I like Key to the City over slip because it's pretty good here, and starts multiple time

+1...I may do a slightly more budget version (even though this doesn't break the bank...I'm still cheap) and -2x Arlinn Kord Flip and +2x Key to the City. I like the unblockable effect and the possibility for card draw.

Wolfshadowwind, Guardians, and Phat_Shadow,
Key to the City is definitely going into the 75, so thanks much to everyone who's suggested it. I knew the 'can't be blocked' effect was awesome, but I didn't really realize how good the Rummage effect was. In a grindy game with plenty of mana, it's just sooooo nice to be able to toss a card at end of Opponent's turn and almost immediately draw two!
Thanks again!
Phat_Shadow,
Thanks for the kudos! Nature's Way is a great budget substitute for Arlinn Kord
Flip too.

i have a land destruction deck, that struggled a LOT... 2 cards made the fucking difference!Kessig Prowler Flip and Giant Spectacle ! .If you manage to spit these 2 out, you will do MAJOR damage. PLUS, later game, if you transform the prowler, it is a fucking unblockable creature XD .Copy the deck and try it out, to see if this works for you :P
Wish you the best on the upcoming tournaments !

I've run multiple playtest between Chandra Ima Winner vs Steel-Cannon Pummeler (KLD) and they're very close until turn 5-7. Very Intresting matchup!

Ol_man,
Yeah, that's a fun match-up for sure. I'm not exactly sure how I'd sideboard against your deck. Definitely +2 Incendiary Flow/-2 Electrostatic Pummeler ... maybe +2 Key to the City/-2 Pump spells ... and if I saw a lot of your removal, probably the Island and Revolutionary Rebuffs.
Thanks much for playtesting!

If the mirror is so bad why no Commencement of Festivities? Also I'd consider a white splash for access to Blessed Alliance, Fragmentize, and Immolating Glare? Those are usually very effective against the types of decks you're currently weak to.

Zaueski,
Thanks much for the thoughts, but I'm not sure any would be right for this deck.
I've considered Commencement of Festivities for sure ... it's superb in the mirror and could give the deck an extra turn vs. Emrakul, the Promised End or Ormendahl, Profane Prince Flip. But it's more situational than I prefer, and really too narrow (since Pummeler represents a very small portion of my meta). Plus I should be able to get a 50% rate against Pummeler with nothing more than better play!
I like the versatility of Blessed Alliance, and Immolating Glare is fine, but I personally prefer the more consistent removal options available in Red. And while Fragmentize can certainly hit more targets than Natural State, it comes up short against Gearhulks and Metallurgic Summonings.
Thanks again though!

You can splash very easily with a Plains in the sideboard, servant and aether hub in the main if needed. A lot of decks have been doing that for blue

Guardians
Yeah, I've been running a Temur sideboard since the very first days of this deck.
December 26, 2016 11:57 a.m.
Oh, whoops. I thought your maybeboard was your sideboard. Yeah, 2 extra colors might be a bit much :)
December 26, 2016 1:04 p.m.
My question is how consistently you get the lands you need?
I've run a 19 land deck before, but with twice as many dorks. So how often do you get mana screwed (if at all)?
December 26, 2016 7:43 p.m.
Guardians,
No worries! I'll tweak the description and try to make it a little more clear. Thanks!
Skwarka,
I've found it to be surprisingly consistent. I think running 4x Attune with Aether is key ... it seriously makes the deck feel like it has 23 Lands instead of just 19.
A typical Pummeler deck runs 20 Lands, and I ran it that way for quite a while. But I found myself mana-flooded just a little more often than I prefer, so I dropped one.
All that said, if I go with a new sideboard (shown as the maybeboard, as I type this), I'll probably drop a Longtusk Cub and add a Mountain to the 75, to support all the three -and four-drops.
Best of luck (and skill!) to you, if you end up trying it out!

I have to say I'm impressed by all the work you've done on your build. This deck is awesome, pretty cheap and you also seem to be succesfull enough with it. I wonder what goodies we'll get from KLD to improve it even more and finally bring Gruul where it belongs: at the top of the food chain!

Chandrian,
Thanks tons! And also thanks for all your comments and suggestions along the way! Notably, Nature's Way (on the sideboard, as a mini-Arlinn) and Commencement of Festivities (on the maybeboard, for the mirror) are there because of you!
Because you don't need answers if your opponent's dead.

Natural State is a good instant speed answer to the mirror, although it won't bypass a Blossoming Defense...
In all likelyhood you'll need to work on out aggro-ing them, which will make you more glass canon-ish or you'll just have to use two instant speed removal spells. And there are plenty of those in your colors which are useful against other creature based strategies. Lightning Axe, Galvanic Bombardment, and Chandra's Pyrohelix to name a few... The simple reality is that the mirror is bad for you because they'll usually be designed to go faster. The answer is to slow down or speed up both of which weaken you against your other matches. If you built a Naya sideboard you may have a couple other options like cards I've previously mentions but Gruul is notorious for not having very good control and being mostly aggro.

Zaueski,
That's a really great insight; thanks so much! I'm embarrassed to say I had forgotten how much more Aggro a "typical" Pummeler build is, compared to this list. I just recently swapped to Galvanic Bombardment in the sideboard and have been impressed ... looking at other options to lover the curve may actually be the best approach
Thanks again!

mrmango,
I'm not sure it's really that great, but I've certainly found it an absolute blast to play!
Thanks much!

Where's Built to Smash? Seems to me it would be much better than Brute Strength. Just my personal opinion.
December 30, 2016 1:08 p.m.
mrmango,
You may have missed this in the Strategy and Card choices section:
GREAT CARDS I'M NOT USING AND WHY: I know Built to Smash is a Pummeler staple, but I've been stuck with one in my hand way too often, wishing it could pump up a Creature on defense or wishing it could grant Trample to a non-Artifact Creature.

Runlue,
As I'm heading into the weekend, I'm still trying to figure out what to do about BG Delirium. I'm leaning towards Slip Through Space on the sideboard, to blast right past Ishkanah, Grafwidow and her brood. Even with that though, I think I need something for Emrakul, the Promised End too (partly for BG Delirium, but also for any Aetherworks Marvel decks that pop up after their strong performance at last weekend's GPs). For her, I'm not sure yet if I'm going with Ceremonious Rejection or Clip Wings (which gets around her Protection for Instants ability very) ...
Appreciate any thoughts you (or anyone reading) may have!
