the tokens? Bc i don't see them living for long enough to give you a decent amount. I could be wrong though.

@matto89 Satyr Nyx-Smith is great against control decks, especially if we're bouncing/removing eachother's creatures, I want to try to at least do some damage to make my mana well spent before a board wipe comes along. I tried to build this deck to keep a maximum of 1 creature on the battlefield (so I won't lose from card advantage). I know that sounds kind of counterproductive to my Keranos, but I really only use him in long games for control, that's why I only kept 1 because he's legendary. I use my smaller burn spells to stall against aggro decks.

Have you played this deck? I'm going to build it on xmage later today and I'll play it against some people, I'll give you some feedback then

I own it yes, it does great against control decks and against most aggro. AEtherspouts is kind of my luck card when playing against aggro. my Satyr Nyx-Smith is still a bit iffy, I may have to replace a couple, but so far, I haven't had any ideas to replace it with until the new set comes out.

I'm looking for a nice cheap deck for FNM since I'm on a low budget and this seems nice. I have this thought out right now: Std Counterburning v2.0 (props to Hills)

I think you can add some Negate in your sideboard because cards like Chord of Calling , Despise , Utter End unless you feel Dissolve hits all of it easily enough then disregard.

zephlyn7790 - Scry isn't very strong in this deck, and for the most part, when I play spells, I try to get them in the graveyard, So unless its really good, enchantments aren't very necessary.
SultaiMage - Actually I did have Negate in the mainboard, however I tried to get this deck ready against aggro, so negate wasn't as useful, and by the time I would counter a noncreature spell, I would have enough mana for something like Mindswipe . The only main cards I worry about are Raise the Alarm and Launch the Fleet which could be easily eliminated with Arc Lightning .
I'm still thinking about delve abilities for blue, but that would reduce instant/sorcery counts for Spellheart Chimera . Should I replace it with Monastery Swiftspear ?

Spellheart Chimera gives you evasion , Monastery Swiftspear will get stomped by polukranos and Wall of Frost

end00196 - I've considered Anger of the Gods before, but now that I think about it, its a good idea. thanks!

Never thought about this kind of deck before, +1I have also an izzet deck, go check it out Power of artifacts!
September 25, 2014 3:11 p.m.
What about Circle of Flame ? Even if only as a sideboard card for the aggro matchup. It can really defuse anybody depending on smaller creatures (and early indications are that black aggro is gonna be a thing).

Because your playing nonstandard I'd say put in Lightning Bolt definitely 4 of them. Check out mine for example Blue/red counter and burn

@Likestospoon Actually this deck will be standard after the new set khans of Tarkir rotates in. if you Notice in the description and title its post rotation. Obviously lightning bolt would be easily in if it was standard, but Electrolyze and Turn / Burn or Fire/Ice works much better in an Izzet deck.

@turnyouover I didn't know there was a new set coming out. Nor do I know much about magic honestly. Thank you for the tip. +1

Have you thought about Jace, the Living Guildpact ? Get that graveyard full faster. You'd never use the -8, but the +1 and -3 could help. Also might be a good idea to splash white in just for cards like Banishing Light .

turnyouover says... #22
I have thought about it, however Jace is really weak against aggro/ramp decks, and overall does not provide card advantage like the previous jaces. I thought about splashing white in too, however the synergy doesn't work well with Spellheart Chimera and the lands would add in another $100+. This deck has strong control as it is and can play against most creature decks.

Then I can't think of anything to add aside from adjusting number of copies for preference reasons.

Might I suggest and play set of Stormbreath Dragon for your sideboard

Steam Augury : Bad. Just bad.I would rather do Epic Experiment in the mainboard.Your deck dies to aggro. You need a low cost field wipe. Also you may want to consider taking out the Young Pyromancer for 4x Omenspeaker because the scry trigger is wonderful. Plus Pyromancer dies to almost anything. You need a field wipe of some sort. So Anger of the Gods should replace the cancels.I would consider trying to pick up a playset of Jace, Architect of Thought , as he is quite literally the best card in the format right now. +1 reads "Slow down aggros and buy time", -2 reads "Draw cards to get hand advantage", and -8 reads "take their best cards and put them on your field"
SUGGESTIONS:Mainboard: -4 Steam Augury , -4 Young Pyromancer , -4 Cancel +3 Anger of the Gods , +3 Omenspeaker , +3 Jace, Architect of Thought , +3 Mizzium Mortars
Sideboard:+3 Epic Experiment , +1 Mizzium Mortars
