You should run Surrakar Spellblade it would help with Card Draw. Now to make Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind have more power I suggest Curiosity , make it go infinite in a way to kill one or two opponents late game lol. From the recent set Shadows Over Innistrad this card Brain in a Jar would work wonders for you deck in my opinion as well. seeing how many sorcery's and instants you have, and come on casting any good sorcery on your opponents turn in so good feelings.... lolAnother card i would suggest to keep the budget theme is Epic Experiment Seems like this deck would love that kind of spell lol. Caged Sun is another card that would go great in this deck and it is not that expensive either Money wise so it would stay in budget range.

I would also bring you land count to 37 instead of 35 just because you want that land for more spell casting and your blue regardless you being aggro or control you need land.

When i saw this commander i reeally enjoy what she did and i play her for tiny leader and she is crazy good lol and now in big commander she looks good to XD Love the build XD

Thank you for the suggestions! I'm still toying around with Niv-Mizzet. I wouldn't want to do an infinite combo though as my playgroups really small/casual fun. ;) Cool concept though! I'll look into Surrakar Spellblade, Brain in a Jar and Caged Sun for sure.

Nagoto AHH i see with your play group but also it is only one combo like that out of 99 cards so you know it wouldnt be that "OP" or mean to play it. It would in my opinion give your play group some cool eye popping moments and some funny laughs and stuff lol.and Surrakar Spellblade and brain in a jar and caged sun is a good add in for sure.

I know it's not a wizard, but Curious Homunculus Flip is a great way to make your spell's cheaper. The same can be said for Jace's Sanctum, and it let's you know what Jori En is drawing you. As for getting more use out of drawing, Sphinx's Tutelage is a fun way to make one person hate you more than you think. Other than that, great deck. I've always loved red blue, especially when its a non-counter burn spellslinger.

I almost forgot. Docent of Perfection Flip is a must if you intend on going wizard tribal. Hope this helps.

Ajuntoson Thank you for the suggestions! I'll test them out for sure.

Jori-En is actually many a UR-artifact players go-to right now. The only one better is Nin, the Pain Artist.
I'd suggest searching tappedout for lists of jori-en tagged with artifacts if you're really committed to that.

I've searched a few NewHorizons and their doesn't seem to be many. Let alone in my budget. I think I'll try using this deck as a shell. Keep the landbase + mana rocks + control/cycle spells. Then cut what I need to and make artifacts/artifact creatures the main win con? I'm not sure. Can't wait for Kaladesh though!

Leyline of Anticipation and Vedalken Orrery. They let you really abuse jori's draw ability and the orrery falls in with your artifact theme.
As for kaladesh updates
Hope this helps :)

Gabe_The_Controller Thank you for the suggestions! I'm very excited for Kaladesh once I get my hands on some cards. =)

Expropriate Pretty much wins multiplayer games by itself;
Echo Mage and Twincast if you fancy copying spells meant to be played only once like Expropriate, also greatly increase damage done by spells like Banefire.
Braid of Fire is also pretty fun, and Spelltwine is amazing in mizzix

Would Sphinx of the Final Word fit in here? I've got her in my blue control deck, much to the chagrin of my opponents :)

NV_1980 My apologies I haven't been on here recently!
I actually ran Sphinx of the Final Word in one of my previous versions of the deck. My play group doesn't really play counter magic (outside of myself) so it wasn't seeing much use. Depending on your meta though it can be wonderful.
I'm currently in the process of redoing this list to test out The Locust God. We'll see how that goes though. =)

Kilrane I own Arjun, the Shifting Flame and am for sure considering him. My only hesitation is his cost and inability to choose if I do the trigger. For sure on the radar though!
Mindmoil - Ive never seen this card before. Very cool but same thing with Arjun! High cost, I can't reduce creature or enchants. If I need more wheel effects and I have the room to include them I'll test them out.
Thank you for the suggestions! =)

Some fun things to add might be Fevered Visions or Goblin Bombardment. Another good card would be Thousand-Year Elixir, because you could tap Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind to draw a card, create an insect, sac the insect to Ashnod's Altar to generate 2 mana, pay Thousand-Year Elixir's cost to untap Niv, etc. You could also go infinite with Mind Over Matter: tap Niv to draw a card, deal damage to an opponent, discard a card to untap Niv, and continue to deal infinite damage.
Good build so far, looks like a lot of fun!

AmazingGrace15 Thank you for the suggestions!
Fevered Visions is for sure something I'm keeping an eye on. I'm probably going to cut the extra token generators Young Pyromancer, Docent of Perfection Flip and Talrand, Sky Summoner for more draw power.
Goblin Bombardment is interesting. It's a nice way around Propaganda and other things like that. I'll try it out!
Thousand-Year Elixir I'm not sure if I could make it consistent if only because I'm not going to get Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind in my hand or on the board every game. The deck is 100% focused on the commander. Firemind is more of a turn 8 or 9 "My commanders been removed somehow and I can't recast" back up plan.
"Good build so far, looks like a lot of fun!" - Thank you!

Have you thought about Reality Shift instead of Turn//Burn or Pongify the exile comes in handy to get rid of pesky indestructible critters.
August 5, 2017 5:28 p.m.
pyroblade5 - Interesting card! My group doesn't generally have indestructible but if it ever becomes a problem I'll keep Reality Shift in mind. Thank you for the suggestion.

Goblin Bombardment is beautiful if you have a ton of locusts out and someone plays a boardwipe. You can just burn them out in response.
Also, Goblin Bombardment lets you get the Locust God into your graveyard if someone plays a Path to Exile or Swords to Plowshares, so you can avoid the commander tax and get him back at the next end step.

gawain23 - Thanks for the advice! Goblin Bombardment seems to be strong and versatile for my list. Do you have any advice on what you would look to cut to make room for it?
I'm honestly thinking of cutting the extra token generators Talrand, Sky Summoner and Docent of Perfection Flip due to how reliable getting Locust God out turn 5 is.
