SkipX - Glad you liked it! I would say splash some Black and add some better removal than Reality Shift. Grim Contest, Ruinous Path, Duress, or Infinite Obliteration could be useful to remove key cards from opponents' battlefield, deck, or hand. Silumgar, the Drifting Death and Sidisi, Undead Vizier are also some good cards you could add, though they are kinda high on mana cost (I usually need four lands to be set for the game). If you do splash some Black, consider Embodiment of Spring to help you get that black mana source. Make sure your landbase can support three colors consistently (more dual color lands essentially) without slowing you down too much.
Some cards to relieve the need for Assault Formation might be good too, like Titanic Growth, Kin-Tree Invocation, or Become Immense (These are pretty cheap cards as well; I will be experimenting with them).
You will see what you need as you play it and can look through Gatherer to see what can help. If you find you are going to be putting a lot more money into upgrades, maybe look for a new, more competitive deck.

Have you considered Sigiled Starfish in place of Glint? It blocks, digs, and attacks in that order.

JohannKlink - That card came to my mind as I was building this deck. Thought it was a 2-drop though :(
Jhnbytwoo - I had Sigiled Starfish initially but replaced it with Taigam's Scheming so I could dig for Assault Formation faster. Monastery Siege got the ax as well for the same reason.

Sultai Charm to replace taigems scheme if you would splash black. You could also run Virulent Plague in the SB for HBW and scions.

Also, Wall of Frost is still in standard. But for sure Monastery Flock in the SB at least.

Revelry - Thanks for the suggestions. Think I'll keep this at two colors for now but good suggestions for people looking to go Sultai.
cruzcontrol - Magic 2015 is no longer in Standard, though Gatherer is currently including it if you just filter by the Standard format. Monastery Flock was in there before, but I wanted to avoid Defender creatures to save mana for spells instead of attacking. Updraft Elemental could be a good substitute that could replace the Dragon's Eye Savants.

Cut a few cards I already own and my cart came to ~$21. Regardless, I've been playing budget standard for years and it's been a long time since I've seen anything that's cost this little and looked this good. I've been wanting to play Assault Formation for a while now and am glad to see this brew. Good job +1.

Another idea for sideboard cards -- Encase in Ice and Display of Dominance.

Alcarin - Thanks for the suggestions! Encase in Ice has the added benefit of extra protection against Dromoka's Command.
Kroto - Had not thought of pairing that with Exploit. Very clever! Don't think there's anything I'd cut for it, but recurring bounces would be interesting plus added protection against Dromoka's Command.

Very interesting deck. Here's mine.

I definitely worry about alt-win conditions, especially against aggressive decks like the many-colour sacrifice deck the red-blue 'thopters. Black gives me sideboard options like virulent plague and languish against tokens, as well as Villainous wealth for long games, and Sidisi for tutoring.
Consider Gurmag Drowner to help with having power on board without Assault Formation, as well as using the Exploit to help dig through the deck
If you want to take an upgrade, I'm hoping to work my way up to a few oblivion sowers to synergise with the Benthic Infiltrators.

I've seen multiple decks like this before. I love the idea, but what happens whenever you don't draw into an assault formation? What happens after game #1 and your opponent runs Enchantment h8? I guess that's what the counter spells can be for. I thinks you should have an alternate win con. , but idk how. Love the budget deck though, +1 :p

cklise - That's a good point. Didn't even make the connection.
Timemarine - Yeah, I've been feeling the same way lately. I can't find another hard and fast wincon, but I've modified the deck a bit to lower its reliance on Assault Formation. You can look at the last Update note for the changes if you're interested.

Monastery Flock would be a huge help in this deck

Teraxzaryrik - It's been mentioned but I'd rather play Updraft Elemental if I were to put something similar in.

I'm playing this deck but went full 4 glint in main deck, and through in 3 torrent elemental

Wheat_N_Barley - Thanks for the feedback! I was considering going with a full playset of Glint (hence the one in the sideboard). I usually swap it in if I see my opponent running tons of removal/burn. I like Torrent Elemental but I wanted to stick with cards with 4 CMC and under. It also adds a whole $3 to this deck (for three copies); that's a 30% price increase! :P
