Many years ago I played Legacy paper D&T and I loved it, but now I play MTGO (more flexible to my needs) I was looking for something similar. Modern is too expensive, but I stumbled upon Jamesfiek's Standard build from summer 2015:
Inspired by his version, I made a base setup for a slightly budget-version of Standard Death and Taxes after BFZ Rotation, but I'm uncertain wether it will be competitive enough before BFZ rotation, as it loses some interesting cards (the eidolons for instance) and BFZ doesn't add much new options.
I really want mono-white D&T to work in Standard, but I'm afraid I'll have to splash Blue or Black to get more options.
BFZ's cards that could work, but haven't added to my Maybe-board yet:
Gideon, Ally of Zendikar - doesn't work well with Kytheon, Hero of Akros
, and I expect it to become too expensive anyway.
Felidar Sovereign - Would be a fun alternate win, though I have to build my deck around it and then it'd probably not be D&T anymore.
The rest from BFZ doesn't seem inspiring enough.
I'm still fooling around with it so suggestions are more than welcome. The mana curve is centered on many 2 drops and lacks 3 drops. Mostly because most 3-drop staples from current Standard D&T will rotate out of Standard and I chose to replace them with 2-drops.
In Legacy I always loved Cataclysm and Origins has something similar in Tragic Arrogance, which I might consider as 1-off and another in SB.
If I had more budget, I'd run Hangarback Walker and proper fetch.
