1. I will mulligan unless I have at least one combo piece.

2. Then I go digging for a second. If you noticed, most cards in this deck replace themselves.

3. I have a repeatable source that is my combo. I have enough cantrips that cost 1 to not run out of mana.

I have been testing with it and it is still pretty versatile after turns two and three as long as you have one of the two pieces and preferably (IMO) one of the elixirs. Once both pieces are in place. It is pretty much game over. Direct and immediate removal is required for the other player to stop you. I was testing it against my mill deck and it went to turn 10 still winning the match 2-1 with game two lasting only two turns.

This is an incredibly interesting deck. I really wish I could suggest something, but I have nothing. Very well done, and I hope you don't mind if I assemble this one day and try it out at a modern FNM.

I've been trying to find a modern deck that is reasonably budget. came upon storm, and im glad i saw your deck. this is very interesting, and i think i like it more than the electromancer storm deck

What about Tainted Strike ? Poisoning is fun too!!

And maybe Rebuff the Wicked ... Just to cover for removal...

@notamardybum: Just beware of the kill spells in Modern

@DSteider: I'm not trying to win through combat damage, so no Tainted Strike . It will go in Storm and Blitz, though. The thing about my protection spells is that they cost 0 mana. Spellskite is two mana up front and stops removal. Disrupting Shoal is my Force of Will . Therefore, Rebuff the Wicked just doesn't cut it.

I'm new to modern and have been researching conventional storm and was wondering why Pyromancer Ascension wouldn't be used here? Seems like copying everything you cast would be beneficial but like I said I'm new so I'm probably missing something.

But this isn't conventional storm. This is much faster than conventional storm, and so Pyromancer Ascension just takes up space.

Great deck! I'm surprised a storm deck like this hasn't seen more play in daily's, PTQ's, and even the Pro Tour. Extremely fast and even though there are answers; you have to have them early....love the deck. +1 for sure.

Well it should! It seems good enough to literally "run through" a daily, and even a bigger tournament....do you have it on MTGO? I'd be happy to send you a few tickets so you could take down a daily! It deserves to be seen!

What about Reach Through Mists ? A solid vanilla budget cantrip for what you're going for.

I now have purchased all the cards on ebay to make this happen minus the weird. Which i already had and the total cost was around 70$ very much looking forward to taking this to modern night in april.

Cool. The SB gets a lot more expensive, w/2 Spellskite and $20 a pop and 3 Disrupting Shoal at $10 a pop.
