Hum the motive of "Spooky spooky skeleton"
STOMPY STOMPY Stompy Stompy
With Kaladesh one of the most popular budget archetypes is back into standard. This is a deck that consists of huge creatures pressuring the opponent from turn 1. I think that the tactics are pretty straightforward and no special description required. Though I'll write a bit about every card choice.
Cards:
1-Drops
Scythe Leopard
- probably the best 1 drop in the format for this type of decks at the moment. Dies to ping at opponents turn as all the other 1-drops but has a good 2/2 body on our first turns. 4-of.
Kessig Prowler
- Not as great as
Scythe Leopard
as 1-drop but a little bit better as a topdeck.
2-Drops
This is the most contested slot in the deck. Let's see what we have here.
Voltaic Brawler - one of two cards that make this deck possible. Nuff said. 4-of.
Duskwatch Recruiter
- Not really sure about this one. If it flips it wins the game, if not can be useful sometimes probably. 2-of at the moment. Definitely one of meta dependent cards in the deck.
Noose Constrictor
- I'm personally not a big fan of this card, but it is definitely a really strong one. Currently 4-of.
Longtusk Cub - I'm experimenting a lot with 2-drops and it is the latest addition to the deck. If you are on a play and you play this on turn 2 this card is insane. In other cases rather meh.
3-Drops
Lathnu Hellion - the card that with Voltaic Brawler makes this deck possible. Again not much to say about it. 4-of.
Hanweir Garrison - After a lot of experiments in this slot that included Zendikar Nissa, Tireless Tracker and Sin Prodder I've foun out that Hanweir Garrison is the most interesting choice. it helps us to go a little bit wide, which may be necessary for the last points of damage and overall it is 4/5 in stats for 3 mana.
4-Drop
Goldnight Castigator
- 4 power, haste, evasion? If the mana cost would not include double red the deck could probably include more copies. But a solid 2-of.
Removal and battletricks/pump spells.
Blossoming Defense - the main problem of battle tricks is that you can trade 2 for 1 which is pretty bad. Making your big creature even bigger AND giving it hexproof makes it an awesome card and the best battletrick/pump spell. Oh, yeah it also costs just . 4-of.
Uncaged Fury - One-shoting people is awesome. This card allows us to finish the game on turn 4 and it makes this deck the fastest in the format alongside WR tokens.
Harnessed Lightning - Just good removal spell. May use the energy from other resources to kill Avacyn, or provide us an additional energy.
Natural State - the current choice of artifact hate.
Sideboard
Ceremonious Rejection
- Very good sideboard card that targets mostly Aetherworks, but also good against Colossus and emerge decks.
Fevered Visions - Fixes out Grixis and Jeskai control match-ups.
Impetuous Devils
- the replacement of
Goldnight Castigator
against red decks.
Savage Alliance - the way to deal with thopters/servos/spirits.
Verdurous Gearhulk - Goes into the mainboard when we are on the draw and in all the cases against the other aggro decks.
