A work in progress for a reanimator deck in Pioneer. I've been playing with ratios and looking for great reanimation targets as well as reanimation spells.
You can fill your graveyard up using the self mill cards like
Satyr Wayfinder
,
Stitcher's Supplier
, or
Jadelight Ranger
. You can get a bomb out of your hand with
Cathartic Reunion
or
Thrill of Possibility
. When you get the big threats into your graveyard reanimate them using
Blood for Bones
and
Bond of Revival
.
Overall it seems to be a pretty nice deck but I'm still tinkering with it to make it better.
The deck functions like a big machine, either dumping creatures you need (and hopefully not all of your reanimation spells) into your graveyard while letting you cycle your hand to get to your pieces. Early game can be fairly strong do to
Deathrite Shaman
being able to gain you back precious life/ramp you and
Jadelight Ranger
being a fairly good chump blocker that also selectively mills you.
I could go back to using at least one copy of
Whip of Erebos
if I think there isn't enough of a reanimation package but things seem to be running smoothly for the most part. There are some brick hands that happen when you draw a bunch of bombs or mill a bunch of reanimation spells but that doesn't hinder you as much the more you learn the deck and see the lines of play.
The best I've gotten out of the deck so far is a turn 3 Ulamog which is hilarious but on average you should have a threat by turn 5 minimum but you have to know your resources and lines of play, as stated earlier.
Also I'll definitely be looking into the Escape mechanic as more Theros: Beyond Death spoilers come out to see if something might break this deck.
I'm thinking about cutting Ulamog down since Oko is a thing. Atarka takes care of and Oko that's already on the board but can still be a viability when she gets elked. Drakuseth is a monster when you give him haste with
Bond of Revival
and can deal with an established Oko in such cases as well. As suggested I replaced one of my previous bombs with
Hornet Queen
in order to prevent all my bombs from losing to a single planeswalker.
As for the side deck, I have chosen to use
Abrupt Decay
's as a way to get rid of problematic graveyard hate, as well as
Return to Nature
, and both of these cards can function in other ways to help you as well. Dragonlord Kologhan can be brought in when you want a card that punishes Control (once you get her to stick) by putting pressure on your opponent in the long game.
Rakdos Charm
is here for other graveyard strategies or maybe even niche token strategies, as well as functioning as artifact removal (so good!).
Murderous Cut
is something I'm trying out since you can fill the bin fairly quickly and then have some cheap creature removal against Aggro.
Overall I think the deck is pretty solid and fun and I will continue sculpting it with the community as new ideas are brought up and new cards get released. Thank you to everyone helping me with this idea!
