I do every now and again run into the problem of no mana, but before I or my opponent shuffles my deck I'll go two non-lands 2 land card and alternate my deck as such. You could say it's setting my deck, but I allow the other person to shuffle my deck before we start so it's not as if I have any certain order I'm trying to retain. That seems to work well enough for me to get a decent amount of mana through out the deck and I alternate the colors so that they are dispersed as well.
The start of the match can be shaky and I do get beat every once in a while by a rush offencive deck, but it's all casual that I play so far, so there's not too much at stack there. I agree with you though that I would put smaller creatures into it if I went to any kind of competition. I haven't tried it with useing smaller creatures and it may help some, but I'm partial on any of the cards I want to take out and I don't want a huge deck.
The artifact lands are definitely something I will look into though I had never thought to try using them. Going off of being impartial isthe fact that I like a beefy defensive or offensive line up with my monsters for portection, bt you makes good point about other cards for less can be just as effective. I'll have to look into this some more. Thanks for your help though!

I actually did much the same thing with the mana in my old artifact deck. I noticed that it ran too few lands because I was intent on packing a lot of power creatures into it, and it ended up being 20-22 lands on 65 cards, and a lot of them were 5 or 6-drops. Blinkmoth Urn kind of helped, but the strategy seemed too dependent on it. It was the only deck I ever had to mana-shuffle, and I have fixed the problem by drastically lowering the curve.
Prototype Portal is definitely an effective card. If you imprint an artifact land, you're essentially generating free and permanent mana tokens, and you can get your Master of Etherium pretty big.

That's a great idea on how to use Prototype Portal 's imprint ability. I was using cards such as Darksteel Ingot , but from what I understood of how the card played the mana it gave me didn't stay after the end of my turn unless we were playing the rule as my friend put it "stockpile". I ended up taking those cards out of my deck, because they weren't as helpful as they had been. I then reverted to "mana-shuffling" that I saw someone do and had good luck with it, but I would like to be able to pick up my deck shuffle and play with out having to "organize" it with a mana-shuffle.
I'm a little impartial towards losing the sunburst creature cards that came with the deck. The reason being because of my nostalgic liking to them, but if the modular cards I saw in your deck could become as strong as they are for a cheaper cost I would definitely trade the sunburst out for the modular.

Sorry about the double post. Know any way to delete it? I'm not finding a "edit"/"delete" button

Shouldn't this be a EDH deck? I mean, you basically have 1 copy of each spell and a ton of lands...It's just a suggestion, but I think this deck could be way better on the Commander Format (EDH) than on normal constructed formats.
+1

@CAO I'm not familiar with the different gameplay "types", "styles", or whatever you would call them. What does EDH stand for? Also I'm thinking once I get enough I will revise this whole deck into a modular I guess "themed" deck. I'm still working on what will go good with it though.

EDH is also called Commander. It's a format with 99 cards decks where you can have only one copy of each ;D

Ok thanks for informing me I looked into it and it looks fun, but as none of my friends play "EDH" or "Commander" I don't think it would work that well against them. I cut it down a little now and revised it better as I see for standard, but you right, I wouldn't be far from a Commander deck. Not sure how well it would perform though lol.

Gotta join you in the love for sunburst, though the deck needs a lot more focus. Look at Fist of Suns , and then look at Suncrusher . Start with that. It looks like you got away from your surbursting roots.
On a related note, the sunburst precon from Fifth Dawn is what got me into magic. Whoo!
December 15, 2011 2:21 a.m.
That's neat to know someone else got their start into magic from a "sunburst" themed deck. I agree that I got away from the true "sunburst" theme of the deck and lost my focus, but since the deck was for fun when I first made it didn't matter all that much. Now that you've brought it up though I think I'll cut out what I can that doesn't help the "sunburst" effect. It may make the deck play better allowing me to cut down on the mana acceleration. :)

If you cut most of the colored spells, you can get away with only playing Evolving Wilds and Darksteel Ingot for mana fixing.

Sure it is...that's why for the whole 8 years I was in scouts this deck was the one everyone feared. Lol. I agree though that as I learn more this deck isn't the fastest and takes time to build up, but I'm mainly trying to win mid to late game with this deck. If I wanted to make a quick aggro deck I'd probably look into making a mono red...which wouldn't be a bad idea with some of the extra red cards i have laying around...will see though haha.

I love it. his is totally almost exactly what I started Magic with, and is probably my second favorite deck style (first being an Izzet instant deck). I say you should add more Infused Arrows and Clearwater Goblet s. Also, you may consider some of the newer "Etched" cards. Have fun with this deck. +1 for sure.

This is a fun deck to play and I love it! It's not the fastest, but in casual play it gets by. The mana curve is high, so 2x Infused Arrows
might help to give me more time. If I did add them I'm thinking I'd replace Arcbound Wanderer
and Lunar Avenger
. I'm also thinking of replacing 2x Sawtooth Thresher
s, but I was thinking for 2x Etched Monstrosity
s. I just found them and they look pretty good! Clearwater Goblet
is such an awesome card for this deck! I usually can get 4-5 charge counters on it and if I get the second one out I'm pretty much set for the game!
I've mainly been searching for cards with sunburst, but I see "Etched" cards such as Etched Monstrosity may have the sunburst as well. I'll take a look and see what I can find! Thanks for the +1 as well!

Mirrodin's Core , Vivid Crag and friends, and even lands like Terramorphic Expanse or Evolving Wilds could be nice in this deck if you can live long enough (which the goblet helps with). Also, check out cards from the Conflux set, it'll help you find more sunburst (I mean 5-color/5-color supporting) cards. And Dawn's Reflection can do work in this deck. Seeing this sorta makes me want to pull out my old Sunburst cards and have some fun.
May 8, 2013 6:26 p.m.
Thanks for the advice! I've seen mono green sunburst that helps with getting mana, but I liked the idea of having multiple colors. I'll check out those "Vivid Crag and friends". They look like they'll help a lot!
Mono green with cards such as Dawn's Reflection might not be a bad idea either. I see what I can dig up and go from there.
Sunburst is definitely fun to play! I've kept this deck around just for that reason.

Only artifacts? Nice!
I also tried to build an artifact deck, it's called 100% Artifact (literally) you may check it if you want.
For advice, since you using a lot of counters, maybe you should try to add Contagion Clasp to make even more counters and Unwinding Clock to untap your artifacts in the opponent's turn.
May 26, 2013 8:28 p.m.
Thanks for the advice! I've mainly been using Sunburst cards, but in favor of performing faster I'll take a look at Contagion Clasp and Unwinding Clock .
I see you have an all artifact Modular deck or at least for the most part it is. I built my own modular deck called +1 to you, +1 to you, oh! and +1 to you too! if you want to take a look.

Seems like a fun, if odd, setup. You have a lot of high-cost cards. How do you manage in the early-game?
You might want to consider a lot of the other Modular options. I have a similar deck (Artif*ck that focuses completely on low-cost counter-based creatures, which is sort of the opposite of what you have done here. Arcbound Crusher is a very powerful card in all-artifact decks.
You might also want to look for some of the artifact lands. Ancient Den , Seat of the Synod , Vault of Whispers , Great Furnace , Tree of Tales , and Darksteel Citadel are all arifacts, which can help out Master of Etherium and Leonin Elder .
If you need options for creature removal, you should consider Dispatch . There's not really a downside, considering how many artifacts you have.
