this deck is so pretty! i love simple decks like this. i mean it's not simple, but it's smooth. basically 4 of everything, one idea with several options, it's just a smooth machine. one that things like Surgical Extraction or Memoricide won't dismantle. and bant colors ftw! makes me miss slivers :) btw, i love that you actually use Wing Splicer . flying is so good in this block, there's not a whole lot of answers to a 11/11 flying trampler with infect. well played, senor. a tip of my hat to you, and going to the store to pick up another Blade Splicer and a couple of Shape Anew s >:)

@SplodyCopter Thannks :) Simple was what I had in mind. I like having multiple wins in one deck and I also like being able to swap sideboard cards in for basically a different way to play AND to confuse your opponent. Nothing like watching your opponent get obliterated second game because they were holding their counter for your Shape Anew or their Oblivion Ring for your Blightsteel Colossus which you sided out :)
As a note I moved the Vital Splicer to main board and dropped the Master Splicer to the sideboard. The sideboard has been updated with my FNM lineup tonight. Enjoy! I'll report back on how it does tonight.

this looks pretty fancy:3 i like it.
Maybe run Dispatch instead of Oblivion Ring since you usually wont have a problem with metalcraft.
other than that it looks pretty smooth:3 you have my +1!
if you have the time, check out my stuffAlluring (Fight to the Death) and see what you think. Thanks!

7 Vital Splicer s (4 MB and 3 SB) is a little rough on the opponent - but it does help to guaruntee a draw of one or two :). I assume the SB is the 3 Master Splicer s you said you moved there.
I love your new SB, way better than the previous. Please let us know how the Stoic Rebuttal s worked out. I personally would have opted for Negate or Mana Leak due to the one less blue requirement, but I'm a risk weenie.
+1'd too

@Mawree I've never had much luck with Dispatch it seems whenever I REALLY need it I can't manage to get my metalcraft down (usally because I'm playing control) and then I get pissed and use my deck to heat my house. :)
@BX223Hunter Bwahaha! My policy is to CHEAT! Just kidding lol I meant to type Sensor Splicer but I'm a nublet so you'll just have to forgive me :P I HATE Mana Leak most of the time when I'm countering crap I'm countering counters and its later in the game after I've built up the mana to pay the extra to not be leaked myself at that point the Mana Leak is useless. Plus turn 1-4 I'll be dropping my combo...no space for them "flow" wise. Thanks for pointing out my idiot error though lolz!
December 9, 2011 4:33 p.m.
ah i see (shakes fist) damn that control:P! another fun suggestion would be maybe running a few copies of Parallel Lives since you're putting out tokens. it also might help with the metalcraft issue. plus it would just be fun.
it just depends on how competitive an environment youre in.

Parallel just doesn't play out as strong as it would seem it should. That mana could usually be better served dropping another splicer giving another creature and buffing the other golems.
it seems like one of those cards they add because people like it for kitchen tables but doesn't work in a FNM enviroment.

Parallel Lives is really good, but there is no room for it here.
I already +1'ed this one, so yeah.
Check out my latest Boros deck if you can. It is my best work of art yet.

So you were right about venser being slow. WUG Living in a splicer's paradise I switched in Garruk Relentless Flip Flip switched the Tempered Steel for the Intangible Virtue . Now on the second matchup I side in 2 Elspeth and 4 Shrine of Loyal Legions Makes it a bit more versatile and hopefully it will keep them off guard.

You're forgetting there are gut shots and vapor snags running around the meta. I dont think you'd like a blightsteel to be bounced to your hand after all that work, or they kill your myr/golem after targeting from the shape anew. I know this because I've tried. :(

so i built this yesterday, and i went to fnm. my friend wanted to play, but he didn't have a standard deck, so i let him use this one. showed him how it worked for a minute, until he knew when to mulligan. he got 2nd, i got 1st with my U/B control. He won all 4 rounds other than finals, lost 1 game to esper control, because he didn't have any blue mana first game so he couldnt play his Shape Anew , but every other game was awesome, he said he completely wrecked. and i only won because i knew what to look for, because i knew the deck ;P so it did really well. just thought i'd let you know. 2-0 vs white humans, 2-0 vs wolf run, 2-1 vs esper control (not solar flare apparently?), 2-0 vs mono green (i played it, dude liked to get a dungrove with a Strata Scythe , it was really annoying. apparently game one he gave blightsteel flying and game 2 he just overwhelmed.), and 1-2 versus my own U/B control. deck:my-first-control-3

@megasventies: all you have to do for that is wait a little longer first game, and run them out of counter/bounce/removal cards and then play your Shape Anew . and second game, they'll be waiting for your nasty combo, so you sideboard the combo out and just play golems.

