Lazav helps smooth out the draws early on with surveil and later can copy Doom Whisperer or Carnage Tyrant from the graveyard, which is fed by Glowspore Shaman, Stitchers Supplier, and explore creatures. Necrotic wound is a cheap exile removal that synergizes with self-mill. Chemisters Insight is a draw spell that works from the graveyard. Blood operative pares down the opponents graveyard. Midnight Reaper headges against board wipes. Plaguecrafter is effective against creature-light decks, especially against dive down. Cast Down in the sideboard is the only clean answer to Tocatli Honor Guard in this deck, as, if there are less than three creatures in the graveyard, Necrotic Wound does not kill it. Brontodon survives Clarion, blocks 3 power white creatures such as adant Vanguard or Knight of Grace, and is a naturalize effect that also works with Lazav.
