Tocatli Honor Guard hoses a ton of creatures, specifically those in the GPG and energy decks.
Gideon of the Trials can prevent damage from creatures and also win the game. It's an auto include in any white control deck.
Slaughter the Strong stunts the opponent's board development as early as turn 3 and is still good at any point in the game.
Settle the Wreckage punishes the opponent for attacking with multiple creatures, specifically tokens and The Scarab God.
Fumigate wipes the board and helps stop us from dying.
Approach of the Second Sun is the best win con we can play in white. That's the only reason.
Sunset Pyramid is my favorite card in the deck since most people ignore it and don't realize the card advantage that it provides. I like it better than Treasure Map
because it is continuous card advantage and selection, where Treasure Map
is up to 3 scries and 3 draws.
Treasure Map
is in the deck to ramp out Approach of the Second Sun as early as possible as well as provide minimal card selection.
Baffling End helps deal with early creatures and often doesn't get removed to give the opponent the dino token.
Thopter Arrest hits all creatures and artifacts, making it more effective than Baffling End and cheaper than Cast Out and Ixalan's Binding, but I think it still only deserves one spot in the deck.
Cast Out is just good. It cycles and gets rid of nearly anything at instant speed. The only thing not to like is the cmc.
Ixalan's Binding prevents the opponent from casting spells. I like it for the tilt factor in addition to it being an extra 4 Cast Out.
Desert of the True is for cycling either for Approach of the Second Sun or answers.
Evolving Wilds is in the deck for thinning and to shuffle Sanguine Sacrament back in.
Field of Ruin destroys nonbasic lands and shuffles the oppnent's deck, which can be very useful against other Approach of the Second Sun decks.
Plains provide white mana that I need to cast spells.
Scavenger Grounds can deal with graveyard-based decks without too much trouble.
Shefet Dunes is for the creature plan post-sideboard.
