Maybeboard

A Jund () build that uses Storm mechanics in order to create an aggressive force with Thrasta, Tempest's Roar.

This deck is built around having Thrasta, Tempest's Roar or Storm Entity enter the field on turn 3 for victory.

Initially, I thought the deck provided ample ramp through Ignoble Hierarch and Braid of Fire. The key components went through Rite of Flame, Manamorphose, and Open the Omenpaths. After some time a few changes were made and now Howling Mine is my method of earning some extra draw. Other players be damned for benefits. Ancient Tomb or Ignoble Hierarch on turn 1. You could also use Rite of Flame for Howling Mine on turn 1. The point is to have dork or two mana access from the Ancient Tomb so that you can cast Birgi, God of Storytelling   on turn 2.
Play Birgi, God of Storytelling   on turn 2. If you're not holding one at game start, maybe consider using that Ancient Tomb to drop Howling Mine on turn 1; draw power is so essential to this deck.
Using a flurry of combinations, this is where the Storm should be starting to really come outta nowhere. Birgi, God of Storytelling   is gonna buy back 1 red mana each time you cast a spell, and even if Thrasta, Tempest's Roar doesn't make the scene, a Storm Entity is sure to shake things up a bit. At absolute worst you cast Tendrils of Agony.
May 2022-updated to introduce more access to draw on each turn as needed, trimmed Braid of Fire, Karakas, and Miren, the Moaning Well from the mainboard list. Now using Howling Mine to promote draw more readily, as well as horizon lands that sac to draw. (Nurturing Peatland, Fiery Islet) oh, and we dont needs Empty the Warrens like that. Pump the tendrils!
June 2022-so I've discovered that most of the time you can miss pay off opportunities because of weaker cards eating up slots, or losing all of the gas before you hit the payoff cards. The new updates are: Open the Omenpaths, Temur Battle Rage, and Might of Old Krosa have been taken out of the deck. To offset the issue, I've introduced Turn the Earth in order to grab back necessary cards like Manamorphose, Rite of Flame, or I mean.. literally anything you dumped the first time around (of casting spells). The other new introduction is Hungry for More so that getting some kinda payoff after dumping dummy amount of spells can at least net a body that can give you a 6-life advantage.
July 2022-alright, so prior to the Masters 2022 drop, Seasoned Pyromancer is being added as a playset. Turn the Earth is kept as a two-of, and Hungry for More is still a thought, and sits in the Maybeboard. That should bring the necessary focus to body presence, consistent pressure, and spell-to-body ratio.
  • "Why doesn't this deck mainboard more ?"

Because I wanted to do this in Jund, and not have it be reminiscent of every Gifts Storm deck I've faced that mains a playset of Baral, Chief of Compliance.

  • "This seems.. difficult to navigate. Do you win often?"

No, I do not. Mostly because keeping track of my triggers and Storm count can be a bit overwhelming.

  • "What's the deal with the sideboard..?"

It's a toolbox of one-offs that could help keep my deck afloat in games 2 and 3, i.e. you come up against burn or control and need some responses/removal to keep it popping.
