rjphilla thank you, Mistcutter Hydra is not what you want as a late game plan, not enought stats, not evasive enought and there is Groundbreaker for last damage push. I think Dungrove Elder is better for late game, better stats per cmc and more evasive.

kbludoo 1/1 for 3 is too weak, not evasive and it needs too much time to grow. If you compare this with Dungrove Elder you understand what I mean.

I've become a big fan of Blossoming Defense and Nature's Way.

DukeNewcomb thank you for your advice. Blossoming Defense is a good card no doubt, I think it's a meta call and it depends on how you build your deck. My built is pretty aggressive so I don't care much about protect my creatures but I imagine it's good in yours. About Nature's Way I'm not really sure, it's a better Prey Upon but 2cmc instead of 1cmc is a not so small difference. I think it works in a build with more small creatures, maybe with deathtouch, so you can destroy a creature and you still have a deathtouched blocker. In this build I believe Prey Upon does a better job cause you usually have bigger creatures.

i would replace an Unravel the Aether for a Deglamer for diversity, especially when cards like Meddling Mage and Nevermore exist.

Great deck MagicMat! And great comment section you have going here! I feel like I got a MTG education browsing through it.

I feel your your frustration with some of the suggestions. I see you are trying to do something specific here and it is not super helpful when someone says, "try this $50 card," or, "add these 2 extra colors." So I will refrain from recommending Goyf, fetch lands, and Golgari Charm.

That being said if you play the same dudes all the time it might be fun to have an alternate build. I play planeswalkerless Abzan and have a ramp build and a discard heavy build that I posted here Abzan Beatdown. This makes it fun for me, and, honestly, fun for the guys I play against as they try to figure out what I am doing.

For you the obvious Plan B is Collected Company build. It may not be better then what you are doing, but showing up one night with 4X Coco and 4X Lead the Stampede with all the hate and pumps in the SB, and 31 beaters in the MB could be fun!

If you have time I would love to get some eyes on my deck Abzan Beatdown, too. Any help is appreciated!

JoshFox thank you a lot. I'm glad that you like thi deck and you've found comments useful, I'm not a great MTG player but I always try to explain my considerations in the best way I can while keeping me open to new possibilities. I always like that someone wants to contribute to this deck, so I hope I did not seem peevish in some comments. About your idea I do not think it's bad but I would like to build a definitive version before creating alternative builts. I think a coco build would be just a worse version of the current deck, too slow and needs more 3cmc creatures but never say never.

Have you ever thought about Mold Adder in the sideboard against blue black decks. It can grow out of control if they can't remove it. Just a suggestion. (:

Obstinate Baloth is really good against discard in the sideboard. I run a more midrange stompy list that i'll post someday. But I found this card to be amazing against 8-rack and lillies in general.

I play with Wilt-Leaf Liege and Loxodon Smiter which have the same anti-discard effect. It is funny (for me) when it hits. Just depends if you want Life Gain, Anthem, or anti-counter.

MagicMat, or any body else who knows, how does Dryad Militant play at the table? Does she draw hate, create a soft lock, or just get overrun quickly?

Gody322 thanks for your advice. Mold Adder is quite interesting, I'll try it for sure.

YourBoi-tman thank you. Obstinate Baloth as other anti-discard creatures is too expensive, 4 cmc is a lot for this deck and most of the times your opponent can choose which card to discard so unless it's the only card in your hand you don't get value from it.

JoshFox Dryad Militant is a great 1 cmc creature, annoying for many decks. Good against Tarmogoyf, Snapcaster Mage and Flashback effects.

Did you consider Lifecrafter's Bestiary?
It seems to be exactly the cards that helps a lot in more durdly games.

Xica thank you for suggestion. It's quite fun that I removed Lifecrafter's Bestiary for Shaper's Sanctuary in the last update. I'm testing this version for now, I'll go back to the old one if I find this worst.

Greetings!

It looks like you're getting a lot of good input into this deck. I tend to play Mono-Green (almost) exclusively in the modern format, and I've become a bit of a specialist at it. This particular type of deck happens to be my favorite - see Don't Let 'Em Breathe for my version.

First off, while he doesn't technically fit the 'budget' theme, Rhonas the Indomitable is simply too perfect for this deck not to be considered. Secondly, while its certainly not built as a 'counter' deck, there is too much synergy there to be had not to play to that strength. Obviously you want to keep your classic threats in place, but when you can work in creatures that gain counters, why wouldn't you? That and its utility is what moved Scavenging Ooze into the main deck for me ahead of the Tusker. Finally, you definitely want some removal - not much, because this deck is designed to win fast and sitting there with unneeded removal in your hand is a death sentence. For this role, I've found Don King (Ulvenwald Tracker) absolutely ideal. He's a creature you can swing with in a pinch, provides reusable removal and is especially effective with creatures like Rhonas or Predator Ooze. If he draws removal then great, that's less your opponent has to use on your actual threats.

As for the sideboard, I've found Heroic Intervention to be the perfect gut punch to let you push through a winning rush or to counter those otherwise unstoppable board sweepers that can really neuter your deck.

I like Shaper's Sanctuary, but according to everything that I can find, its inclusion makes the deck illegal for Modern play.

Hope this offers some useful insight! If you have any questions or comments, please let fly (here or under my deck). I always enjoy discussing mono-green possibilities.

StoryArcher thanks for your help. I think your point of view is more midrange oriented. Rhonas the Indomitable, Scavenging Ooze, Ulvenwald Tracker and Predator Ooze are good cards but too situational and slow for my deck. High cmc cost creatures should be game defining creatures, at least in my case because I don't play ramp cards so I have to play the best creature for cmc. As you said this deck wants to win fast and I believe that cards you mentioned don't help with that.

Shaper's Sanctuary is modern legal but it hasn't be released yet, this is why you see this deck illegal for modern.

Open to discuss anything you want to improve our mono-green jewels.

Great example of a mono green stompy deck. For budget reasons, I also came up with a mono green stomp deck to stay semi competitive for the modern format. Our list is pretty similar with the exception of a few flavor differences, would you check mine out and tell me what you think: Mono STOMP

DexztrO I think Great Sable Stag is just better

I would recommend Vexing Shusher for your sideboard in case you run into a control deck and want to increase your chances of dropping your bombs. He cost a bit but worth it.
