Hey, nice idea, still need a lot of thought. You should re consider having so many Anax and Cymede, that card is Legendary, and having 4 in the deck, means that you will probably draw that card more than once, and that may be good in some situations, but in many others its not favorable. The Lands, those land are way too many, for a 1.79 avg CMC deck!Consider some Ethereal armors, which also work with heroic abilities and stack with your chained to the rocks. One more thing, you are missing Assemble the Legion, which is by far the greatest synergy with Phalanx Leader and Akroan CrusaderI hope this helps!Nice work

You might want to look at Akroan Hoplite . It is perfect with Trample and your 1/1 swarms. I've got most of your cards in my maybe board in my R/W deck, so you might want to take a look there two for complimentary cards. My deck is similar but not as tight as this. I think you probably do need the 4 legendaries (at least 3) as that is your wincon. +1

TrashEater: I know having 4 Anax and Cymede is risky, but it's such an important card in the deck that if I draw 2, I can just suicide attack with one and play the other if necessary. I wanted a few extra lands so I could play a creature and a pump spell on the same turn, but I think you are right so I moved it down to 20. I don't think Ethereal Armor has enough synergy with the rest of the deck, and is really prone to removal. Lastly, Assemble the Legion seems a bit too slow, especially now with the lower land count.sladkosan: Akroan Hoplite is really good, but what should I take out? Also, i'd love to look at your deck, can you post a link to it?

Nice changes, I don't currently have a deck, but I am linking one of my favourite decks around here Some Assembly Required (Post rotation) , I hope it gives you some inspiration!By the way, have you ever thought about Purphoros? He is a cheap God, and stacks very well with your deck idea
September 18, 2013 12:47 a.m.
I would suggest 1-2 Dauntless Onslaught or 1-2 Chained to the Rocks . I do appreciate that those are tough calls, and probably the whole thing needs some play testing to work out. It is as you know a balance between creatures, buffs and self-preservation. I have no idea at this point what the optimal creature-buff-land ratio will be - perhaps there is some physicist on tappedout who has done the math! You can find my humble effort at Trojan family planning.

just a note regarding this quote:
"Chained to the Rocks : I put this with the enablers because it can be used on one of our own creatures if we're in a pinch. But mostly it's just a one mana Journey to Nowhere"
You cannot use Chained to the Rocks on your own creatures. It has to be on a creature your opponent controls.

I think few Assemble the Legion on sideboard could be a good idea. The card helps you a bit vs control decks, if the game hoes somehow to lategame ( since aggro deck should finish the game in, let's say, 5 turns or it's gonna loose in 6). But well, sideboard things should be set, after we see some decks in play, after rotation.

Thankyou emperorhaplo for noticing that about my description, the problem is fixed.
DannyG, I don't think I'd ever be able to cast Assemble the Legion
with only 20 lands in the deck.

which actually leads into my question, infinitemana: why so few lands?

I originally had 22, but people thought it was too many for a deck with a average cmc of 1.8. I have had no trouble in playtesting with the number of lands i'm running.

I'd say Martial Glory is the worst of your target spells. I'd take it out completely and replace it with Magma Jet which is already an amaing card, but will give you 4 more removal spells (it isn't a good sideboard card anyway), and it'll smooth out your draws so that you're not completely stuck with targeting spells and no creatures, or vice versa. Otherwise, great deck and cool idea. +1

I have actually been fairly impressed with Martial Glory . First off, it is only 2 mana. Second, it combos well with Boros Charm 's first mode. Imagine you have a first turn Akroan Crusader , a second turn Phalanx Leader , and a third turn Anax and Cymede . On turn four I cast Boros Charm and Martial Glory giving Anax and Cymede +3/+0 and double strike and Phalanx Leader +0/+3. You then attack with a 4/4 Akroan Crusader , a 4/7 Phalanx Leader , and a 9/5 double-striking Anax and Cymede . This adds up to 26 trampling damage on turn 4. Although this is a perfect scenario, Martial Glory +Boros Charm has won me plenty of games, so I elect to keep it in.

I would take out martial glory for dynacharge, its a cheap 1 drop combat trip, while also being a game changer late game.

Haulvern: I do like the idea of Dynacharge , but I don't wan't to get rid of Martial Glory entirely, so ill do a 50/50 split.
September 23, 2013 6:22 p.m.
Dynacharge overload doesn't activate the heroic, Martial Glory activates it twice.
I would keep Martial Glory , it's a 2 drop but it does do a lot more then the Dynacharge
September 24, 2013 4:50 a.m.
Because you get the same effect (+2) if you cast Martial Glory on Anax and Cymede and Phalanx Leader .
All creatures get +2/+2 trample and will keep one counter
September 24, 2013 5:13 a.m.
I think I would rather run 1 or 2 Legion Loyalist (replacing a couple of the Anax and Cymede's) than 3 or 4 Anax and Cymede Just to make sure that you always have enough mana to combo if you need to... damn 3 drops ;)
September 24, 2013 10:45 a.m.
I play tested this a few times and got mana screwed each time except once. good concept though...and too bad second effect of Boros Charm doesn't trigger heroic. +1 but you might need to rethink the land count
September 24, 2013 2:33 p.m.
And Martial Glory is a great addition to this deck, triggering heroic on Anax and Cymede and Phalanx Leader is a good one turn swing bonus
September 24, 2013 2:45 p.m.
Custom, the land amount is fine, I did some play testing as well, you were just unlucky. 20 lands in a 1.80 average CMC deck is good.
September 24, 2013 3:06 p.m.
This deck seems bad ass, i wanted to do something with Phalanx Leader and this just like made it clear at how op it is. lol

Wow! lots of comments and upvotes! After reading them I have two questions about what I should do.
1: Should I have Dynacharge
instead of Martial Glory
? How many of each should I have?
2: I think that Magma Jet
would be really great in this deck, the scry makes sure that I get the right balance of spells, creatures, and land, and I can use it on one of my own creatures if necessary. Should I put it in, and if so, what do I take out?

First heroic deck that I've seen and I've got to say, it looks pretty solid. +1.
