DISCLAIMER YOU DO NOT NEED Tarmogoyf FOR A DECK LIKE THIS TO BE GOOD The reason the big green beater is left out of this list is because I feel the graveyard is overtaxed to play goyf. Also if they play grave hate (like there is a good amount of currently thanks to Dredge decks being good) we don't want all our wincons to be ruined.

Okay now that that is out of the way I might be able to explain a bit.

The deck is built around the insane engine of Tasigur, the Golden Fang, Snapcaster Mage and the New Liliana Liliana, the Last Hope( if you don't understand read the cards it will become apparent). Liliana fuels Tasigur and Snappy alike with her -2,aslo rebuying them similar to grixis and their k command.

Kalitascard:Kalitas,Traitor of Ghet is well positioned in modern backed up with removal. His presence demands removal or he takes over the game while also buffering your lifetotal,and nice zombies.

Tombstalker is just a flying gurmag don't respect the flying die to it.

This is just a control deck in essence that touches for solid removal and the powerful Scavenging Ooze.

Discard

Using discard helps to disrupt the enemy and keep them off Their plan.

Inquisition of Kozilek

This card hits a large amount of what is powerful in modern.

Thoughtseize

This card is an all format allstar it takes basically everything away from their enemy. Not too much to say about this card.

Collective Brutality

This is a soft discard spell since this is a modal spell however it can still take important Instants or Sorceries from the opponent this is a lot of what makes a lot of decks powerful as well as a form of protection for our few wincons.

Counters

Spell Snare

A lot of powerful spells sit at 2CMC this is a brilliant tool to help keep annoying cards off the field or from resolving. Many decks rely on their 2 drops Affinity's pay-offs are all 2 CMC Cranial Plating Archbond ravager ectr.. Tarmogoyf Dark Confidant Snapcaster Mage I don't really need to point out much more.

Mana Leak

This card does really well in this deck especially since we don't play Path to Exile. This also helps protect our wincons or keep our opponent off tempo while we set up for late game.

Cryptic Command

Such a flexible spell and able to do a variety of game winning things good from behind good ahead just a great card when you have access to it.

Removal

Abrupt Decay

Hits a lot of things that we don't like. we can play it so yeah no need to beat a dead horse talking about this eternal format staple.

Collective Brutality

Helps us keep low creatures down not wasting the rest of our large removal. Also glues our deck together giving us some much needed flexibility.

Murderous Cut

IT KILLS ANYTHING FOR 1 MANA

Go for the Throat

A bit of a pet card hangover from the twin meta but the card has performed really well overall so i kept it to diversify our removal a bit.

Maelstrom Pulse

It makes all things except lands go kaboom. No really if there is an issue pulse it away off the board.

Shriekmaw

it is a terror essentially, however I can rebuy it with Liliana, the Last Hope making it a bit more useful for those key situations.

Enablers

Serum Visions

This card is sometimes of hot debate when you play control style of decks I personally enjoy it for smoothing out our draws and setting up things for Tasigur, the Golden Fang or just scrying into what we need for any situation. Also gives us the edge in the X mirror such as Jund since we can set up our draws to edge them out.

Thought Scour

Draws a card let's us fill the yard for Delve or get deeper for more Snapcaster Mage or Liliana, the Last Hope targets.

Creatures

Tasigur, the Golden Fang

He is the King of bananas and Lord of the Sultai. However he is also a great finisher that has addition card advantage that we can activate easier being both & He also fits into the idea of utilizing the graveyard for full value. While also being a huge body to help finish the game when we seize control of it.

Snapcaster Mage

Arguably the best creature ever printed while he isn't used for just his body we enjoy recasting our powerful spells. I really enjoy flashing back an Abrupt Decay or Maelstrom Pulse and watch my opponent cringe as they're being decimated by the sheer power of the value.

Tombstalker

The original Delve Creature but more importantly a giant flyer that can quickly close out a game.

Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet

If we untap with this guy he normally means lights out for our opponent left unanswered he starts gaining too much value. Which leads to controlling the game single handedly. Lifelink is also great for the aggro Match-Ups While his exile clause does some great work for pesky creatures running all around Modern to name a few Kitchen Finks Prized Amalgam

Shriekmaw

He is removal as well as sometimes an evasive threat when we can afford his full 5 cost.mostly he is a Terror our Liliana, of the Last Hope can rebuy.

Scavenging Ooze

He has been an allstar to disrupt opponent graveyard shenanigans. He gains Life. He gets big We have May as well play this amazing blob of goop.

Planeswalkers & Notable Lands

Liliana, the Last Hope

She is amazing first and foremost, She also plays well with our spells.Starting with 3 her +1 Gets her out of bolt range Immediatly which is nice. It also serves as amazing protection making 3/3's into 1/2's and such Also she kills a lot of X/1's of the format. Her -2 Allows us to buy back Snapcaster Mage or one of our other powerful creatures. -7 Basically wins the game on the spot.

Also notable her +1 Helps battle Lingering Souls a stinging issue most X decks have.

Creeping Tar Pit

this land is able to close the game once the Attrition battle dwindles down. Also can sneak in some damage through creatures if in race situations.

Lumbering Falls

Becomes a 3/3 hexproof creature that we can end the game and never worry about spot removal makes for some interesting cat and mouse games with enemy land destruction.

Twilight Mire

Helps fix colors for casting our cards or for getting that for Activated abilities or cast our green cards while not having another green source in play. Helps with consistency.

Ghost Quarter

A necessary evil since one of our weaknesses with this deck can be creature lands.
