I actually like Mulch, it allows you to cut lands and accentuate the creature count(not to mention milling(everybody loves milling). Check out my Diggin to China for ideas. It works pretty well in the standard meta I see.

I would prefer merfolk looters over skaabs. You have better control over what your putting in your graveyard and can keep drawing
March 12, 2012 11:11 a.m.
I agree on the Looters, it's much better to be able to decide. As well as getting the card advantage. Overall looks like a great deck. Thinking of building and running it at FNM this Friday, I'll let you know how it goes.

If you're running Spider Spawning you need some way to pay the B in its Flashback cost, because odds are it's going to go straight into your graveyard with Armored Skaab or Tracker's Instinct. Best way is probably to add one or two Swamps and use Dawntreader Elk to pull them out.
Armored Skaab has two advantages over Merfolk Looter, and the first one is volume. Turn 3 Armored Skaab can send enough creatures into your graveyard to let your Splinterfright live on the next turn. And it's a blocker. It's a good thing to set down in front of early aggression while your Splinterfights and Boneyard Wurms grow big enough to be used.

should put in stonerhorn dignatary and change the crow for Aether Adept because it costs one less mana

Probably will add Stonehorn Dignitary. I went with Mist Raven vs. AEther Adept only because of the flying and the Favorable Winds buff. He ends up being a pretty nice game ender if I leave one out there to get pumped from Favorable Winds and Cathars' Crusade. FLYING DEATH BIRD FTW!! Haha.

...and Stonehorn Dignitary just won me a game in which I would have otherwise gotten stomped.

Why don't you have any Cathedral Sanctifier as 1 drops? They would work great with your flickers.

@pboksz That could work. Honestly, the early game is a little slow with this deck. I'm trying to balance the Spirit/Token idea with Flicker. Cathars' Crusade has been the consistent FTW card in this deck. It, plus Lingering Souls/Deadeye Navigator/Cloudshift is amazingly powerful. I like the idea of Cathedral Sanctifier, but I'm really down to the point where I can't decide what else could be cut.

@[cryptichorror] I think the Cathedral Sanctifier would be good in the place of Doomed Traveler. Also how is Lingering Souls plus flicker a good thing? If tokens change any zone they disappear forever.

I disagree pboksz Doomed Traveler has synergy and combos into this deck 3 life is nice but he wants to bring creatures into play and have them be even more dangerous dead then alive.his enchantments focus on flying tokens. Flicker obviously does not relate to his tokens. Stonehorn Dignitary plus Flicker equals never being "attacked" again. I like the idea and have been playing against similar lately...and thats in vintage format this can still hold up

Your going in 2 different directions for your creatures, either go the delver rout or the spirit route.
I generally hate running anything more than 4 cmc.

Drop , with Gnaw to the Bone you can easily get up to 30 life and flip it to start knocking your opponents down 5 life a turn.
Sorry if this seems a little bossy, I run this same kind of deck, and it's been pretty successful and more importantly, a ton of fun to play.
