Lol dude, this is brutal

January 20, 2015 12:15 p.m.

Me: "Alright, alright, I'll play you. A deck that deals with tons of +1/+1 counters, eh? I'd like to see how many +1/+1 counters you can get on a creature. I bet it's no more than twenty."

Five turns pass.

You: "Haha! Hahahahaha! 'No more than twenty?' Try 16021728515624 instead! Hahahahaha!"

Me: "Hmmmmm... how about..." Hero's Downfall> "...this?"

You: "But... what... how did... what... counters... WHAAAAT?"

Me: "Next time, give it hexproof, man."

Despite the obvious weakness, great combo and I love it! Definite +1!

Yes I know its weakness, the deck has the sole purpose to create one huge creature! But for more longer-lasting fun, i added an sideboard with some answers to spot removal and other possible threats! thanks for the upvotes!

January 21, 2015 4:44 a.m.

That sideboard is a legit sideboard, as in you might really need some cards on it. My advice now is to take the extra step and put some of those cards onto the mainboard.

Why Elves of Deep Shadow instead of Elvish Mystic? Sweet deck though! My best creature ever was a 6,000,000,000/6,000,000,000 Fabled Hero, but that was like turn 12 in my 6000/6000 Fabled Hero? Me likey!, so you definitely win. +1! Wish I had some Hardened Scales and Corpsejack Menaces to change my upvote to 20!

Can you remove my upper comment? I misread the Elves of Deep Shadow. the elf is a great way to get BLACK mana. I thought it supplied green.

Hmmmm... And... How about Fungal Behemoth :D ?

January 26, 2015 11:43 a.m.

Krapak says... #14

Thanks for the suggestion, but the problem i see with Fungal Behemoth is that he needs the big hydra's to be big himself and he doesn't have counters on him so i cannot double them! The suspend is to pricey for just one counter i think...

Where are the Spellskites ? You need them for those type of decks otherwise your combo is exposed and pretty weak :/

abdulbaqr says... #16

I think your math is off. you say in the top that the hydra comes into play with 20 counters, but that's because you put the +1 in the beginning of the order of operations. that should come at the end, right? you do the 4x2x2 because those are triggered, then the hardened scales hits that for 1 more?

January 27, 2015 10:44 p.m.

Krapak says... #17

You can choose which trigger comes first, so you always want the Hardened Scales to resolve first and then the Corpsejack Menace. You can choose how they stack! So i still think my math is correct!

Aefinn says... #18

Referring to your Description: You can't play Corpsejack in turn 3 because you don't have any black mana in there.

January 28, 2015 2:26 a.m.

Aefinn says... #19

Oh, my mistake. Didn't see that the elf produced black instead of green. sorry.

Also, maybe Rancor for trample?

January 28, 2015 2:29 a.m.

Krapak says... #20

Tuskguard Captain mostly does the job and if they can remove the tuskguard, it is one removal spell less that targets my hydras! And the tuskguard gives all my creatures trample! But thanks for the suggestion!

Would the Corpsejack Menace double the counters on gyre sage the the turn it enters?

January 29, 2015 3:07 p.m.

Nox.LD says... #22

Yes, because in order for the evolve to trigger, the creature must be on the battlefield.

January 29, 2015 7:11 p.m.

Love the idea! +1

January 29, 2015 10:19 p.m.

Your math is wrong on turn 3, you'd get 3 counters not 4 on the sage. it might not see like itd change the math too much but because you kind of are using exponents that missed 1 keeps getting missed but multiplied as well lol.

Krapak says... #25

Normally you can stack the triggered abilities as you like. When the Corpsejack Menace enters the battlefield and triggers the sage, you can chose to let the Corpsejack Menace trigger get first on the stack, then the Hardened Scales trigger. When this resolves, you get first 2 counters instead of 1 and those 2 counters as get doubled.
