Rumors are fragile things to base a livelihood on, but sometimes they can pay off. One unusually persistent tale has reached your ears several times, now: There is a treasure of unimaginable value hidden in a consecrated and sealed vault under the old church in the desert--a collection of gems and precious stones valuable enough to make anybody and their descendents rich for a hundred years. Many treasure hunters and explorers have braved the catacombs, but most return empty-handed and discouraged. Some don't return at all--it's an old and crumbling building, and there are undoubtedly many ways to get lost down there. A very few, however, come back paranoid and unstable, refusing to be left alone, telling everyone who will listen about shadows with teeth and unholy screams. These ramblings can probably be safely put aside as the result of too much darkness and fear. After all, nothing bigger than a rat could possibly live under the church for any real length of time, right? Nothing could be alive down there...
