A B/R Vampire Deck. Cheap. Consistent. Best of all, like infect, this deck doesn't destroy your wallet to build!
Pretty cut and dry, but performs exceptionally well, because I believe flyers are not very common in most standard decks.
Q:
Dark Favor
?
A: I know, a very uncommon card (common, no pun), but I got a kick out of reading it for the first time. This deck runs quick,so it's a plus. I believe it works well with my flying combination of hurt, especially the Vampire Nighthawk
Q: Why 2 of Blood Artist?
A: My creature CMC isn't very low, so the ability of the artist isn't as effective versus running him in other decks, such as zombies, where he is an allstar.
Q: Why don't you run any burns or Stromkirk Noble?
A: Any non-B/R or non-black card takes away from my focus on Vampire Nocturnus, who is the all-star.
Q: 4 Cavern of Souls will definitely hurt your noncreature mana!
A: This has happened, I don't think I can help that, but it isn't a major issue, since the noncreatures are all low CMC, so they can get pulled off delayed.
Q: 2 Bloodline Keeper
?
A: Another big guy to run. I don't want 4x Vampire Nocturnus and Bloodline Keeper
, because the deck would be too slow. I believe Bloodline is best off in control, but he rocks when he can come out with already 5 vampires as Lord of Lineage
!
Q: Really, Bump in the Night?!
A: Again, gotta go fast. But, this card has that early game blow that can devastate, and even be the game's win. I can't see a replacement to that.
Q: Why not run Olivia Voldaren or Falkenrath Aristocrat?
A: I do love the Aristocrat, but he couldn't cut it. The 4 drops of doom have been filled, and having more would jeopardize my luck of land consistency. As for Olivia, I just don't like the card at all. I think she belongs in Grixis, because of how slow she runs. I don't need to be pinging low drop creatures to death to buff her up when my creatures already fly over armies.
