Ah the combining of mad science with bio science to create mad-bio science! Lovely. I hope to see how you build the side deck.

Thanks! I tossed in Gyre Sage and cut Mana Bloom for Turn / Burn . Seems to be running a little smoother. Any tips on a SB would help. :)

Well I actually threw your deck together on MTGO for some play testing. I swapped in Searing Spear instead of Mizzium Mortars because I needed faster burn. Also I threw in 2 Plasm Capture instead of the Prime Speaker (and I cut out something else). Plasm Capture was actually a godsend and I highly recomend it.
The side board I threw together is designed for control and removal of nasty enchantments and artifacts. I'll post it later to see what you think.

Plasm Capture sounds good. If 5 mana Garruk comes back in M14 he'll likely get consideration for a drawing engine. Zegana only seems to come out as a 5/5 or larger about half of the time.

My other concern in Niv Mizzet. He rarely shows up, when he does he's quickly removed, or has little impact by then because the game is basically over. : I have no idea what to do with him.

Here's my current online sideboard.
2x Gatecreeper Vine which allows for more ramp
2x Simic Charm versatility and hexproof
3x Naturalize

Niv-Mizzet's the mastermind behind this whole thing. Yeah he doesn't dodge removal well, but Chromatic Lantern lets me burn stuff fast if he sticks around at least a turn. I think I might put those Simic Charm s and Spell Rupture s to use. Thanks!

Have you thought about Fog Bank ? It works well with Axebane and gives you a cushion for slow starts.

Really liking the looks of this! Love me some RUG and also been focusing on RtR block since I usually build on a budget. I would +1 but doesn't seem to be available option from my phone browser. Ill have to revisit to give more input and +1 later.

Thanks! I made a few tweaks to see if Chaos Imps might work out in here. So far I think I like it. 6/5 flying for 6, or 7/6 flying, trample if unleashed. Or 8/7 flying, trample that can block if I drop it with Master Biomancer already on the field.

I have. Might find room in the SB for it, as it'll be one of the most effective options against control.

I really like this build though. I have been thinking about doing something similar. A +1 from me. How does Mercurial Chemister do? He seems fragile.

He's a bit more reliable if he drops after a Master Biomancer , but he feeds the deck well. With Ral Zarek in play I can abuse him for 4 cards per turn, or take out 2 creatures if I have something to discard, or draw 2, then take something out.

Tried out AEtherling and think I'll keep it. Also put Zhur-Taa Druid back in, giving me more consistency hitting 4 mana on Turn 3.
@colez: Missed your Fog Bank comment. This deck's RtR block only until Standard rotates. It would help keep early damage away.

Ah, ok. Could you check out my take on your deck so we can compare?

Trying out this version now. Burning-Tree Emissary and Gyre Sage have great synergy, letting me drop Sage on Turn 2, Emissary on Turn 3, evolve the Sage, tap it another land and throw down any of my 4cc drops. Axebane Guardian also returns for additional mana and evolving Gyre Sage .

Looks epic! Have you had a chance to test it out? Results?

the more i playtest it, the more i think it needs either color fixing or ramp... i can't get up to 6 mana very easily and if i do, i usually end up too late in the game to stay competitive. Not sure what to recommend. In addition, the playtester on this site tends to either flood me or screw me in terms of mana, so i'm also not sure if it's a deck problem or a playtester problem.
June 16, 2013 11:08 p.m.
Axebane Guardian is only worthwhile if you have more defenders... otherwise he's just a 3-mana creature that makes only 1... You should replace him with Zhur-Taa Druid since, not only is she one mana less, but she also has the added bonus of burn. I think it's a no-brainer... and you can throw her in on turn 2 right after you drop your Burning-Tree Emissary .
June 16, 2013 11:10 p.m.
Yeah I wonder about the playtester sometimes. I can run a deck with 20 lands and get consistently mana flooded or 26 lands and get consistently mana screwed. I'll admit it's a bit janky at times, but nobody expects you to draw 3 cards and throw 11 damage at their dome.
@matbyrne: What I do get out of Axebane Guardian is evolve triggers from Gyre Sage , and no limitation on what color of mana it produces.

Hey, I really like the deck! I was scrolling through the comments though and I found one where you said, "Thanks! I made a few tweaks to see if Chaos Imps might work out in here. So far I think I like it. 6/5 flying for 6, or 7/6 flying, trample if unleashed. Or 8/7 flying, trample that can block if I drop it with Master Biomancer already on the field." I would just like to point out that that last bit is incorrect. You would have an 8/7 flying trampler that could not block if you drop it with Master Biomancer already on the field. Unleash doesn't care where the +1/+1 counter comes from, if the creature has one, it can't block.
