yeah.... why Simic Keyrune not Azorius Keyrune ? it helps you with mana way more and also has evasion.

Ya, I like the 2/2 bird, I just don't know what I can take out. I already wish I could use 2 more Rifts and some more O rings or D Spheres.
Also, if my opponent runs any instant kill spells, they would still be in his or her hand since there aren't any legal targets of mine, unless I use those birds. So they'd be the only target for murder or the like. I suppose something like searing spear will hit my planeswalkers.....hmm, unless I use Witchbane Orb . I should. Then my opponent can't target me with a Searing Spear (or a hundred other spells) and redirect damage to my plainswalkers.
March 24, 2013 12:30 p.m.
The evasion it has is against creatures...which should not be alive or untapped. The evasion the Simic key has is against my opponent's spells. Which is the only thing it should have to worry about.

You could remove some of the Ajani, Caller of the Pride for one or two Azorius Keyrune . I mean I could be missing something here but it doesn't seem Ajani does much in this deck and the ramp and possible creature from the keyrune would be better. You could also put the Azorius keyrunes in the sideboard because most of your opponents will probably be siding out most of their removal which helps out with the that issue.
March 24, 2013 10:52 p.m.
I could side them I suppose. It's super unfortunate the keyrune with hexproof is the simic one. The green dual lands is to activate the keyrunes. They would just be basic plains or islands, so it doesn't mess up my balance using duels. Just have to get the balance between shocks and non-shock duels.
Ajani does good things. If my Gideon is up to some decent counters I can give him flying/double strike. Hit someone with that for 18 last week. And then just putting a 1/1 counter on a keyrune every turn is fairly good.

I still don't see how the keyrune wouldn't be 100x better as a Geist of Saint Traft , especially as you could trade the green duals for him for no cost.

He makes a very good point. I second the Giest idea
March 25, 2013 9:56 a.m.
Geist is definitely good. I can see running them. The only downside to Geist over the keyrune is that he can be dealt with by a lot of sorcery speed spells or abilities.
Liliana of the Veil
can force me to sac him. My own board wipes will hit him as well as my opponent's board wipes, and just a ton of other things.
I'll probably run this deck as is. I had to order 6 of the cards though so they might not arrive before this FNM. I'd have to pick up Geist if I use him, but he does seem an ok fit. I'm just hoping to board wipe and keep my attackers safe. I might run a 4th Supreme Verdict just because I want to be able to spam it. Divine Reckoning is another fine idea as I should be tapping down at least one creature a turn - so them keeping their best one is fine. That would allow me to keep Geist too.

Good luck then! Hopefully I'll be able to help more after that if it's even needed XD
March 25, 2013 6:41 p.m.
Well...oddly enough, after buying/opening 100 packs of gatecrash I somehow can only find 3 Simic Keyrune s. lol... So, I'm going to take it as a sign and swap to Azorius Keyrune s for tonight. I'm worried about them getting instant killed, but we'll see how it goes.

Hmm, looking at my old deck that this one was based upon Human Control - JB. I kinda think I wanna revise that instead lol. It worked so well.
April 1, 2013 3:41 a.m.
gotta say seems interesting but lacks anything against control. i realy fear you will be dead agaisnt anything running counterspells. or worse counterspells+Snapcaster Mage
also Pithing Needle seems realy effective against you. i now you got Detention Sphere but still. needle stops all you walkers and AEtherling
and while i like it seeing someone play Divine Reckoning i dont think the card is all that great.
perhaps Rapid Hybridization against Obzedat, Ghost Council only instant removal in said colors i could think of. with all the fieldwipes in this deck the 3/3 token shouldnt be a problem.
July 13, 2013 6:58 p.m.
I've played control match ups and they're just super long games (at least game one). They don't have a way to beat me. They usually revolve around one creature beating with Runechanter's Pike and that's easy to deal with. The hardest matchup has been control where all my cards get exiled and our plainswalkers cancel each other out....but I still wipe everything and now the new plainswalker rules are in effect so no more destroying my Jace with your Jace.
Obzedat, Ghost Council
is fairly shut down with Blind Obedience
. If the blink him out then he doesn't attack, if they keep him in, I blow him up.
Pithing Needle has been an issue a couple times too....but I have 5 things they want to shut down with it so I usually do fine anyways and Cyclonic Rift it at the right moment if need be.
Divine Reckoning is my choice side out card, but it still has done some good. If I have Tamiyo out, she deals with the 1 leftover creature from that particular nuke.
I'll probably revisit my game plan with M14 cards.

