Sticks n' Stones - Landfall

Modern Casual RG (Gruul)

Aftertherevolution

Maybeboard

One of my favourite decks right now.

The main idea is to get Grove Rumbler and some friends out and slam through with 1 or 2 big land drops. Jaddi Offshoot in early for some D and life buffer, rounded out with some Geopedes to keep things busy until I can get a big land drop in turns 5-7.

Drops come in a combo of cards like Khalni Heart Expedition, Mina and Denn, Wildborn, Atarka's Command , Evolving Wilds, Nissa's Renewal, and Blighted Woodland.

Trying out Slab Hammer to see how it works, might be a little slow, but could keep the land drops consistent if the game goes longer.

Also aware that there are a number of expedition lands that could help out here. But this is a deck I want to actually play, which means card costs have to stay low. (Unless I open a card here or there ;)

Would appreciate any ideas on:

  • building a well rounded sideboard to help me make it to the wincon
  • converting it to standard
  • ways to make it more efficient

Issues of concern

  • getting the land:other ratio right
  • wincon generally requires building up to it and then using it up (big land drop) ... need ways to recover if first waves fail
  • lacking on defense

so far working good. Ground Assault has been handy against some eldrazi monsters. Put the deck back to what I am actually playing now.

Having now gotten to a game where I've used up all my basic lands, limiting my landfall power, I'm looking at some big creatures to put in to take advantage of my land base. Rubblehulk is the current fave, as I can potentially leverage earlier with it's bloodrush ability. Ulvenwald Hydra could be good too.
