Can anyone think of a way to combat flyers in this deck?

If you're going all in the blasphemous act then I recommend Soulfire Grand Master for lifegain and Forbidden Orchard to make act cheaper.

jingleheimer73 both brilliant suggestions, thank you! What would you take out of the deck to fit Soulfire Grand Master in?

Would you say Pyroclasm may be a better choice than Anger of the Gods? So that Anger of the Gods is not going to remove Boros Reckoner & Spitemare. Do I even need either of these in the sideboard with Blasphemous Act in play?

  • This sideboard is giving me a headache.

I personally run Volcanic Fallout over anger and pyroclasm because it is instant speed and it hits them for 2 as well (I run boros burn). I agree though that dealing 2 damage is better with reckoner. Also I would run some of them since act is only a 4/60, so there may be games you dont draw it and it isnt always the easiest to cast. You may want to consider Shivan Meteor. It isn't a board wipe though.

Finally, I would run Erase over quiet purity for sure. I personally run Wear / Tear though because it is a better catch all. For other sideboard options feel free to check out my "fetchless boros burn" deck.

I had the same idea for a deck. And it is really fun to play! Here's mine Martyrdom. Not sure if it will help you out, I haven't played or tweaked it in awhile. Lemme know if it does! +1 to you sir.

Arcbond Goblin Diplomats Vertigo off the top of my head. I'm not a modern player, but i imagine you could get some use out of them, at least as sideboard cards.

rlowry93 +1 right back at you, Sir! Vexing Shusher is something I hadn't considered although I get the feeling that he wouldn't be on the field long enough to use his ability more than once. Still might play test it online. Thanks!

orionwinterfire thanks for the suggestions! Arcbond is a great suggestion! I may even have a few copies in my standard stuff. Goblin Diplomats could definitely work too but I'd need to think if it's worth cutting anything to fit them in.

September 2, 2015 3:16 p.m.

My (relatively uninformed) opinion about Goblin Diplomats is that whether to mainboard it, sideboard it, or ignore it really depends partly on your play style but mostly on your meta. It's awesome against fat non-fliers and creatures with tap activated abilities. Speaking as an on-again off-again standard player, it's probably a decent sideboard choice.

Also, Wall of Hope?

jakeB-88 says... #18

Wall of Hope was in the deck when I first built it but it never stayed on the field long enough to gain me any life. The side board as it is at the moment is pretty solid so I don't know where it could fit maybe cut Deflecting Palm. But I'd be loathed to cut it because of Soulfire Grand Master. Goblin Diplomats is a card I will think about though.

The thing about Vexing Shusher is you need only use his ability once if you have multiple damage redirection creatures on the field and drop a Blasphemous Act. I've also seen Chain Reaction do fairly well in this kind of deck.

jakeB-88 says... #20

That's true but what gets cut to fit Vexing Shusher in? If I have a Grand Abolisher out counterspells aren't an issue. I still want to play more than two copies in the deck just can't decide how I'm going to do it. I may cut a basic land and run 3.

I play this deck... i think Arcbond is very important.. .

1st with Pariah and Boros Charm you give indestructible to Recogner, spirit, and doll (already indestructible) and is infinite damage to opponent.

2nd If the oponent or you attack with a big creature, you play Arcbond on blocker creature and BUM, we can redirect damage from recogner, spirit and stuffy to opponent.

Last.. for lifelink other option is Scourge of the Nobilis cause gives +2+2 also and +1+0 with both mana.

cheers!

Oh and dont forget Shivan Meteor

JuAnChO181 when you say you play this deck do you have a decklist? Thanks for the suggestion! I didn't even consider the infinite combo using Arcbond! My only concern is I'm at the point in the deck where it is working nicely and I wouldn't know what to cut to fit Arcbond in. Maybe I could cut a basic land a Dawn Charm and a Lightning Bolt ( I would only run 3, I think) What would you cut if it was you? Scourge of the Nobilis is a card that I have thought about before but i'm not a huge fan of auras in a deck where I have no way of getting them out of my graveyard, easy 2 for 1 with any destroy creature spells/abilities. Finally, Shivan Meteor was going to be in this deck from the beginning but after play-testing what usually happened is the creature I was hitting with it would be removed before it resolved. So it got cut before I posted the deck on here.

I play this deck as well because it's hilarious. The only difference being that I use 2 Roast and only 1 Blasphemous Act. I find that I don't usually have the 4-6 turns needed to wait before I cast something for a lot of mana. I like being able to quickly burn them for 5 damage. Super fun deck though. I also beat my friend's Green/White Collective Company deck with it. _

jakeB-88 says... #25

Hi SturWulf, I have put Roast in the maybe board for now until I can play test against some different decks at my store. Blasphemous Act tends to do OK but I understand what you mean about about it needing a longer game to play it but with the life gain options I don't mind waiting a little longer to play it. And to be honest with you I would miss the look of abject horror when you slap it down and wipe all the creatures that they have worked so hard to ramp up even if you don't have lethal. When you play it. Lol. Throw into the mix Mortal's Ardor and/or Soulfire Grand Master and even without lethal you can gain a silly amount (if not infinite) life.