I still cant figure out how Feeling of Dread vs Hands of Binding was better but if you cant guarantee damage to your opponent then i suppose you totally have it under control. Yeah looks super fun to play could you possibly check out my Bird is the Word and give me some tips. +1 from me
August 6, 2013 11:47 a.m.
Thanks! And Feeling of Dread is a card that keeps me alive as much as any other card in this deck. As an instant that costs 2 and has flashback for 2...it's what gets me to turn 4-5-6 so I can sweep the board w/o worrying about being aggro'd down. Especially with all the haste creatures. I can see Hands of Binding working in a tempo control creature deck, but it's too slow for my needs.
August 6, 2013 11:55 a.m.
This deck looks really fun! If I might make a suggestion, Haunted Plate Mail would be a great addition to this deck because you could wipe the board, then activate it as your only creature and swing 4. Still, +1 from me!
August 9, 2013 10:45 a.m.
I actually like that. I'd toyed around with indestructible creatures like Manor Gargoyle
and hexproof creatures, but Terminus
still catches all.
I can run 4 of them too if I wanted, since they can all be activated at once. The only downside to them is 1st game, my opponent will likely be running creature removal. The reason I stopped using keyrunes was that my opponent's hand would get clogged with removal that he couldn't use. So as soon as a keyrune became activated...Murder
or something else.
I'm afraid the Haunted Plate Mail
would follow the same. I might have them as an intended sideboard card though. Let my opponent side out creature removal and I'll side them in. They would be awesome if indestructible or hexproof in addition to the inanimate.
August 9, 2013 12:11 p.m.
Haunted plate mail might not be a terrible idea for something like this
August 14, 2013 12:45 a.m.
Oh ya, I just updated and deleted comments about that card lol.
August 14, 2013 12:58 p.m.
Hmm, I thought those comments got archived or something, but can't find them. Basically I agreed Haunted Plate Mail
could fit quite well, but as an intended 2nd round sideboard. If I mainboard them my opponent will have instant creature removal that will catch them. So, game 2 they side out creature removal and I side in dodgy creatures.

I think this will be a deck I can keep around after cycle which makes me happy. It's been in my top 3 favorite decks of the last year (since the last cycle).
I'll be losing some important pieces, but I'm sure I can find some form of replacement.
Good bye to: Tamiyo, the Moon Sage , Feeling of Dread , Geist of Saint Traft (don't care about this one), Divine Reckoning (also, don't care), and Terminus
Terminus and Feeling of Dread will be the hard ones to replace....luckily undying goes with the cycle too, so I won't have to worry about needing terminus to deal with pesky undying creatures or Blood Artist triggers.
We already know an Elspeth is at least coming, so she'll probably replace Tami. I might then try using those Haunted plate mails with Hands of Binding , but I dunno yet... Maybe the Simic Keyrune if I can add in green mana to activate it for a nice hexproof creature that survives board wipes. Also, unsure how the new hero cards get played, but there's one called The Philosopher that I could use (2 + tap: tap target creature).
As far as replacing board wipes....Planar Cleansing is obviously a no go as it would wipe my friends. I may just have to add in red - grab Ral Zarek and Mizzium Mortars ...maybe Chandra...who knows, but this deck will be viable for a while imo!
My last favorite deck before we lost Consecrated Sphinx and Psychosis Crawler could not be carried over even remotely lol...the mechanic behind the deck was gone.

Some Azorius Keyrune may prove helpful for acceleration and getting through for damage
