I ALMOST knee jerk reacted to the new Sisay and switched my Atraxa list to a 5 color. Thoughts on her as a new 5 color Superfriends commander?

tfitch: The new Sisay has a tutor stipulation of cmc = power which means that I effectively needs multiple colored walkers/legendaries in play for her to be useful mid/late game. She might be good enough though so who knows. I'd probably stick to Atraxa for now.

Enral What is your reasoning behind the new Ugin going into the deck? It doesn't seem like it beats out some other walkers?
May 24, 2019 10:29 a.m.
tfitch it's just a new toy I'm trying out. I might just replace it with Liliana, the last hope or something down the line.

I personally play Ashiok, Dream Render and Kaya, Orzhov Usurper in my version of this, but that's mostly because there's people that like to play Muldrotha in my local group. However Ashiok is cheap and is very nice against fetchlands.

mainman879: Good suggestion! Added Ashiok and will be playtesting her later.

Hey, I really like your deck and I have given it a shot and had great success with it so far. I was wondering why you took out Sensei's Divining Top. Is there still an infinate draw engine?

sha54321 No particular reason actually..just have too little slots and too many toys to try out. The list is in constant change due to that. I've added it back in place of sylvan library because I already have rhystic study and other walkers for card draw.

EntropicVoid I just used this list, but tweaked the lands to add a Volcanic Island, Steam Vents, Badlands, and a Plateau. I only added the new Sarkhan, Bolas Dragon God, and God Pharoh Bolas. On the mana rock side, I added a couple rocks that splashed into red (Talisman of Indulgence, etc). I MIGHT put it on paper if I find a way that consistently pumps Sisay to a respectable power for the tutor, but in my meta, tutors in the command zone don't stay on the field long. I found that I held off on casting her for so long that she became redundant.

Enral Just a small nitpick about Ashiok, you aren't supposed pronouns for Ashiok, Ashiok is genderless and you arent even supposed to use they/it. https://wizardsmagic.tumblr.com/post/122805111811/ashioks-style-guide-entry

Hi Enral
If you were to make this deck a 5-colour superfriends deck, how would you feel about Sisay, Weatherlight Captain as the commander?
May 28, 2019 3:31 p.m.
I thinking Sisay, Weatherlight Captain can be built around into a full blown planeswalker combo deck with the new toy from modern horizons featuring Planebound Accomplice + Cloudstone Curio + two walkers of which one can generate at least two to get infinite walker activations. This can be an instant kill with Ugin, the Spirit Dragon or any walkers that can damage opponents.

Jace, Wielder of Mysteries wins off of infinite +1's as well, and is much easier to tutor for with Sisay than Ugin. Then again, it's a four-piece combo, two of which the commander doesn't even tutor for; it's nice in terms of actually using the new cards, but I generally think the "archetype" can win in easier ways.
Definitely agree that Sisay wants to be built around though; things like Oath of Kaya , Oath of Ajani , and even some of the more combat oriented walkers that can straight up raise her power become a lot better with her at the helm.
Imho Najeela, the Blade-Blossom and Ramos, Dragon Engine are still the best 5c-friends generals without buildaround.

Hello Enral
I'm newer to MTG and I have been working on building his deck. So far I have nearly all of the cards, but there are quite a few outliers, all due to price/availability. I was wondering if you could possibly provide/help with some alternatives for me?
Here are the main cards I need replacements for...
Instants: - Mana Drain - Teferi's Protection - Vampiric Tutor
Sorceries: - Imperial Seal
Artifacts: - Mana Crypt - Rings of Brighthearth
Lands: - Bayou - Misty Rainforest - Savannah - Scalding Tarn - Scrubland - Tropical Island - Tundra - Underground Sea - Verdan Catacombs
Outside of the above cards, I either have or have been able to acquire every other card. Any help is much appreciated!

fent Swan Song / Comeuppance for Mana Drain/Teferi's Protection. Scheming Symmetry / Diabolic Tutor for Vampiric Tutor/Imperial Seal. Prismatic Lens for Mana Crypt. I honestly can't think of anything that can replace Rings of Brighthearth ...probably something you'd have to save up to get eventually. For the lands, I would just replace them with the fastlands and basics. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much Enral! This does help greatly. Rings is not out of my price range. If it is the only one with no true replacement, I will pick it up. Thank you again! Can't wait to give the deck a try.

Any thoughts on Sword of Truth and Justice , Flux Channeler and Evolution Sage ?

cango35 Flux Channeler and Evolution Sage would ruin the proteus staff+deepglow skate combo. And since there are so few creatures in this deck Sword of Truth and Justice might not be that great, but its not terrible either.

I added the sword to my deck for a few games and it definitely fills the alt wincon spot for the deck. It turns Atraxa into a beater and gives it protection from a lot of removal.

Patryn Good point about threeferi, there is sure infinite combos in my meta and I still wanna test him out before cutting him as I can deploy him the turn I am comboing off. As you have stated, I run mana rocks due to its synergy with my infinite combos and tezzeret. My base colors are not green so running land ramps can become dead cards if I don't draw the right colors. BSZ is an experiment which can answer early aggro or token swarm easily. It also synergies with Atraxa's proliferate ability to kill off survivors. I do run terminus and merciless eviction which answers indestructibility.
