Sideboard

Since burn has been so under appreciated in the past 3 rotations in standard, it's about time they print a good card for burn. Satyr Firedancer isnt the only once dancing at his printing.

Burn has always needed three components to be a successful win con:

  1. Meta-game

  2. Speed

  3. Value

Meta-game

Meta is so important in any standard burn since what you are up against, and the speed of those decks, will decide what spells you are using. In a Standard meta right now, decks are slow. We just received our new dual lands that automatically come in tapped. we have not had such a slow land set up in a LONG time of standard. with this slow of mana, the rival deck to burn, aggro, is to slow to play or is completly reliant on a specific card (Master of Waves) for there speed, it gives burn the edge with low cost cards, that have little to no risk on cast unlike aggro.

Speed

Like i mentioned before, speed is the key ingredient that is depended on the meta, but also the cards your playing too. Magma Jet and Lightning Strike are typical cards you will find in any burn decks for standard now because they are simply fast for what they do. We wont get Lightning Bolt printed in standard, so we need to work with what we get, so when we get cluttered with so many different burn spells that have alternate effects as well, we have a great pool to pick from.

Value

As i mentioned before, most of these cards have multiple effects... and this brings you to my favorite part of this deck / format / magic the gathering.....

#VALUE TOWN

Value Town TM, the greatest thing in Magic: the Gathering, is the best thing to ever happen in any game, is as simple as one card to answer two threats. Cards that always bring a tear to my eye are cards like Electrolyze, targeting two /1 creatures and then getting to draw :') Cards like these exist now in standard, like Searing Blood + Satyr Firedancer or Satyr Firedancer + Magma Jet to fix your draws. There are so many cards that burn but have extra value like Skullcrack or even Warleader's Helix . Even a Rootborn Defenses + Young Pyromancer makes for an awesome combat trick. Oh and dont forget when you burn you are going to be brining a Chandra's Phoenix back in your hand if it's in your grave. Never underestimate the value!

The Side

each card is pretty simple for there uses and are designed for the meta:

Chained to the Rocks - make that prick playing mono blue feel like the garbage he is for netting a deck, by wrecking there day with a one drop.

Pithing Needle - most walkers are not an issue, but AEtherling and even Underworld Connections/Whip of Erebos can make mono black get the edge on you.

Rootborn Defenses - awesome card that helps against board wipes. Like i mentioned before, works well in combat tricks with Young Pyromancer

Wear / Tear - just like Chained to the Rocks it's a specific card for two cards, Whip of Erebos and Detention Sphere

Revoke Existence - thanks god for reprinting the god killer. TBH this card is a guess. i'm almost possitive Xenagos, God of Revels will see the play he deserves.

Guys by all means let me know what you think, and be sure to 1+ if you like the idea / deck.

Thanks guys!
