This is Jund, but it plays half of the time like Sultai control and half of the time like Gruul aggro. This is meant to be incredibly budget, and unique from other budget Jund decks.
No Goyfs? Gurmag Angler works. So does Putrid Leech, and even Grove Rumbler. No LotV? Chandra, Flamecaller not only allows you to discard, but it also lets you draw, which Jund doesn't normally do. Speaking of which, without Bobs, Jund is different. The cheapest ideal replacement was Tormenting Voice, and Scout the Borders actually helps too (not just with delve!). Painful Truths is great card draw for 3 color decks, and the life lost is less than Bob. The best part is, you draw all 3 cards at once, not over 3 upkeeps.
Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek have become pricey as well, so Duress and Despise get to do the work. While building this deck, with Maelstrom Pulse and Abrupt Decay in mind, I chose to use lots of removal in different forms (i.e. Putrefy, Terminate, Dead Drop, Doom Blade, Murderous Cut). Rakdos Cackler and Monastery Swiftspear take the place of Goblin Guides, even though that's probably the weakest point of the deck (1 drops are subpar). And what's a deck that uses cards like Monastery Swiftspear without ways to deal 6+ damage per tun with it? This is where Become Immense and Colossal Might come in!
The deck actually does surprisingly well with its mana, but Rampant Growth helps out (and triggers Grove Rumbler's landfall!) Nile's Presence was a replacement for a second Growth, but I decided I liked the card draw. Zhur-Taa Druid is just fun to play with. Next come Vampire Outcasts and Vampire Nighthawk, our life gain sources (yes, Jund can gain life) that help us recover from Painful Truths and make up for our weak earlygame. Mogis is a nice mix between aggro and control, as it is a 7/5 for 4. I find the ability more useful than the P/T though.
Finally, we have a very small amount of direct damage besides the Druid and Mogis. Since I'm actually running most of my Bolts in another deck, only one Lightning Bolt is featured here. Blightning is a must-have for any Jund deck, budget or not. I only have one, but one day, when I can afford to make this deck better than just a budget deck, I'll invest in playlets of it and Bloodbraid Elf to pull of that shenanigan. Finally, Reclaim. It's basically just for retrieving Chandra from the graveyard if Scout the Borders dumps it.
The lands are self-explanatory. Cheap duels (that give you life!) and basics, with the exception of the one Savage Lands, the one Ghost Quarter, and Evolving Wilds/Terramorphic Expanse.
Thanks for reading, and I hope this deck proves to be helpful! :)
