Don't care for its morph ability?!

Turn 1: Elvish Mystic. Turn 2: Rattleclaw face down. Turn 3: Flip the mystic you know how 6 mana turn 3 when you tap the elvish mystic and the flipped rattleclaw.

Drop fatty and beat face! :)

I think I misread it as a morph for 3 instead of 2. That does make it much better to play, as I could effectively tap for GGUURR and play Ascendancy then Savage and draw a card, which would be great. Thanks for helping me notice that.

You are over valuing Kruphix, and by doing so you overlook the actually good gods in your colors. I advise you put in Xenagos and/or Keranos. You would be surprised how much work they could do, and since your deck seems to not have a mana problem in the first place Kruphix is kind of unnecessary to run three of. Just IMO, if you prefer it as is that's cool too.

I'll have to check on Xenagos for sure. I know I ran him in this originally, but I decided he wasn't a good fit at the time. I've made some big changes since then, so it might be nice to see how he runs again. As for Keranos, I kinda ended up unknowingly making a horrible trade involving the 2 I had a few weeks ago... as in before the price freakin shot through the roof. I won't be running him in anything again unless I pull him or something, which probably won't happen.

I will say though that I like Kruphix for cards like Polukranos and Mindswipe, which can do some massive damage due to all the floating mana. Still, If Xenagos is better, then it's obvious to get rid of Kruphix.

Need some removal for side, like Force Away and AEtherspouts

FNM 9/26/14Result 2-2 (12th place)

Round 1: Vs. Jeskai Artifacts (Loss, 1-2)

Game 1: Loss. I got mana screwed because I only had blue and green mana available but every worthwhile card in my hand needed red.

Game 2: Win. My opponent played well again, but what really sealed the deal for me was flashing in Surrak at the end of his turn, playing Stormbreath the next turn to swing for 10. He only hit me for 5, then played a Scuttling Doom Engine. Fortunately, I had Icy blast in hand to tap down all blockers and swing for game.

Game 3: Loss. He got fast aggro out and had Phyrexiaan Revokers naming Elvish and Rattleclaw mystics.

Round 2: Vs. UW? Artifacts (Win, 2-1)

Game 1: Win. My deck played nearly perfectly, I had Temur Ascendancy out and kept dropping creatures only to replace my hand with more good stuff.

Game 2: Loss. Turn 2 Ensouled Ornithopter was insane.

Game 3: The winning combo was Temur Ascendancy giving Xenagos Haste while I had Surrak out and a Rattleclaw mystic. Icy Blast tapped him down and I swung for 20. It felt great.

Round 3: Vs. Temur Monsters (Win, 2-0)

Game 1: I forget the exact details, but Xenagos helped me get the win here.

Game 2: I literally was able to win because I swung for lethal before he did. He dropped a Hornet Queen while I had Polukranos and Xenagos, but I managed to get out some form of trample and swung with Xenagos and Polukranos for game. He would have had Stormbreath and Sarkhan for game the next turn.

Round 4: Vs. Rabble Mardu (Loss, 2-0)

Both Games: Tokens overwhelmed me. I also lost some creatures to charms and such, which really hurt. I think this deck will be my main competition in the weeks to come.

Notes:

Xenagos- He rocks.

Surrak- Flashing him in is really fun, but it's just as good to play him on my own turn.

Stormbreath- Still a great card.

Savage Knuckleblade- Unfortunately he didn't get to shine much, as I was normally playing other stuff instead of him. Despite that, I think he does still have a place in this deck.

Prophet of Kruphix- This card just feels amazing. Even if it gets killed, I can respond by flashing something in. It also isn't 100% necessary for me to win, but it makes winning a lot easier.

Nylea- I am soooo glad I added her. She becomes a creature relatively easily and can give Surrak some much needed trample. Also, 5 sources of trample for other creatures is very handy.

Temur Ascendancy- Much like Prophet, it isn't necessary for me to win, but it feels great when it comes out because it does work for me every time.

Wooded Foothills- This card is so much better than the r/g temple.

MVPs:

Creatures:

Xenagos- His ability is what makes this deck overwhelming. I loved it whenever I got him out on the field.

Other:

Icy Blast- I played with 2 of these to replace Stubborn Denial (as well as 2 mindswipes, and 1 see the unwritten to replace a Sarkhan). It literally won me games. I'm definitely running this as a playset in mainboard from now on.

I'm playing a temur deck as well right now, and I agree with you - rabble mardu is going to be tough. Maybe you should consider sideboarding Circle of Flames? A few of these out on the board is an option. Also, I really liked your build. Not a lot of people seem to be using icy blast, but I am in love with that card. Savage Knuckleblade has been underwhelming for me as well, and if it wasn't for my love affair with the Prophet, I'd even consider dropping blue. Keep updating, +1.

Thanks for the comment, I think circle of flame might actually be the perfect card to crush rabble. I think that combined with magma jet or even magma spray could be good for removing their main threat.

As I said above, I actually was not planning on running Icy Blast originally. I ran it last night because i pulled two from my box and it was essentially the same color cost as the Stubborn Denial I was missing. When it ended up winning me a game I realized just how insanely valuable it was. I do have to say though that the main reason to keep knuckleblade in is that at worst it's a 4/4 body on the field possibly by turn 3.

