Is Life from the Loam modern legal? Dredge plus extra card:Raven's Crime usage would be nasty.

Life from the Loam is actually a type of deck in Modern. I've found that I don't need it though, for the most part - Mulch tends to give me enough lands if I'm running low. There aren't really any decks that have such tremendous draw power I need to get lands from my graveyard so I can use card:Raven's Crime even more. It helps that this is aggro enough to not need many lands on the battlefield, so you should be fine as long as you don't play more than a few.
And I'm okay with that. Life from the Loam is $12-15 each and this deck is enough money as it is, lol. I might have to consider them anyway because of the Dredge part, since I don't know how well that would work here.

I'm thinking about adding Rancor to push through extra damage from Boneyard Wurm and Tarmogoyf (or Bloodghast ). If someone produces a LOT of chump blockers I only have Splinterfright to rely on, assuming all copies haven't already met a grisly end. However I don't feel like I really have room - perhaps Smother should be relegated to the sideboard, as it isn't relevant against every deck?

Have you considered Mulch or Kessig Cagebreakers?

Grisly Salvage is already there, and is way better than Mulch. Same cmc but Salvage is an instant, shows 5 cards instead of 4, and you have choice of creature OR land (or nothing, because of the "may" clause). Mulch is occasionally good for fueling Raven's Crime but 90% of the time Mulch is outclassed by other cards.
Kessig Cagebreakers is a bit too slow here. If anything, I'd put it in here as a 1-of.

needs red for faithless looting and you need to cut some of the crimes, in favor of Vengeful Pharaoh

I would throw some Rancor in there, simply for the fact that Tarmy get's ever so slightly bigger for having them in your graveyard, and you only really need one of them. Maybe Groundbreaker as well?

You're running ravens crime but no life from the loam. That's bad. You're only running 4 fetchs, with bloodghast and ravens crime...That is also bad

Looks good. +1.
benelas16 - I think Raven's Crime is here to put land in the graveyard because torridus doesn't want to run more fetches. I imagine "target player" discarding may often be torridus.
Vladimara makes a valid argument for including an enchantment, but Rancor doesn't strike me as a good idea because it's so darned sticky. Evolutionary Leap makes a little more sense as does Seal of Primordium, Quest for the Gravelord, and No Rest for the Wicked. Also, why not an artifact, too? Something like Nihil Spellbomb?

But I don't see this as a "mill" deck, not even a self-mill deck, and I would remove that from the Hubs.

Ghoultree wouldn't be great but it would be fun for flavour lol :)
I love the deck though. +1

Forgot to add something: I feel like you have lots of threats but not enough graveyard fillers. Drop the quest for gravelord cause it's slow and topdecking it makes you lose the game, and maybe add Satyr Wayfinder, Grapple with the Past, or smtg similar.

If you want another persistent creature Voice of Resurgence is the bees knees. Otherwise consider adding Mishra's Bauble. Worthless card except that it gets you another card type in your GY for Goyf and Grim. Looks like a fun deck!
I'm doing something different with Abzan in Abzan Beatdown, but I would love your feedback!

I honestly think you definitely should put in Lotleth Troll, the discarding creature ability and regen is very nice. Also, another possible option is Scavenging Ooze.

Blue splash for Sidisi, Brood Tyrant and Thought Scour can be good

Why not swap out slaughter pact for bone splinters? You still get a one-off kill spell and you add to your grave power. Just a thought, otherwise great build

I played this in standard way back. Boneyard Wurm would be better than Bloodghast as it's easier to play and fits the theme better. I personally like reanimator cards like Unburial Rites since you take the chance of losing a bunch of bombs when you are milling.

I kind of like the idea of Ghoultree in here over Boneyard Wurm .