Quite the interesting little thing you got there...i like it
Check out my "Angry Geists!" deck too

We've got a bunch of people at our local store playing slight variations of this deck right now (one of them copied you perfectly, and won FNM last night).
I really, really love this deck. And I think the greatest thing about it, is that no one is expecting it. We saw people attempt "Turbo Colossus" style decks as soon as the Blightsteel Colossus came out, but nothing was really effective, until now.
shawning, I never get to say this to people... but I think you invented a net deck. And I think that's something to be proud of.
Also, in response to seeing this deck more and more prevalent these days, I built a response, Gruesome Frog, kind of as a joke. :D
December 10, 2011 1:23 p.m.
@megasventies had both happen a few times...moral of the story they learned that my deck wasn't one dimensional and they lost. :)
@SplodyCopter that's awesome! Way to dominate FNM lol. Thanks for sharings stats! I went to FNM last night but I didn't play...was in a funk so I have no update of my own tonight.
@djgunn wow thank you... Yea I got a lot of "oh shit" comments when I dropped the Blightsteel Colossus last week. I had fun playing it and have really enjoyed working with the TO community to build it!
@yeaGO! it took me awhile to figure out what you were talking about! How did that get there!?
Thanks everyone!

ha ha ha...if dinosaurs come back to life...you need to mulligan...great deck man, but too inconsistant. It can definitely crush any deck though.

shawning, after visiting and revisiting and rerevisiting you deck over and over again, I decided to take my own stab at a turbo colossus variant. If you get a chance, let me know what you think!

Really nice deck (+1), I've ordered the missing cards right now. Can't wait to play with it. Thank you :-)

Gave you a +1 for the sheer insanity of the deck. Here's my link for the deck I made using Liliana and Garruk from Innistrad, got both in a draft and want to make a deck revolving around them. Anyone else here is welcome to look too as I know it's not my best effort.

@Mr_Nate, theeverdead, Tunde I tried running the Intangible Virtue for awhile in favor of the vigiliance...however, dropping the Tempered Steel got more "attention" than the Intangible Virtue people just tend to ignore it. I like strategically dropping every card to make my opponent think "should I counter or exile this one or should I wait?"
@crabopolis I like that card but it just seems too slow for this deck :(
@Gennair I was running Venser, the Sojourner in this deck but decided it was just too slow.
@PsymonM77 Yea I agree. At first recommendation I liked it, however, I've since restructured my sideboard. I will be updating it on TO later.
@entropy101 I have seriously considered Phantasmal Image but honestly the Blightsteel Colossus drop is bad enough as is and if someone spends their resources removing him it is usually game.
@jgiesler I run the counters/control in my sideboard. When I side them in the Doomed Traveler is what I side out. I like the Doomed Traveler because it can "plink" away or it can block twice so that was my reasoning to main board him.
@Minister My meta calls for the control in the sideboard but I wouldn't hesitate dropping it in main board if my meta all of a sudden shifted. Like I said to jgiesler above I'd love to drop in the Phantasmal Image but haven't had too much time to modify the main board lately.
@Fall87 Yes the price of this deck is quite attractive hehe...I like to keep my deck prices low if I can.
@AlmightyDraw Yea the mana base is a little risky...however there are 8 mana producing creatures in the deck so it usually does ok if you know how to play it :)
@acronix I actually toyed with the idea of running 4 Ponder main board, but as you discovered yourself the deck runs fine without them so I pulled them out! :)
Thanks for the feedback everyone! :) Stay tuned for my updated sideboard!
