if I were you I would definitely be running Primordial Hydra s. I run a playset in my deck: you must die... AT INSTANT SPEED!!! (4th@FNM) and they do run extremely well. they give you something to ramp into, and they have trample if they have 10+ counters. and even better, at upkeep, the number of counters DOUBLE. cast it as a 5/5, next turn its a 10/10 trample. otherwise its a cool deck. it might not need prim hydra but I think it would be a good idea. +1

My Stomping Ground s are in another deck, so I'll stick with the crags and rampants for now.

I just love a good home brew. I'm all about creativity and also like to build my decks. +1 of course :) Just one suggestion: Anger of the Gods might be a good sideboard addition, replacing Slagstorm . It doesn't target players but kills Voice of Resurgence , Kitchen Finks and friends for good.

Tested the deck and it seems you have pretty good win cons :)

Btw, have a look at my home brew deck Rakdos Infection and comment if you like.

Nice work.

I like this deck, +1 from me. One question though, why not run Xenagos, God of Revels ?

April 6, 2014 10:53 p.m.

Because I don't own one : ) I want some now though.

Thanks for all your help as well InconspicuousPotato! Any sb thoughts?

April 7, 2014 6:19 p.m.

Care to elaborate on swap outs? I like a lot of those suggestions.

well it's hard to say because I don't really understand your current SB.

For instance, Garruk Wildspeaker is a great card in a ramp deck, but I don't know which matches u intend to bring him in for?

I kinda think u have too much of your SB set up to be an extension of your deck game 1 rather than answers game 2. I would MB the 4th copy of bolt & drop beast within. I would also MB the fattie singletons or drop them all together.

Keep the actual SB cards and start over. If u haven't played competitively, meta's vary but u can almost guarantee u will be up against Twin, Pod, & Affinity. So have your SB teched for those.

Shatterstorm and Creeping Corrosion for Affinity

Grafdigger's Cage for Pod

Torpor Orb or Spellskite for Twin

After that, consider Control, Tron, Hatebears, Jund and Infect for next likely decks to encounter.

I think Ancient Grudge is actually better than Shatterstorm or Creeping Corrosion against affinity. The instant speed and lower mana cost make it easier to cast when and where you need it, and the flashback for 1 mana makes it plain ridiculous.

I love Inkmoth Nexus but I don't think it's the best choice for this deck.

Besides Kessig Wolf Run u don't have any way to pump it. On top of that 7 colorless is wayyy too many. If this was my deck, I would run 4x Treetop Village instead.

TitansFTW I agree that for a lot of decks that Ancient Grudge would be a better choice for the reasons u listed but this is a ramp deck, and taking out their entire board (even kills Glimmervoid ) T3 when they're in top deck mode simply wins the game. Affinity is co-dependent of itself and when in top deck mode with no board, can't usually supply threats fast enough to make a difference. Taking out a Cranial Plating only slows them down.

I personally run Ancient Grudge in my ramp deck and I find it to be far more useful. Not only is it a more versatile card (it can come in against Pod), but it is instant speed and costs less mana, meaning that you aren't wasting an entire turn playing it. Two well placed kill spells will neuter an affinity deck easily.

April 8, 2014 1:20 p.m.

Valid points all around, I moved in my only copy of Torpor Orb for twin, 3 Ancient Grudge for pod/affinity, I have 2 Sowing Salt for tron(is it a thing still?) My buddy runs a budget mono U tron. 2 Relic of Progenitus for GY hate. 3 Anger of the Gods for a sweeper of sorts.

And you're right APPLE01DOJ, my SD was sorta an extension of my MB but that's due to me having zero competitive experience aside from playing with my friends competitively. Should I just nix domri and sarkhan? To mainboard the 2 garruks and make more SB room?

Love ramp and titans. However consider Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite . I know that's a whole extra colour, but you have a lot of fixing, the only thing you may have to change is a Temple Garden here and there. A lot of the time it's a wipe on their side of the board and a total game changer, it's so stronk.

Hey Krause, this deck doesn't load for me when I'm trying to test it. I wonder if the singleton foils are messing it up? I also noticed when I drew a sample hand, the forests and the mountains came up broken...that could be it too...they're not loading even on this screen. I wonder if you have to change the set they're tagged as or something...

April 15, 2014 6:37 p.m.

Okay. I'll switch em.

April 15, 2014 6:51 p.m.

Any luck MindAblaze!?

April 15, 2014 6:54 p.m.

I changed them and tried it on my phone, worked fine.

MindAblaze says... #24

Yeah, I tried it at work and I tried it on my phone and it worked in both places. I just hadn't had the minute it takes to comment back since.

I tested against my new Chandra Ablaze build and you got mana flooded...then you dropped an 8/8 Savageborn Hydra that I didn't have the answer for and Kessig Wolf Run gave it the trample it needed to finish me off.

April 15, 2014 9:36 p.m.

Jeez. I love that hydra. Most people discount it, but dropped at the right time with a wolf run is deadly.
