Ever wanted to try something unique that can win games, but isn't very expensive?

Commander is a format that budgets, if left unchecked, can explode and cost much more than you expect. Additionally, it's also disheartening when you've spent a decent chunk of money, only to have a deck not work out.

So I'm trying to construct deck lists that are relatively inexpensive (more or less, <$100) that can play well against other decks.

This is a relatively understandable General Tazri Allies deck that uses a few of the more inexpensive Allies and other spells available.

Besides allies, it also plays a few answers to combat common problems, such as boardwipes (Twilight's Call)

Pros:

  • Inexpensive: At the time of writing this, this deck is valued at just under $30, according to TCGPlayer, or less than a pre-constructed deck (assuming you're able to find everything at low-price on TCGPlayer). If you don't like it or if you're not satisfied with what it can do, you only dropped what some would spend on one card!

  • Early victories: If you can get out a nice pile of allies and your colours right, you can win with this deck on turn 5. Otherwise, this deck can still go against good decks, out-aggro'ing them before they get started.

  • Highly Editable: While most of the good allies are here (it's missing Kabira Evangel , Jwari Shapeshifter , and Drana, Liberator of Malakir), the non-ally spells could use some work. Most of them are placed in here to give the deck some utility, but you can take the deck any way you want: Do you want to include the infinite Conspiracy (naming Allies) + Turntimber Ranger combo? Some other tutors? That's up to you!

  • Toolbox: Tazri is, and always will be, the best Ally general. Her search ability is exactly what you're looking for (heh) in a tribal general. Need cards? Look for Sea Gate Loremaster ! Need mana? Harabaz Druid's your girl! How about pumping abilities? Tajuru Warcaller 's great!

  • Five-Colour Structure: if you don't like allies or get bored of the deck, the land base and a few of the spells can work in another five-coloured deck of your choice. You can obviously find better lands and mana rocks (Chromatic Lantern's a bunch better rock than Manalith is), but it's a start!

Cons:

  • Detrimental Boardwipes: Like many creature-based decks, Boardwipes are pretty effective against this. It might be wise to invest in something that gives your stuff indestructible (like Eldrazi Monument), or another mass reanimator (particularly Patriarch's Bidding). This might require you spending a few bucks.

  • Low on draw spells: It might be a bit difficult to refill your hand if you need it. While I have included Mind Unbound, Bident of Thassa, and Azure Mage , you might want some better things to draw you some cards.

  • Low on removal: as per usual, tribal decks are a bit low on removal (as you're trying to fit in as many of the good creatures of that tribe in your deck, losing room on kill spells). You could take out some allies for that.

Thank you for reading! I hope this helps you!
