Put in an extra Elspeth, Sun's Champion to make it a 60 card deck.

The extra card is Dictate of Erebos.

I'd put in 4x Brimaz, King of Oreskos instead of Dryad Militant or Eidolon of Rhetoric . Also Imposing Sovereign is just as nice as Blind Obedience plus it can be another attacking creature.

Brimaz, King of Oreskos contributes nothing to this archetype. Imposing Sovereign is a weaker, more easily removed version of Blind Obedience .

Just an idea since u mentioned u want to go a more control route... what if you dropped your pseudo removal (Banisher Priest and High Priest of Penance for actual removal and tightened up your creature base to only be enchantment creatures then packed some MB Extinguish All Hope to 1 side board wipe & beat face?

@APPLE01DOJ I think I'm going to have to wait to see how the format looks with JOU bringing lots of enchantment creatures to the table.

I love the idea, +1 for you.

How about Imposing Sovereign instead of Blind Obedience , oh do you need the Extort more than the non-enchantment body ?

How do Encroaching Wastes seem to work in the current standard environment ? I mean, can it actually deny even a tricolored deck ?

@lonewaer, I originally had Imposing Sovereign in here, but I thought that the combination of Extort and another enchantment for Sphere of Safety was a better option. I'm still not completely sold, though.

I mostly have Encroaching Wastes for that pesky Mutavault we all play ;)

I would say put some instants in for color protection such as Gods Willing as well as Tethmos High Priest so that you can get all your "Tax" creatures back into play as well as Imposing Sovereign still under 3 casting cost.

I do like the deck though +1

I had a similar concept, I just need to put it up.

I suggest Sphere of Safety : you run a lot of enchantments (24), and it disrupts a lot while you dig for Elspeth, Sun's Champion .

@lonewaer Hmm. I actually already had Sphere of Safety in here. Where did it go? I'll add it back.

Interesting concept. What about the possibility of using One Thousand Lashes for the life drain and lockdown? Feeds Sanguine Bond.

trentfaris242 says... #17

Sanguine Bond doesn't do what I think you think it does. Also, One Thousand Lashes is too expensive for what it offers.

Have you thought of putting in a couple Etheral Armour?

May 13, 2014 1:38 p.m.

trentfaris242 says... #19

@bilb0 I originally had them in, but the win con for this deck doesn't require attacking, so there's no point. You simply win by playing spells and activating Extort or Constellation. Literally all you do is play spells to win.

I think you would want more Underworld Connections because if you are winning by playing spells, you want to have a lot of access to them by drawing cards. It's also an enchantment which fits with the theme! I'd suggest -2 Athreos, God of Passage +2 Underworld Connections . Athreos is cool, but I don't think there are enough creatures to support it. Just my two cents. Awesome deck though, upvote!

@retnuh200 I'm going to test this current version this FNM. However, if I find that I need more card advantage, I would be taking out either 2x Oppressive Rays or 2x Spear of Heliod for them. Athreos, God of Passage is absolutely necessary for this deck. He allows me to freely play my enchantment creatures, because he punishes the enemy for having to deal with them.

You should cut Encroaching Wastes , even for basic lands. They are kinda bad.

shinobigarth says... #23

i don't like Sanguine Bond in here really. adds too many 5 drops. take them out for more Underworld Connections or have at most 1 Sanguine.

May 14, 2014 3:50 p.m.

shinobigarth says... #24

also what use is Spear of Heliod ? if you aren't attacking, the only use is destroying something that attacked you and this deck is all about not letting them attack at all.

May 14, 2014 3:54 p.m.

trentfaris242 says... #25

@shinobigarth That was my thinking on Spear of Heliod , so I'll probably change that. Sanguine Bond brings my 5-drops to 6, not very high. Also, it's part of my win con and synergizes extremely well with both Underworld Coinsmith and Nyx-Fleece Ram . I would literally never, ever take it out of this deck.
