That's just it, exactly how you put it but your math or explanation is wrong. Corpse comes in triggers sage, that's gives him 2 counters, then scales gives him 1, this results in three counters. Scales puts X where X is the amount of counters (currently 2, 1 from evolve and then that 1 counter is doubled by corpse for a total of 2 on sage) so x=2 and gets +1 from scales. Am I missing something or not carrying an invisible numbers around?

You can choose how to stack the triggers. If the Corpsejack Menace triggers first, it will be the last trigger to resolve from the stack! Resulting in a total of 4 counters.

Yes, IF he triggers first but he doesnt here. Evolve triggers first as it is "when" and it's prerequisite is met. From here F you make corpse jack trigger first, which is what your telling me you want, you double the 1 counter and becomes 2, +1 for scales. I'm literally doing what your saying but your math is wrong. You need/want scales to trigger first and them corpse.
Evolve triggers, scales triggers giving you 2, corpse gives you 4.you cant have corpse activate first and get 4. Note the way your explaining. don't confuse me with arguing if it's possible or not. I'm well aware is possible I'm just saying how your explaining doesn't work out how you want it. It can be worked out to work that way.

Ok no problem mate, I asked a judge; "Corpsejack Menace's ability and Hardened Scales's ability are replacement effects, not triggered abilities. You can apply them in the order of your choosing. So applying Hardened Scales' effect first would result in two +1/+1 counters, which would then be double by Corpsejack Menace's effect." So it still gives me 4 counters if i apply the effects correctly. Thanks for the comments!

I'm not in your area, my judge said something different and explained to me what I explained to you. Now what?

Just to clarify, Hardened Scales will make it (n+1), and Corpsejack Menace will do n2. So you'll either get (n+1)2 = 4 if you get the counter from Hardened Scales, then double it with Corpsejack Menace, or (n*2)+1 = 3 if you double first, then add the counter.
Also you can choose how you wish to apply them, since Corpsejack Menace will already be on the battlefield when Evolve triggers. Both will go onto the stack at the same time, but he gets to choose how to stack the triggers.

And apparently putting a "*" will make the text italicized instead of showing as normal, but there was supposed to be some multiplication signs for "n2" and "(n+1)2" that didn't show up.

Good deck but your calculations are not correct. +1
The ability of Corpsejack Menace doesn't trigger if you play him (since he is not on the battlefield atm).
So you need to cut a x2 on turn 3 and recalculate:
- turn 1: Elves of Deep Shadow + Forest
- turn 2: Gyre Sage + Forest + Hardened Scales
- turn 3: Forest + Corpsejack Menace + 2 counters on Gyre Sage
- turn 4: another Corpsejack Menace + with mana from Gyre Sage: Heroes' Bane with (4 x3) + 1x3=15 counters and Gyre Sage gets another 3+3=6 counters
x3 since the Corpsejack Menaces don't stack but resolve after another but check at the same time. Both check: 4 counters means another 4. So you get 2 times of another 4. Together with the original 4 you get 12. 12/4 = 3.
I hope this helps.
Greets MA.

@MartialArt You are incorrect. Gyre Sage's evolve trigger goes off when Corpsejack Menace has entered the battlefield, which means that it's static effect is in play. This would double the number of counters placed on it.
Secondly, they do multiply in powers of 2. Corpsejack Menace's abilities are both on the same layer, but are applied one after the other. This results in 1 X 2 X 2, making it 4. If you don't believe me, look at the Gatherer website for the ruling.

i hate to kill your buzz but i have a similar deck, and that awesome turn 5 amount of counters cant happen that way because solidarity of heroes works for multiple creatures, but only once on each creature. also, having 2 corpsejack menaces out only triples the counters placed on things, one counter becomes three, not 4. and having 3 corpsejack menaces out at the same time would cause one counter to become 4 counters instead, they all double the one counter individually. 1 would be 4, 2 would be 8, 3 would be 12 and so on. try going for a turn 3 or 4 kill with a 20+ power hydra and Rite of Consumption, i like to use Bioshift + Corpsejack Menace + Protean Hydra to stack counters with. also, use kiora's follower to untap gyre sage or Vorel of the Hull Clade and get even more mana or counters

I run a green red deck with Heroes' Bane x4 and Solidarity of Heroes x 4 and some other misc cards and i've gotten without issue over 5000/5000 before my opponent either played something indestructible to block or made it so my creature couldn't attack or something. It is a terrible feeling.

Yea it can be a great loss but it's fun to play! They all have trample due to Tuskguard Captain, so indestructible wouldn't be a problem. And if you know they play a lot of disruption/hate, add some SB cards in!

Just checking, Lightning Greaves is banned in modern right? Is that a casual sideboard card?
May 18, 2015 7:13 a.m.
No it's not banned according to http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Printings.aspx?multiverseid=247337

One Oblivion Stone from a Tron deck turn 3 can destroy this deck. Doesn't target, just wipes all permanents without fate counters. Love the idea though
