Welcome to a Bant, tribal, land destruction, control, interactive, fun, hopefully competitive, but probably not, deck. I'll breakdown all but the obvious cards and why I chose them. Let me know what you think.
SPIRITS
Mausoleum Wanderer is one of my favorites for the simple fact of countering a Thoughtseize effect when on the play. I hate being across the table from discard spells.
Selfless Spirit any creature based deck could use him but especially a spirit deck. Survive an
Anger of the Gods
Rattlechains flashing it in to protect a lord untill I can double up on Drogskol Captain
Geist of Saint Traft excellent beater but need to protect the 2 toughness. Selfless spirit is good for giving traft another swing.
Spell Queller is great for modern when most spells are below 4 cmc. Holding off a Blood Moon for a few turns allows you to fetch basics or dump your hand.
Drogskol Captain the lord of the deck giving other spirits a pump and hexproof. If two of these resolve and a win is possible it'll be in the next few turns.
LAND MANIPULATION
Ghost Quarter assuming the opponent is only running a few basics; between opponent drawing basics,
Life of the Loam
and Renegade Rallier we should be able to reduce their land count.
Renegade Rallier is great recursion in this deck. Ghost quarter, selfless spirit, coiling oracle, fetches, are all good targets. oh yeah, imagine opponent targets your single drogskol captain with lightning bolt and you have aether vial sitting at 3 counters, renegade rallier in hand and rattlechains in graveyard. Instead of losing a creature you disrupt it AND gain two more!
SUPPORT
Flickerwisp is here to multiply etb triggers
Tireless Tracker when you return a fetch to play, after just playing and cracking it, through renegade ralliers effect you have 3 land drop triggers for the tracker. This helps that late game top decking.
Collected Company/Aether VialThese also help to push out late games when steam is running out. I chose to drop to 3 coco's and add aether vials because i dont have a turn one mana dork. Both spells provide an instant speed to my creature "enter the battlefield" effects.
