Yes, I realize that there are no instants, sorceries, or enchantments. I think that I should fix that, but I don't know what to take out.

you are better off using the bolster 5 elephant than trying to rely on dromoka sticking with ajani and sage

Cut Karametra for protection and/or removal such as Valorous Stance. Karametra often comes out to late in the game to actually have an impact. You also require some ramp such at Courser of Kruphix to get your combo(s) faster. Other then that, good job.

Hills, he dosen't have enough ramp to utilize the Roaring Primadox+Sandsteppe Mastodon combo properly, nor does he have a way to remove/protect anything. Plus, other decks have made Sandsteppe Mastodon combos before, and this in something new. I'd seriously recommend some removal in tnose card slots instead.

So I should take out the Karametras and add in what. Valorous Stance?

I'm saying you can cut Karametra for the protection/removal/ramp spells of your choice.

I sort of just redid some of the deck. I took out a lot of things and added in some spells. Also, I have the Stratus Dancers for counter spells. I'm think of adding in some Silumgar's Scorn (You'll have to look it up because it's not on TappedOut yet). I added rampers like Shaman of the Forgotten Ways and Sylvan Caryatid. I think that they will shine in this deck. Also, I'm adding the Sarkhan's Triumphs to the deck. Those will allow me to get the dragons into my hand faster. Do you think this could potentially be a competitive deck? Every now and then my LGS has a standard tourney. Does anyone think I should enter this deck once I get the cards?

Hills - I would use Sandsteppe Mastodon, but that effect only happens when it enters the battlefield. I can do the other combo as many times as I need to.

Never mind about the Sarkhan's triumph. Just realized it was red. Oops.

Thanks!

Just added 2 Banishing Light because I had no removal other than Stratus Dancer.

Does anyone have any ideas for the sideboard?

Great! Banishing Light works almost everywhere! The only real problem occurs in game two, when your opponents board in some anti-enchantment cards. Considering that, I would put some "counter" spells or straight-up "destroy" spells in the sideboard, since Stratus Dancer only counters sorceries/instants. (Because Reclamation Sage is in standard)

True, do you have any suggestions for my sideboard? You can almost tell that they will sideboard in certain things. I'm new-ish to Standard and I don't know everything too well. Thanks for all of your help!

So, for sideboard you could throw in Reclamation Sage, some more Banishing Light, Dragonlord Dromoka and Eidolon of Rhetoric to make cont. players cry, Disdainful Stroke, Hushwing Gryff, and Reprisal.

(Sorry for the possibility overflow XD)

Another thing: if you're not worried about a buget, or if you already have a playset of these, I'd recommend throwing in Mana Confluence

alex105008 says... #17

Sorry, I said Eidolon of Rhetoric, but I ment Spirit of the Labyrinth.

March 11, 2015 5:54 p.m.

Thank you. I'm going to have a have a playset of Hushwing Gryff in the sideboard and I take out the Enduring Scalelords for control matches. That seems like it would be fine. I was thinking about Mana Confluence, but I don't think that I'll use them because I have 3 Sylvan Caryatid and 4 Shaman of Forgotten Ways. I think those are enough ways to fill the mana difficulties.

This is what I'm thinking...

4x Hushwing Gryff
3x Spirit of the Labyrinth
2x Banishing Light
2x Reclamation Sage
2x Disdainful Stroke
2x Dragonlord Dromoka

Great! You are probably better utilizing your sideboard than I am, so I can't give you suggestions on what to sideboard out.

You've earned my upvote and approval.

So I really like the deck idea. Although I think you should streamline it and just make it about 1 combo instead of both. Increase the chance of getting the combo.

I personally prefer the Enduring Scalelord portion. The only problem is that you need 2 of that guy on the board at the same time. I think you tried to address this with the Fated Infatuation. However, the UUU is brutal on the mana. How about trying "Mirrior Mockery"? (not in the database yet) Yes, you have to wait to swing before you get the second copy, but it also works as a blocker when you need to play it on one of their guys while trying to get the combo off\ improve your board position.

And why aren't you running Feat of Resistance? That's an instant speed enabler that not only sets your combo running, but also gives you protection so your 1,000,000\ 1,000,000 Scalelord isn't chump blocked buy a Vaporkin.

I'm trying to piece a build together with the Scalelord, Mockery, Feat, Caryatid, Valorous Stance, Anticipate, and Fleecemane Lion, but I'm still missing some spots...

March 13, 2015 9:47 a.m.

Mirror Mockery seems good. The only thing I might have to work around is the fact that they are gone at the end of combat. Good idea with Feat of Resistance. Gods Willing might just be better because I get to scry and its only . I just don't know what to take out. I want to keep both combos so that I will have 2 win cons. Thanks for looking at the deck.

Anyone who has commented on this deck, do you think that I should get this deck assembled and bring it to Game Day?

March 14, 2015 10:01 a.m.

Or anyone who hasn't commented here, do you people think that this deck could be okay for Game Day at my LGS?

March 15, 2015 10:19 a.m.

bellz76 says... #25

The purpose of Mirror Mockery is to get your infinite combo off with the Enduring Scalelord- if you get it, you don't need a next turn- because you've won. And in this case, Gods Willing is not better because it doesn't start the combo. Feat of Resistance gives protection and the counter.

Some of the cards you can take out-

1- Ajani, Mentor of Heroes 3 of him should be fine.2- Fated Infatuation the UUU is too much stress on the mana
2- Yisan, the Wanderer Bard does he really fit here?

even if you keep both combos in, these 5 slots could be allocated to other things. I'm also not crazy about the WW necessary for Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit. So that could be 2 more slots open.

And I really think you need more land in this deck. Even with 6 mana dorks, it's not likely you'll have enough mana to consistently cast your 5 and 6 cmc spells.

I don't think this deck is ready for a game day or FNM. I think you'll have mana issues- both in color and count, and I think you'll have issues trying to get either combo off. I get these issues when I fishbowl with this deck.
