Shape Anew ftw!!! +1.

Definitely getting a +1 from me! I tried to make this deck before innistrad using Mimic Vat and only GW. I also recommend using maybe one less Master Splicer for at least 1 Main-decked Vital Splicer.

Also, in your sideboard, why Revoke Existence instead of Naturalize?

Holy crap...this exploded over the weekend >.< I'll get in a reply or two then get around to my "owed" deck reviews for everyone that has commented or +1'd. Thank you! :)

Before I get too far into this I've been playtesting this weekend and while I like the "vigilance" the Intangible Virtue provides the Tempered Steel that I used to have in here provided more boost. I will most likely be changing that back.

@Solaninalos I did have the Vital Splicer in the deck but it didn't help too much. I HAVE been considering putting them in the sideboard because the way I play this deck is game 1 with the Shape Anew and Blightsteel Colossus then if my opponent sides in cards I just flat out side out those 6 cards for other cards. Otherwise continue with them in.

@Vman I would add the Moorland Haunt in but as a lot of people have said they've had issues with land in this deck. I personally rarely have land issues but I also know exactly when to mulligan my hands. Thank you for pointing out the potential issue with Act of Aggression thought...I've actually been beat by a clone of my Blightsteel Colossus once before. Kudos to how the guy did it too...it was quite impressive!

@Strangelove Xenograft would be a fun card lol...there are a few other cards I'd like to have room for too. Perhaps it would be a good card to fill out my 6 card swapable sideboard with though! :)

@Chaosraptor I have the Revoke Existence in my sideboard. I don't want to drop card:Master's Call because that is my ticket to a 3rd turn Blightsteel Colossus . I will link how I usually look to play this deck in the description above. If someone spends their cards on my Blightsteel Colossus more power to them...this deck can easily overwhelm and win without him...and has many times :) He is an awesome threat because it FORCES people to "skip" their turn to deal with him or they die.

@kaopectate I was thinking Parallel Lives and Venser, the Sojourner myself...as a matter of fact Venser, the Sojourner was in my initial build. The fact of the matter was that he was just too dang slow. He messed with the synergy of the deck really. I never even got around to putting in Parallel Lives by the time I would get it out the game is usually over...let alone not dropping many golems at that point. The combo with the two of them is awesome but like I said too slow for me. :)

@Witteee my friend carlkosek and I were discussing the Precursor Golem the other night but seeing how reliant this deck is upon the golems a timely Doom Blade could be devastating so I scrapped that idea. I'm going to run the Vital Splicer in my sideboard I think. I'm going away from the Intangible Virtue back to Tempered Steel so I like the Master Splicer I'm going to miss the vigilance, but I'm just not willing to put the Sensor Splicer in the deck for vigilance either :\

@IAmKingTony, MitchellSocks, JasonD The land can be an issue as well as drawing up the Blightsteel Colossus , however, when I do this my opponent tends to just hold their cards WAITING for the Blightsteel Colossus and in the process of waiting they get dead from the rest of my deck so it's not too much of an issue. This deck was BUILT to tailor to my playstyle and I will be sharing in the description how I often play it and how I think.

@mtuchler The original deck contained Gavony Township but it created issues with the mana base. Also it was just too slow and I had other things to be playing each turn so I dropped it out. :/

Thank you everyone for your feedback! I will be making some tweaks to this deck as described in this post as well as updating the description with how I play it and what I think. If you play it at any FNM or tournaments post back and let me know how it went I'd be interested! Again thanks for the feedback...you made this deck quite popular over the weekend when I wasn't checking in :P

Comments on your decks coming over the day.

I like this deck! The only thing I would do is drop 2 Tempered Steel for 2 Intangible Virtue . The vigilance is worth the +1/+1 sometimes. Still +1

December 6, 2011 2:12 a.m.

shawning says... #10

@unknownarms7 Vault Skirge is actually a pretty good replacement but I LOVE having TWO blockers for 1 mana...just can't beat that! I'll check it out! (I think I may have looked at it before too actually lol).

