The judge here ruled it in my favor. I agree with Rhadamanthus, but the judge ruled that the mage's ability does not happen. Any how CrunchBogus, my Esper build has the option to run Gideon, Champion of Justice . Take a look and +1 if you like please :P deck:whats-ultra-bs

question here what would you for the GWU(dont know name) control build. tht uses Thragtusk Restoration Angel etc.
this version uses Cavern of Souls so it guarantees ill see Sigarda, Host of Herons in game2/3. cording to your side it should be the 2 Slaughter Games and probebly the 2 Glaring Spotlight .
now what would you side out of mainboard for these cards?

it was something like this deck:bant-23-02-13-1 and with that i mean i cant recall/find the correct version. im pretty sure you win game 1 against this version.
PS: it was the only version i could find using Sigarda, Host of Herons on this site...

Sagi007, Loxodon Smiter and Sigarda, Host of Herons are great vs Liliana of the Veil . However, if I side Slaughter Games , I have no idea how your deck can win. If I draw one Slaughter Games , I can remove one set of your creatures. More often than not I am able to Snapcaster Mage Slaughter Games right back. With two sets of your creatures being gone, their is very little left for you to kill me with. Your original 10 creatures are less creatures than I have removal in my deck..... They won't do much to kill me. With that being said, I could side out some removal for my Slaughter Games . Bonfire of the Damned can deal with Sigarda, Host of Herons btw. My deck:morglen-mid-range-6-open-lands-on-turn-3 posses problems for this deck however. Turn 3 Obzedat, Ghost Council is op lol.

Man, this deck is mean in standard! I played against a friend who had a very similar deck versus my standard white human weenies and yeah, I raged a bit. But i didnt get to try it in modern(which I usually play), how well does it do? Im thinking about modelling a new deck after something like this if it works well in modern!
February 25, 2013 4:54 a.m.
Vigilante013 I don't play modern, but I can say this deck hurts in standard. I have found Esper Super Friends, and my Morglen Mid-Range to give this deck issues. I basically trade Plains Walkers with the Esper deck until I win with Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker , or they win with Sorin, Lord of Innistrad or Obzedat, Ghost Council .

Now THIS is the Grixis control I can get behind! Aggressive control strategy and removals with planeswalker support is what grixis is all about!
Really digging Duress in the main board. Brings me back to the old MBC days. Have you tried Appetite for Brains in the main or side? It hits a ton of key threats most decks run in the meta like Thragtusk , Olivia Voldaren , Restoration Angel and some others. I understand that your burns and removals should suffice but taking them out before they have a chance to get their controller any value (plus seeing their hand) is always a plus.
You get +1.

I like the deck a lot, but I am really hoping you haven't been riding on the Curse-Snapcaster interaction you have listed, and the judges bad call.

no Pillar of Flame ? how do u not get rushed by all the fast decks in standard?
April 17, 2013 1:52 p.m.
mutilate, mortars, slips, liliana, dreadbore, snaps, jace +1, curse of death's hold, ext. Their is more removal than you realize.
April 17, 2013 5:45 p.m.
I like your list. I personally use Liliana of the Dark Realms because I don't own any Liliana of the Veil and I especially like the synergy between her ultimate ability and Bonfire of the Damned ... A card idea I got from your list, TBH! IF you get a free moment, mind dropping by my grixis list and taking a peak? Legion of Doom (Grixis-Control)
+1 Upvote BTW.

I'm also working on Grixis deck (putting 100% attention and budget to it), and I did also realize that Stensia Bloodhall + Staff of Nin often brang me some games!!
Don't you want to throw a Desolate Lighthouse in there?
What are cards from Dragon Maze you're looking forward to put in there!?

@PhilRock. If you do [card name], with two brackets on each side instead of one, it links the words to the card. At the moment this deck is VERY consistent. With Stensia Bloodhall
and Cavern of Souls
, I am afraid to add any more colorless land to the mix.
Dragons Maze... I can't wait. Cards I am looking to play test:
Ral Zarek along with Tamiyo, the Moon Sage
Master of Cruelties along with Stensia Bloodhall

My Grixis deck is pretty consistent too now, but still having some problems against those super-aggro mono-red or Naya-Blitz...how are you doing against them? I guess they are your worst match-up too right? Thing is, the only way I beat them is if I'm fast enough to Blasphemous Act their whole troop (often all spewed up in 3 turns) leave them almost empty handed, after that my success rate is much higher, easily removing creatures coming in and controling until win.
Here's my Grixis: Beans & Bolasses

@ PhilRock. Originally, my answer was Rolling Temblor . However, I have removed it and added Mutilate instead. I am looking to playtest my deck with more black focus. Liliana of the Dark Realms , Mutilate , Griselbrand , and Crypt Ghast . Take a look at what I am play testing now. I havn't decided on what version yet. It's true that the Curse will kill Snapcaster before his ability goes onto the stack, but it doesn't stop his ability from triggering. He entered the battlefield (that's why he died), so he triggers. The trigger will be put onto the stack right after he's put into the graveyard (this is because state based actions are checked right before a player would get priority, and triggers are put onto the stack the next time a player gets priority). Unless the trigger is countered somehow, it will still eventually resolve.