Out of curiosity, if you had to bring in some side board cards, what would you switch out? I'm asking you, because I have a similar deck and can't decide myself. Although I'm sure it depends on the situation, but I just wanted your two cents. Also, I was wondering what your thoughts were on Xenagos, the Reveler (plainswalker), temur charm, and courser? I noticed you didn't include them in your deck.

I forgot to mention the Nylea seems like a great card with your deck. I'm probably going to be adding it myself. Thanks for responding to my last comment.

Sorry I've taken so long to respond, I've been very busy lately.

For sideboarding I feel very comfortable removing a couple of knuckleblades and maybe some stormbreaths, depending on what I'm sideboarding for. 1 Surrak, 1 Temur Ascendancy, and maybe 2 Icy blasts can also work situationally. Mainly, I avoid removing something entirely, and don't touch the mana dorks whatsoever.

As for Xenagos Planeswalker, I don't have much of an opinion on him yet with this deck. I feel like he could work to an extent, especially if Temur Ascendancy starts spamming stuff, but that happens essentially every other game. If I did anything with him, he might see play in place of Sarkhan, possibly being sideboarded in if I see they have no decent removal.

Temur Charm is good for removal and countering, so I might consider it to replace Stubborn Denial or Force Away. What I can say for certain though is that Icy Blast is almost strictly better than the 3rd ability, as it has more versatility by tapping things down rather than preventing blockers.

Courser is a card that I definitely considered for this deck, just as I'm still considering caryatid to replace rattleclaw. The two main problems are price and role. Despite what this deck may portray, I'm on a fairly small budget and can only manage to get most cards through trades right now (or really lucky draft pulls when I do that). Courser is obviously not something I'm going to pick up a playset of easily in this case. Furthermore, Courser would naturally be a replacement for Knuckleblade, as both are 3 drops that in some way can help me to get card advantage (though knuckleblade requires ascendancy and some good mana). The main difference is that the Knuckleblade is essentially swinging for at least 4 every time, while courser swings for 2 when I don't need it to block something. Again, it's something I haven't yet worked with, and it will be an interesting idea to look into as standard progresses in the coming months. One thing courser does have going for it is that 1GG is a lot easier to get consistently than GUR.

FNM 3 October 2014: Overall Record 3-2, Place: 9th (out of 40)

Round 1: Vs Sultai Self-mill, Win 2-0

Game 1: Win. Literally the only way this could have been more epic was if it had ended on turn 5 of turns. We both had stupidly strong board states, but mine was slightly better. I had 15 life, he had 6. He hit a villainous wealth for 6 and hit nylea, xenagod, and 2 stormbreaths, then proceeded to swing into me for 12, putting me at 3. At end of turn I pulled the ombo combo with Savage Knucklebalde, Prophet of Kruphix, and Temur ascendancy to draw 2 cards. With my next draw I had a basic land, my other nylea, and sarkhan in hand, as well as 12 mana currently open on the field. I played the land and had exactly enough mana to play Sarkhan and Nylea and pump Sarkhan up to 6/6 while he had no blockers for him. I have never felt so great about a game of magic.

Game 2: Win. My deck went off this time without any real problems, and I was able to swing for a lethal 14 within only a few turns.

Round 2: Vs Red Deck Wins, Win 2-0

Game 1: Win. This deck scared the crap out of me when I saw it. My deck just can't handle well established aggro and heavy burn, which were both major aspects of this deck. I somehow managed to survive though and ended up winning fairly well.

Game 2: Win. I sideboarded for circle of flame because he had Rabblemasters. Instead of using those though he went and hit a raid triggered howl of the horde to triple cast a lightning strike for 9. That hurt. so did his stoke the flames. What hurt more though was me dropping Xenagod one turn, then Polukranos the next to swing for 10, then drawing Icy Blast to seal the deal. Have I mentioned that I love Icy Blast?

Round 3: Vs Rakdos? Rabble, removal, burn, painful, never playing against it again. Loss 1-2

The games can be summarized as this: My opponent got bad draws game 1, I did not experience the same luck a second time during our matches, and instead got mana screwed in game 3 leaving me wide open to ashcloud phoenix. This was also when I began to realize that Sylvan Caryatid would be much better than Rattleclaw now that people had more legitimate deck builds.

Round 4: Vs (i don't quite remember honestly) Win 2-0

As best as I can tell, I won both games fairly easily, as my life never dropped below 18. I honestly forget what deck I played against though. I think it may have been abzan.

Round 5: Vs Red Green Monsters, Loss 1-2

Game 1: Win. Splashing blue into what is normally a RG mosnetrs deck to make it Temur is essentially what won this game. Icy Blast was a main win-con.

Game 2: Loss. My deck did nothing but mana screw me.

Game 3: I needed to top deck an Icy blast to win for certain. I didn't. He had hit one of my stormbreaths with Arbor Colosuss monstrosity already, so I didn't have a strong enough board state to win. Oh well.

Overall, I'd rate the night as fairly successful, as the only losses I had were against tough match ups, and I know now that adjusting just a few small things will make it so that those games become a matter of who plays best, not who has the best deck.

I'd be wary of playing Collected Company in a deck that has less than 20 hits, actually, I'd prefer to be closer to 30
