Thanks I did miss that part of unleash. I dropped it for AEtherling anyway, which dodges removal, blocks, and can slide out and come back even larger after Master Biomancer s hit the field.

Considered Clan Defiance ? with the ramp elements and all, it could be quite effective.

Yeah, no problem. And I'd definitely agree that AEtherling is a better option. Really like the deck! +1

It would make a lot of sense, but I've been avoiding cards with X in their mana cost as they'd be a horrible play for Unexpected Results . Not that Unexpected Results isn't a horrible play, but this is mad science we're talking about here.

I think you really need a 4th Blast of Genius. If that's the wincon then you want to see it every game, right? Love the concept though.

also if acidic slime gets a reprint 4 of him and 4 progenitor mimic.there's always some wierd goo left after a unexpected scientific experiment.

also what about epic experiment and goblin electromancer. i know that an unexpected experiment would not be good but still the thought is tickling like this goblin http://alteredcard.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/goblinElectromancer-760x1024.png

AEtherling , Niv-Mizzet, and the rare accidental Worldspine Wurm can also serve as wincons. 3's ok with me because of the amount of high cmc cards in the deck. I'd rather leave some room for things that help me cast them.

@MisterGman: I'm not really a fan of Gatecreeper Vine as it does nothing to put me ahead of the curve. All I get is a land in the hand and a 0/2 body that dies to nearly everything. Gyre Sage at least grows if not dealt with.

@wolthers: Thanks! Acidic Slime will at least find the SB if it's reprinted. I've tinkered with Goblin Electromancer early on, but chose ramp so I can drop my bigger creatures earlier as well. Epic Experiment kind of fell under the same scrutiny. It only affects instants and sorceries, and I only have 11 as compared to 23 creatures.

This deck seems a little slow do you pay life for the shocklands?

June 18, 2013 10:36 a.m.

Emrakool says... #12

Not unless I have something I need that mana for that turn. Otherwise I play them tapped, and try to save the basic lands for coming in untapped to cast something.

had forgotten that epic experiment only targetted socery and instants. and see your point on the electromancers.

Plasim capture seems good. But I'm also a fan of blasphomus act given its a board wipe and a Magor pain in combination with blast of genious. Good deck though.

this deck is pretty darn fun to play with, and its actually pretty effective too. Tested it on cockatrice and you won three games: 2-0, 2-1, 2-1. The games you lost was Naya Blitz and Spirit Tokens. Found out ur deck is vulnerable to flyers and REALLY aggro decks. I also found my hand stuck with Axebane Guardian, which at times was pretty useless, considering u don't play any other defenders. I suggest some counterspells or maybe even Ghor Clan Rampager.

I knew flyers can be a problem after testing against my Vampires deck, though I'm kind of banking on aggro losing some steam when Innistrad block is gone. Hopefully I can have this together soon for a little kitchen table action.

Axebane Guardian 's been in for evolving Gyre Sage and color fixing, since even with just one out it can produce blue or red as well. Maybe I should just run a full set of Chromatic Lantern ? I've been iffy on running counterspells since the deck just kind of wants to keep growing, rather than sit back and play control.

yeah, the Chromatic Lantern playset makes sense, much better man-fixing there.

Added a Legion Loyalist in for extra wincon. With Master Biomancer s making everything huge, being able to throw down a 1 drop that'll get all the +1/+1 counters then swing with everything else and give them trample sounded enticing.

emrakool been following this since my first comment. Still not sure about Axebane Guardian . Would say a playset of Chromatic Lantern would be better.

have u thought about the 4/4 flyer haste dragon that makes u cast socerys at instant speed?? a blast of genius at the end of your opponents turn seems very nice, plus you can keep up an answer for your opponent on their turn. plus the dragon can be a pretty reliable turn 3 drop with the mana elves from m14. and a 44 hasty flyer isn't bad on its own.

I would look at Predator's Rapport for some much needed life gain.

The biggest problem seems to be keeping aggro off my back until the deck settles in and gets going. Of course some ever-growing 1 drops like Stromkirk Noble and Champion of the Parish won't be around after rotation.

I've played it against RDW and B/R Vampires, with the latter being the tougher matchup due to this deck's issue with flyers. Usually if I saw enough removal or threw down enough blockers to hang around til Turn 5/6 then the games started to swing into my favor.

Could i suggest Frostburn Weird , i think it will help you with Gyre Sage evolve, and helps to stay alive until 5/6 turn. It's also nice combo with Master Biomancer .
