I had to decide between Blood Baron of Vizkopa and Obzedat, Ghost Council for a finisher. It wasn't an easy choice but I went with Obzedat because I felt like it fit more with the theme of the deck and helped more with devotion. That and I wish I could burn every copy of Blood Baron in existence. I hate that guy.

Tbh, BBoV is now even out of BWMidrange decks, and I have not seen him in any sort of Junk Midrange decks. It seems people have come to the same conclusion as I did : not good enough (I still find it strange, seen his abilities).

I still think he's fantastic and I hate Wizards for ever printing him, but people are prepared to deal with him now. I know I am. That's why I have Celestial Flare in the side board.

just curious, but have you considered Armament of Nyx ? It seems like it would be a good card here as it has duel use's, denying Desecration Demon , Polukranos, World Eater (and his ability), Lifebane Zombie and other such big threats, all while giving you the option to just give you're Herald of Torment double strike ><

Also as far as finishers go, would Eidolon of Countless Battles not be a good one? there are 27 cards in you deck that buff him, (7 auras and 17 creatures), he stays as an enchantment (sticking with the theme) and is harder to remove (once bestowed)

just some thoughts

This deck doesn't need to attack 95% of the time. The only time it does is when I've stalled out against a similar deck. Even my finishers Archangel of Thune and Obzedat, Ghost Council almost never need to fight. Hence why I have no Herald of Torment or Eidolon of Countless Battles .

As for dealing with threats, I have big blockers such as Nyx-Fleece Ram and Grim Guardian and cards that shut down threats such as Banishing Light , Oppressive Rays , Sphere of Safety , and lots in the sideboard should I need it.

Also Armament of Nyx doesn't stop abilities at all. It's useless against one of the best cards in the meta, Pack Rat . Oppressive Rays is better in ever way. Almost every time it forces them to decide between casting spells or attacking/blocking/ability for their turn.

I have a deck very similar to this, biggest plays are Eidolon of Countless Battles and Ethereal Armor enchanting sheep...

I'm not going to explain why I don't have them for the tenth time. Read the comments.

He's great in Constellation decks, but this is a little more than that. This deck is all about being hyper defensive and the deck winning for you. I almost never, ever attack.

I hate playing this deck, but I play Mono-Red and it does nothing to stop Fanatic. At FNM it's never done better than 7th place. Very bad deck overall.

I've played this deck about 8 times and only ever not made it to top-8 out of 32+ once. But, you know, sorry to hear about your friend. This is my personal homebrew, so are you sure it's the same deck?

Have you considered Doomwake Giant ? He helps you control the opponent's side, triggers and provides constellation, and is a large body for blocking or even attacking (even though you said you don't normally attack with this deck). Not to mention he makes you laugh at weenie decks and Elspeth, Sun's Champion tokens.

@BlatantLizard I have been considering him for some time now. I will most likely cut back on an enchantment so that I can add him.

Back to Nature is getting reprinted.

May want to spash into Esper for Dispel or something.

@APPLE01DOJ Ya I saw that. Right now I think what I'll end up doing to try and deal with it is add Return to the Ranks . It has really good synergy with Constellation. If that doesn't work, I'll have to splash blue for counters :/

Although that still doesn't help my poor Sphere of Safety :(
