Nice deck! Titans are by far my favourite creatures to use in decks.

So, answering your questions on your forum post:

  1. The land count is definitely adequate. It could easily go lower to 23 ish.

  2. I think Huntmaster is decent, but he could be something better.

  3. Dont switch it for Banefire , switch it for Bonfire of the Damned .

Now that that's out of the way I'll give you some other advice.

Birds of Paradise and some other dork (probably Arbor Elf should be in here. You need those 1 mana mana rampers. Your mana package should look like:

4 Birds of Paradise

4 Arbor Elf

4 Rampant Growth

4 Sakura-Tribe Elder

4 Solemn Simulacrum

4 Primeval Titan

3 Kessig Wolf Run

4 Inkmoth Nexus

4 Stomping Ground (or Rootbound Crag if you cant afford them)

12 Basic Lands.

That involves adding in 6 cards (since your removing 2 lands). For cuts, I would start with Emrakul. He's just too overkill and not needed. Savageborn Hydra as well. Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip is pretty weak. Beast Within just isn't needed. Finally, Domri Rade isn't as strong here as he could be with so many noncreature spells.

Hope this helps, good luck, +1!

Thanks a bunch! Sooo helpful. My only concern with mana dorks is my Slagstorm and they die really easily and often in my meta once my friends see the deck.

December 31, 2013 5:52 p.m.

Glad I helped! And the mana dorks are expendable. Once you get out a Primeval Titan / Inferno Titan or 6-8 lands you won't need them any more. And with all the other ramp them dying wont be too big of a deal.

I would go -

4x Arbor Elf (or something similar).

4x Birds of Paradise

4x Rampant Growth or Fertile Ground

4x Somberwald Sage . I cannot stress how stupid Somberwald Sage is. Getting a T2 Sage down puts you onto around 7 mana for T3.

@ChiefBell, I'd add in the 4 Somberwald Sage , what should I cut. Not sure what other dork to use, probably birds. Again, not real sure what to cut. Any thoughts on this would be welcomed.

There's this deck by TitansFTW which you can find here -

which is basically the same deck. I guess you could use it for inspiration. I don't think you need 25 land in a ramp deck. That defeats the point of ramp.

Fair enough, yeah, I've checked the deck out before but didn't really make the changes then because I felt like I was just being a copycat. I guess if I want to better the deck I need to change it.

ChiefBell says... #10

Well you can copy the manabase but then leave the rest.

January 1, 2014 9:54 a.m.

I can't really decide whether I want my ramp in the form of dorks or lands on the field. I'll think about this. And thanks for the comments. Even if it confuses me even more on what I want the deck to do ; )

You go heavy on dorks and try to get that Primeval Titan which gives the lands. I realize that land based ramp is usually better but it's also usually slower.

January 1, 2014 10:17 a.m.

Hmmm, that makes alot of sense.

the problem is that things like Nature's Lore and Three Visits aren't legal in modern so the absolute best land ramp isn't possible. Unfortunately you need to rely on mana dorks instead. This makes T1-3 very delicate BUT if the opponent cannot react by T3 then you essentially get your Primeval Titan out and go on to win.

I appear to have become some kind of flagstone for Modern ramp. Awesome.

The first thing I notice in your deck is the lack of dorks. That means you can only start being proactive on turn 2, and you can't drop threats until T4. The point of ramp is to start smacking down enormous threats as soon as possible and playing two turns ahead of the curve is too slow for a turn 4 format. Add Birds of Paradise and Arbor Elf .

Some cards seem out of place in here. Huntmaster doesn't help in ramp a huge amount, and Emrakul seems too expensive for a deck like this one. Xenagos and Domri seem sub par in Modern. A better 'walker for this deck would be Garruk Wildspeaker . He defends himself the turn he hits the field, he ramps consistently and he finishes games.

As for the land count, I think 23 would be ample in this deck given that the curve is not that high for ramp (if you remove Emrakul). My deck is an aggro variant of ramp and gets away with 22/23 lands.

I should mention that this deck is only played in my casual playgroup, I never get to attend events.

January 1, 2014 9:12 p.m.

I still greatly appreciate all the advice. It all helps : )

January 1, 2014 9:14 p.m.

TitansFTW, how do these changes seem? Again, I only play this casual.

January 2, 2014 3:45 p.m.

megawurmple says... #19

It certainly looks better, but I still think you should add 4 Arbor Elf . It adds more consistency to the deck and helps you drop fatties earlier and more regularly.

January 2, 2014 6:02 p.m.

WOW. It's way different now... Looks good. TitansFTW is right though, you need the 4 Arbor Elf and probably the full 4 Somberwald Sage .

January 2, 2014 9:05 p.m.

How's this looking guys? Thank you both sooo much gor the assistance!

January 3, 2014 4:13 p.m.

megawurmple says... #22

That looks much better. I'm glad I could be of service.

January 3, 2014 4:25 p.m.

You were a HUGE help. What do I gotta do to get a +1 outta you? Haha. But anyway, I'll be sure to test on my group and let you guys know.
