Looking pretty good.
I'd only recommend Coat of Arms and Trepanation Blade. The first is almost a must for tribal decks and the second will mill your opponent to give that man +1/+1s which is nice.

I have both, the problem I have with 'Arms is it works better in a Go Wide strategy, while this deck is a Go Tall one. Since I have only one copy of it I have it in my EDH tokens deck. Otherwise I totally agree it's a must for tribal decks, and were I to have taken this deck down that road with, say, Mirri as my commander, I'd definitely be running it.

As for the Trepanation Blade, I'm just not sure what I'd replace with it. I'd love to hear your suggestions/reasonings. It has the potential to be a huge power boost, but could also fizzle if the first card milled is a land.

I would say switch out Argentum Armor for the blade. Sure the armor is +6/+6 but at a total cost of to get it cast/attached in many cases, you'd be better using that mana on something else.
While yes the blade may not be all that terrific, it will usually get 2-4, plus forces those cards away from an opponent unless they have recursion/reanimation effects.
Another card for the maybeboard is Celestial Mantle. With all the trample/lifelink it may be something to splash in as it would help to stay alive. Just an idea.

I could see that. Ideally we don't want to play the Armor until we have something that bypasses the equip costs like Sigarda's Aid, Hammer of Nazahn, Puresteel Paladin, or Balan, Wandering Knight. Honestly, the cost of the card doesn't bother me much, and it's effects put it up there as my go-to "finisher." I'll probably switch out Masterwork of Ingenuity with Trepanation Blade at least to test it out and see what happens.

I'm avoiding most auras due mostly to the inability to tutor them, or the lack of interactions with other Equipment Matters cards, and I just hate when they fall off my creatures and can't reuse them like I can equipment. If I was going with auras I'd probably throw stuff in like Eldrazi Conscription, but that is definitely a card that works with my Felidar Sovereign wincon and the P/T buff is very satisfying! Great suggestion, but I don't know what I'd remove to try to force it in.

I never ever noticed the "can't be sacrificed" part on Assault Suit. Good to know :D

And I share your love for Wordslayer.

just one more thing:

Godsend isn't a commander perma-death. The commander never goes to the exile zone because of its replacement effect(unless the opponent choose to, of course), so godsend doesn't affect it because it says "card exiled with".

from the rules:

607.2a If an object has an activated or triggered ability printed on it that instructs a player to exile one or more cards and an ability printed on it that refers either to “the exiled cards” or to cards “exiled with [this object],” these abilities are linked. The second ability refers only to cards in the exile zone that were put there as a result of an instruction to exile them in the first ability.

Assault Suit kind of found it's way when I was looking for a cheaper, more on-flavor alternative to Sigarda, Host of Herons. I had totally forgot it prevents the creature from being sacrificed, too lol!

Kaldra+Worldslayer is still my all-time favorite thing. Sadly, I had to cut Kaldra from this deck.

Re:Godsend - I realized that a few hours after I wrote that, and seem to have just forgot to edit that line out. Still a good equipment, imho

Did you look at Prowler's Helm or Trailblazer's Boots. In Commander these are generally like giving a creature unblockable and they don't have the shroud problem like Whispersilk Cloak.

Fireshrieker is equipment doublestrike but its 6 to really make use of.

Open the Vaults is boardwipe recovery.

Not sure what I would remove though. I've been running Nazahn with no real cat tribal.

Yeah I could swap out Arahbo with Nazahn and add more equipment to it, but I think I really like the cat tribal theme. I known I'm losing out on stuff because of it, but Commander's all about themes anyway :)

I have plenty of those equipment and I probably should put one in. The only artifact constantly on the chopping block is Masterwork of Ingenuity because it does nothing by itself.

DarkSepho says... #12

Yeah, I'm coming to that conclusion too.. It's a vertical deck so it's not so common that I want to duplicate an equipment because I have no use for the same effect on the same creature. It works better in Nahiri, the Lithomancer decks and similar because they go wider

October 2, 2017 4:59 p.m.

Valius says... #13

Agreed. So I'll swap out Masterwork for a Prowler's Helm, and going to swap out Qasali Slingers for Qasali Pridemage - 3/3 for 2 with removal and I'm already running Aura Shards anyway.

As for Fireshrieker, I think I'd rather run Duelist's Heritage - same effect, cheaper, and political.

Decided to make a few more edits. After some consideration I have removed Raksha Golden Cub and Hungry Lynx. The former is just too expensive and designed more for a wide strategy. I felt replacing him with Sun Titan nets better survivability. Lynx is out for the sake that I can't easily kill the rat tokens it makes, and would need to deal with them once the lynx dies. It has been replaced with Oreskos Explorer for possible Ramp.

Equipment-wise, after thinking long and hard about it I have removed Sword of Body and Mind and Sword of Feast and Famine. The Protection from Green just stops Arahbo, Roar of the World's ability from triggering. While the other protections may make for an unblockable, untargetable threat with cool abilities, I feel the nonbos of the cards just fail.

I have instead added in Sword of Vengeance and Trepanation Blade. The former adds a buff and several relevant keywords and works in tandem with Arahbo to make a pretty good threat, but not as imposing as one with a Sword. The latter equipment I feel (after much thought) just might work. At its absolute worst it removes a land and gives +1/+0. All other times it does that and more, maybe even removing a wincon or two. Graveyard recursion may love this, so that's a downside, especially against Meren or Sheoldred, so it's definitely one that can be upgraded later when something better comes along. Was considering Loxodon Warhammer, but I like the idea of milling lands and wincons.

have you ever tried Kusari-Gama?

It's on my list to buy the next time I get to have a shopping spree on TCGPlayer, wife willing. Looks like so much fun.

DarkSepho says... #17

It's just an evasion tool most of the times, but you can use it as a board wipe with some instant-equip tricks (Leonin Shikari) or even better with Grappling Hook, but I don't think you have space for that

Valius says... #18

I could fit 'em both in by removing Trepanation Blade and Worldslayer easily. The latter is really not a good fit for the deck, but it's just one I love. Probably bite the bullet and put it in a different deck.

Alright, so I just came back from a League night where I won both matches. Surprising all-star? Fleecemane Lion + Worldslayer . That was what won me both of my pods. I am never taking them out again, lol. No more R.I.P. Worldslayer, it's officially alive and kicking again!

I need a bit more ramp, but I trading like $90 worth of stuff last night to get some mana fixing in, as well as a Blade of Selves. Just have to figure out where to put them.

I initially had Ajani, Valiant Protector in for his +1 auto-find a creature, but I never once played him. Taking him out for some ramp. But overall, super happy with the current build.

btw Nacatl War-Pride copies from Blade of Selves won't trigger because they aren't declared attacking

DarkSepho That combo could be extremely brutal I think I'll add that to my arahbo deck. Going up against slivers or vamps that can be a game changer.

Valius says... #24

I meam yeah the on-attack triggers don't work with Blade of Selves, but imagine if Aura Shards was out!

Swap Sword of Feast and Famine for Bear Umbra Lose protection and defender discarding. But still get the untap effect and on attack, So dmg isnt needed. Totem armor can save your creature and i think u had something to tutor for it still
