Yeah it looks pretty strong albeit expensive. Also it would of course nix the whole Proteus Staff combo which i like a lot.

Maybe it would work good with Flash and similar cards as used in Hulk decks.

Also if we are playing Arena Rector i would wanna play Academy Rector as well.

I think it might be worse than just Academy Rector with Overwhelming Splendor or Omniscience.

But is for sure worth testing to maybe make the deck also faster with stuff like Mox Diamond/Opal to get a turn 1/2 Flash combo with the Rectors. Maybe also more interaction.

Might be too cute but who knows :P

HighOnBuffs: I agree, I think Arena Rector would end up being too cute and is a nonbo with my P.Staff combo.

Have you tried Honor-Worn Shaku. It essentially makes your Planeswalkers work double time as mana dorks.

ZaphodBeblebrox: That card looks super spicy! Will definitely check it out...thanks for the suggestion.

Would also suggest Search for Azcanta  Flip as it filters your draws early and flips to help you dig for key cards.

Good call! That's another great suggestion.

Hi, i am building my own superfriends deck right now i really like the version you have decided to go with, with minimum creatures and use tokens as blockers :) I was wondering if you might give your thougths on some planeswalkers/cards you haven't included and some more feedback on your inclusions?

What do you think of:

  • Garruk, Apex Predator: His emblem is weak in this deck, but he puts out very good blockers and has removal for both planeswalkers and creatures. What makes him excluded from the deck?

  • Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury: Her 2 first abilities seems very good with ramp and removal, is it not powerful enough to impact the board?

  • Gideon, Ally of Zendikar: I see that he is not as powerful, but his tokens are very nice. I want to include him in my build as i have one, but what do you think of him and is he even the best gideon to include?

  • Sorin, Grim Nemesis: His +1 seems really good also since a lot of planeswalkers has a CMC of 4-5, and he has decent removal, i see that Sorin, Solemn Visitor emblem is very strong, but would you think running both would be an option?

  • Jace Beleren: Is his impact to little?

  • Kiora, the Crashing Wave: Her emblem seems to be much more impactful than Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath.

  • As Foretold: Somewhat early drop and seems good on curve with Atraxa, Praetors' Voice.

  • Sphere of Safety: Seems to be a good include with the decent amount of enchantments in the deck, doesn't it seem to be worth running as it will slow a lot of swarm strategies down?

With the printing of The Immortal Sun how have you been able to deal with it? Might it be to consider Krosan Grip to remove such a piece to make sure it wont be countered?

How have these performed?

Lastly, as planeswalkers are really great, it is hard to stop oneself from including to many, would you yourself like to run more than your 21 at the moment?

Completely Forgot, how about Ajani Unyielding, Card Advantage, removal and a ult not too powerful, but not weak either.

Just running many decent Walkers doesnt really win you the game most of the time. You need interaction and protection. You dont just play slow Walkers for value.

He included only the necessary Walkers to close the game after having infinite mana or a combo or those that produce Tokens and come down early.

For example Kioras ultimate isnt better than Ob because with an infinite activation combo he oneshots the table through hexproof.

Odysseus_97: I've tested all of the walkers you've suggested and they often felt clunky and doesn't impact the board as much as I like especially when their CMC is >5. For 6cmc, I'm looking for PW that can impact the board by either invalidating threats pull me ahead of the game...the new walker Will Kenrith is a perfect fit for that slot. JTMS has been working decent in my meta and is another alternate win condition if both my other win cons are somehow invalidated.

I'm currently testing baby Karn out and he seem fairly good at producing chump token. Baby Nissa has been great for me as it comes down early and starts generating chump blockers for my other walkers. If she is unanswered, she can draw me a ton of cards to refuel later on. As HighOnBuffs said, Ob Nixilis is an alternate win-con for my infinite walker activation combo in case a player has hexproof...his flying demon token is also nothing to scoff at.

I do have a friend that plays The Immortal Sun. I do have answers such as Nature's Claim/Anguished Unmaking/Merciless Eviction/Urza's Ruinous Blast. With the number of tutors and also permissions, I am usually able to get rid of it.

Again, superfriends is very meta dependent and I feel like there isn't a right or wrong inclusion of various PW. I do think that 21 walkers is enough for my build but I can see going up to 23 being decent too. Ultimately it's what you think is fun so go wild and test those walkers out!

Sphere of Safety/As Foretold are cards I've tested before and I think that tokens are more than enough to hold the fort. SoS is also 5cmc, and is usually too clunky and competes with my other 5cmc walkers. As foretold is too slow and often eats removal before I can capitalize on it.

How do you feel about Meekstone, will that be able to hold off enough damage for it to be worth an include?

Odysseus_97: Hi, meekstone is really dependent on the meta but I often find that having just tokens is more than enough to hold the fort.

What are your thoughts on the new Tezzeret planes walker coming with the 2019 core set? Seems pretty insane to me!

June 25, 2018 5:19 a.m.

Enral says... #18

Novayne: It's super good especially when I already have baby Karn and a ton of artifacts in my deck too. The fact that the emblem is game ending and combos with deepglow skate/doubling season sold me on it. I have just updated the list to include it.

Thoughts of Nexus of Fate?

On* sorry. Saw you added it to your list and just wanted to know your reasoning. Thanks!

Jaimcat: Extra turn spells have always felt great in a superfriends deck...especially with a proliferator in the command zone. This translates to a potential of up to 4 loyalty counters (on each walker) per extra turn spells. Instant speed extra spell adds that unpredictability factor to edge towards the surprise ultimate to potentially close up a game. Imagine that you needed one more loyalty counter on your turn to ultimate and your opponents were like "oh...we still have one more turn to deal with it before it pops" and you play Nexus of Fate end of your opponents turn.

June 26, 2018 12:37 p.m.

Have you thought about Pir, Imaginative Rascal? Works good with planeswalkers (especially with Teferi's oath or chain veil in play) and also with your artifacts with counters.

How come no Magistrate's Scepter? might be better in this deck than Nexus of Fate (since you'd have to tutor for it again) in some other proliferate decks they can add three counters a turn for a lock out.

Enral says... #23

Force_of_Willb Since I'm running the proteus staff/deepglow skate combo ...there can only be one creature in the deck so I won't be putting any other creatures in..as well as they synergize with the deck. Magistrate's Scepter is too slow and predictable. It also requires Atraxa to be on the table to be kinda effective...an instant speed extra turn spell is so much better.

So hows the testing for the new cards?

Any success with Score, Nexus and the new walkers?

July 14, 2018 7:57 p.m.

Enral says... #25

HighOnBuffs: I only had one game with this deck since my update. Settle the Score surprised me a lot. I'm able to surprise the table by ultimating Tamiyo, Field Researcher when she was at 5 loyalty and everyone thought they have several turns to deal with her. This eventually won me that game. I haven't had the chance to draw the other new cards yet to come to any conclusion. But settle is definitely a good card when you're able to stick a walker in play, if not its just an overcosted removal.
