PAY YOUR TAXES
I made this deck with the thought, "Why has nobody flipped out about Vryn Wingmare???? It's a FLYING Thalia, Guardian of Thraben for goodness sake! I love many of the white cards in origins and this makes me believe it is the strongest color in standard post origins.
Here are a few key cards and a description of what they do for the deck:
Vryn Wingmare: WHAT? $2?? BUY THEM NOW. I LOVE this card so much. I think it is almost better than Thalia, because it isn't legendary. If you have even one out it can destroy control. It will become the main target on the board the instant it is played. This is one of the main cards this deck is based on.
Archangel of Tithes: Archangel of TITHES. Do you know what a tithe is? IT'S A TAX. I love this card almost even more than Vryn Wingmare. This card is great. It has evasion, makes Goblin Rabblemaster crap his shorts, and overall slows the opponent to a standstill. This is great for turn four or five. Even if you are playing against a creature light deck, it is a pretty good sized guy for four mana.
Spirit of the Labyrinth: Really good against control and anything running Day's Undoing. Good aggro and hate for 2 mana.
Eidolon of Rhetoric: slows down most thing, but since most of the time you will be playing one spell a turn anyway, it doesn't really affect us as much.
Kytheon's Irregulars
: Amazing card to dump the extra mana from Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx into. It's mostly there to tap down big stuff, but it is also a fairly large creature.
Knight of the White Orchid
: What a great reprint. Play big stuff faster and get a 2/2 for 2. I love it.
Oppressive Rays
: 1 mana pseudo-removal is fantasic if I have a Vryn Wingmare out. Nuff said.
Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit: Mostly in here to speed me up and slow the opponent down. It's great to pump my Vryn Wingmares and make the harder to kill. It is an overall great card for only 2 mana.
Wingmate Roc: Super good evasion and lifegain. This provides a TON of power for 5 mana. It is great for finishing the opponent or block some annoying larger creatures.
Kytheon, Hero of Akros
: This guy turn one is killer. Not only a 2/1 for 1, but it transforms (easily) into an amazing planeswalker that will help to finish of the opponent.