@cobracon7 I've been toying with the two cards for awhile now. I started out running 4x Tempered Steel then switched to 4x Intangible Virtue I also love the vigilance, however, dropping an Intangible Virtue doesn't get the same reaction as dropping a Tempered Steel . I like to make people think "what should I remove" and Tempered Steel has that punch. I HAVE been thinking about running Sensor Splicer in the sideboard though for when I side out Shape Anew and Blightsteel Colossus .

Thanks for the feedback! :)

I'd drop the Master Splicer down X 2, Wing Splicer X2. maybe add Adaptive Automaton , or Solemn Simulacrum since both benefit from your Tempered Steel . i also like Mimic Vat in golem decks or heaven forbid they Doom Blade your Blightsteel Colossus . Love the card:Master's Call+Shape Anew combo. So much cheaper than Inkmoth Nexus . Check out mine at deck:tempered-golems-under-construction

Venser, the Sojourner is a must have in a deck like this. +2 creates more Golems, and if they have some big dudes out you can go around them with -1 for the win. His -8 is just a bonus that instills fear into the opposing player as his counters go up.

December 6, 2011 9:54 a.m.

shawning says... #13

@crabopolis There is no way I would drop the Wing Splicer down to 2...it adds far too much power to this deck. While both the Adaptive Automaton and Solemn Simulacrum benefit from Tempered Steel they don't benefit from the splicer's bonus and that to me has an insta-nix. I would like to have a Mimic Vat just don't have a good spot for it really :( Not sure if you were saying they may Doom Blade my Blightsteel Colossus but if that's what you're saying it won't work. The Blightsteel Colossus is indestructible. They could exile it, but if they do its no worries the rest of the deck can still win :) I'll check out your deck to see what you're running :) Thank you for the feedback. I really wish I could get the Mimic Vat in the deck.

@Mikeomack I started this build with Venser, the Sojourner but he is just TOO slow. He has great synergy with splicers, but often the game doesn't go too far past turn 4. Thanks for the feedback :)

Solemn is a golem though. Look at the M12 version.

@PsymonM77 good point Psy! I retract my prior comment. :)

I really wish you could play Solemn Simulacrum or Platinum Emperion because they are golems, but it wrecks your synergy. Love this deck, +1

Had a golem deck very similar to this but was to slow for FNM. The added shape anew/masters call/blightsteel combo is sick, gonna try it out myself!

+1 from me for sure, love golems.

I played against a very similar deck to this at FNM this past week, and it stomped my Rotting Control to the ground. Mostly because I couldn't draw an answer to save my life. But, needless to say, that Blightsteel Colossus hits the table, it's pretty much game against a lot of decks. +1

One Thing I always Say:

Can you win without the Main Pawn in your deckWhat if they Memoricide your Blightsteel Colossus ?Regardless +1, because its still Wonderful.

oh, And Think About Venser, the Sojourner and Parallel Lives

December 6, 2011 4:20 p.m.

shawning says... #22

@ririve yep! I don't rely on the Shape Anew Blightsteel Colossus combo ever...as a matter of fact if I drop it during game one and my opponent sides in cards I usually just side the 6 cards worth of combo out. I did have Venser, the Sojourner in the deck and was evaluating Parallel Lives but it was just too slow that way. Thanks for the feedback! :)

December 6, 2011 4:30 p.m.

Definitely +1, I've been trying to make a successful golems deck and this looks like the ticket. Though it may be too fast for me to play considering I really only play kitchen table. Playing a deck like this would probably be almost always auto win lol. That being said, I have a couple decks I'm trying, comments on them would be great.

Bant Splicers

U/W Venser Aggro/Control (not really a golems deck but works in the same sort of way).

Awesome deck +1. Been trying to come up with way to use the Blightsteel shape anew that would still be winnable without the combo. WUG Living in a splicer's paradise is what I came up with.

I found Forbidden Alchemy pretty cool since it will allow you to push blightsteels back down in your deck off the top.
