@peppermint_butler yea this probably isn't a good kitchen table deck...I built this with competing in mind.

@Shrodinger I don't have any method of doing that...I'll have to check with my buddy carlkosek to see if he can build it to playtest against...if he can I'll letcha know!

@theeverdead Forbidden Alchemy WOULD be great because that is the only logistical issue I have with my deck at this point.

Thanks for the feed back gang! :)

Solemn Simulacrum would have a place in here too, he is great in any deck, plus he is a golem.

@pairanoia1203 but he is also an artifact which messes up the synergy of the deck. :( I have no artifacts that aren't tokens so they don't get pulled instead of a Blightsteel Colossus .

So I built this deck and played it today. Against my friends Blue control/clone deck, it went 2 wins to 3 loses. The 2 times I did win I just overwhelmed him early. Out of 5 games I managed to pull out blightsteel once. One time he was able to redirect my shape anew to his spellskite and pull out an artifact of his own from his deck. Other times I just got mana leaked. The one time I got blightsteel out he double cloned it the very next turn with Phantasmal Images. It was fun to play and I didnt get the chance to try it against other decks just yet. I am by no means gonna give up on it.

Yea that would be a deck I'd just side the combo out against and side in some counters. Then just don't start playing your cards until you're "out of Mana Leak " range...usually if you don't play against control decks they end up discarding. You can beat him probably just play the deck more and use your sideboard and you'll adjust to its play style :)

@ #32 up here suggested adding Vault Skirge instead of Doomed Traveler . I would just like to say I don't think that is a very good idea, as it messes with the Shape/Blightsteel combo.

The whole point is that the ONLY artifact in there should be Blightsteel Colossus , or your Shape might drop a very expensive 1/1 flyer...

Your absolutely right, I had no sideboard. I was just eager to play it and definetly had the potential. Gotta play it more before Friday for sure. If I could +1 again I would. Like I said I had a golden deck very similar and was just to slow. The ramping and blightsteel made it fun for me again

Okay I've thought a lot more about this deck and I have a few things for you to think about. Tempered Steel seems like win more when it comes down for me, I think having Oblivion Ring or Beast Within for maindeck answers would be really nice. If you are really set on having a creature pump, I think Intangible Virtue would be better. The only creature not benefiting would be Blightsteel Colossus and he doesn't need the help. It also comes down a turn sooner and doesn't have WW in the mana cost.

I'm not crazy about card:Master's Call, but I can't think of any other options that don't put an artifact into your deck.

Also, do you think Elspeth Tirel might fit in here?

December 7, 2011 7:33 p.m.

theeverdead says... #10

Elspeth would only be helpful if you went Intangible Virtue I think.

Though intangible might be better choice since the vigilance 4/4 seems like a stronger creature than a 5/5 regular creature. Not many x/5 being used in the format currently that won't still kill your creature even with first strike.

I do think for my deck I would like to use tempered still since a 3/3 inkmoth is a pretty decent clock.

Tunde says... #11

I think you should probably -1 or -2 Tempered Steel and +1 or +2 Intangible Virtue ... Other than that I think its just fine... I'm going to make it and test it out with it being 3 TS and 1IV. +1 from me!!

Very fun. Consistent early wins. +1

Please check out my Kill it with fire red black deck. Nobody ever comments on my decks :( Do I have to do something to make them cycle through the front page?

Solaninalos says... #13

Hadarace, you need tokens which are bought from the extras page. 1 token rotates your deck through the front page for 1 day on the feature queue.

one thing i thought of... depending on if you are against a weenie deck or not, maybe board wipe with a Phyrexian Rebirth swing, then Shape Anew into your Blightsteel Colossus . I don't know but it's a thought.

Try Venser. he loves splicers and unblock able infectors.

I do not in any way like Xenograft in the board. Or in a deck. Or ever printed. I'd work in some Dispatch for sure.

entropy101 says... #17

i see what you mean about venser being to slow

my suggestions would be Phantasmal Image and Angelic Destiny the destiny can be so difficult to deal with properly and the image is 2 mana for a copy spell its so versatile and cheep, and doubles up as a kill spell against guys like Thrun, the Last Troll ect

jgiesler says... #18

This is very similar to two of my decks. deck:t3-blightsteel and my deck:t3-blightsteelgolem-deck. We are both pretty much trying to do the same thing.

I would drop all doomed travelers for some control spells.

@ Crabopolis #63,

I like the Phyrexian Rebirth suggestion, but tbh I think it'll usually create a baddy big enough to win without having to Shape it into a colossus (not that that's a bad thing... ;) )

Rebirth might be a better boardwipe in this deck than DoJ tho, I must agree

I agree with entropy101 - Phantasmal Image just fits right at home here. Gives you another splicer OR Blightsteel Colossus for two mana, a blessing from up above.

I'm actually surprised how well this deck is doing on Tappedout(as it rightfully should, I love it). I haven't seen it anywhere else, but it seems to compete well with tier 1 decks; I appreciate that!

I might give it a more control feel, honestly. I'd take out the [doomed traveler]]s and mainboard 2 Oblivion Ring s and 2 Phantasmal Image s. I'd also take out a Tempered Steel and a Master Splicer and add in another control card like Beast Within

Just my two mana :)

Stick in a Ponder or two. That should really get this deck going faster, especially with Shape Anew .

Oh and by "a Ponder or two", I mean 3 or 4 :P

I apologize. Completely disregard my comments. Upon play testing this I found that it is perfect as is. If this is completely your idea, you are to be commended, because this is pure genius.
