The soundtrack of your opponent's mind as you swing for lethal...
Mono-Black is most certainly a fair and fun match up for everyone! Yes, that's a lie, but this deck is certainly the most fun I've had in standard for a while.
4000+ Views! Thank you for the interest everyone!
Believe it or not, this deck began life as a Dimir control deck and it is my intention that I shall keep this deck constant for standard, that is to say that, whatever happens to the Meta, I will always have a Black shell deck ready for FNM.
Key Interactions:
Master of the Feast
+ Their Face. The card's this deck's win condition, for shizzle, your win chance goes up dramatically if you get to swing even once with this guy 'cause, guess what, 5 damage is a quarter of their starting life total!
Mogis's Marauder
+ Pain Seer +
Tormented Hero
or
Gnarled Scarhide
or Bloodsoaked ChampionProvided you swing with your piker on turn two, dropping a Marauder on turn three means three things: 1) Your opponent is at 12 health on turn 3 2) You just got a free Mini-Bob draw 3)You have a lovely chumper for when things get scary in later turns. If you're going against a Mono-Black mirror, they're fine for game 1 as you still present a 6 damage threat of three attackers, they just lack evasion.
Pain Seer + Temple of DeceitWhilst playing one of these things for turn 3 through 5 stalls your aggro somewhat, popping down a Temple of Deceit post combat with a Pain Seer on turn 6 or 7 helps greatly with the whole not-dying thing. You feel so betrayed when you die in your untap step because a Hero's Downfall topped your deck or being pinged to your death in your upkeep by a
Herald of Torment
.
Sideboard:
Bile Blight,
Dark Betrayal
swaps out your other removal spells.
Brain Maggot comes in against Esper/Azorius control dicks to snag more key cards in addition to Thoughtseize.
Pharika's Cure
for aggro and mirror matches, kills little things AND heals you slightly.
Phyrexian Revoker. Superfriends decks are the worst.
Please comment any improvements you think I could make. I like this deck very much but constructive criticism never hurt anyone.
