My take on
Splinterfright
decks! I've playtested it for a little while now, and it seems to do pretty well. Sideboard isn't complete yet, I need to work on it.
Breakdown:1 CMC
Birds of Paradise - Early mana ramp with evasion, pretty self explanatory. I can do pretty okay without the mana ramp early game though, as it takes a few turns to get creatures into the grave.
Dream Twist - Early, cheap mill. I can flash it back to get more things into my grave or to get after an opponent who is crafting with their deck.
Postmortem Lunge - A very sneaky way to get out a Kessig Cagebreakers,
Ghoultree
or
Skaab Ruinator
late game for a swift victory.
2 CMC
Viridian Emissary - Creature removal, graveyard pump and mana ramp all rolled into one creature. I love this card, I just can't justify running more than two of it.
Mulch - Dumps creatures into my graveyard and removes land from my deck. This is a lifesaver in games where all of my lands are in one spot.
3 CMC
Armored Skaab - My least favorite card in this deck, I'll probably get rid of it in favor of Memory's Journey or possibly Elixir of Life.
Splinterfright
- The inspiration for this deck. Mills me, gets bigger as I do, and has trample. What's not to love?
Skaab Ruinator
- Cheap, comes out strong. I can play him early in a game where I have to be more aggressive or later in a slower game. The creature exile isn't a huge issue because I have so many creatures.
Jace's Archivist - If I have a crap hand, I can dump it for something new. If my opponent has a carefully sculpted hand, I can dump it for something new. Also fantastic later game when I'm topdecking lands.
5 CMC
Mirror-Mad Phantasm - Late game mill, pumps up anything I already have out, such as
Splinterfright
or Kessig Cagebreakers.
Kessig Cagebreakers - I this card. The wolf tokens come in attacking, they stay, and you can keep doing this as long as he's on the board. Especially amusing when played using Postmortem Lunge.
8 CMC
Ghoultree
- Mainly trying this guy out, but I could cast him pretty early. Yes, it dies to every spell imaginable, but it's still a 10/10 beater. Will do fine against RDW.
