Master of Waves wants you to have a high devotion to his color. Try getting stuff out that has a double blue casting cost rather than GB in the cost

Double blue feels clunky and the options aren't particularly appealing. Maybe Jace, Architect of Thought , but I dunno. Making as many tokens as possible with one Master isn't what I want to do, but I'll update the description as to what the deck wants to do regardless of Master of Waves' desires.

Realmwright does not seem worth it to me. A 1/1 with marginal upside. At 11 green sources and 16 blue sources, you should be fine on mana fixing. Experiment One is good if you want another aggresive dude. Elvish Mystic and Sylvan Caryatid are both good rampers. If you want more devotion to blue Frostburn Weird or Claustrophobia are options. I just don't think Realmwright is worth it though.

it looks like your trying to use Realmwright to make everything Islands to increase your Devotion to blue. I don't know if I'm stating the obvious here, but that isnt how Devotion works. Land types are irrelevant. Its only the CMC of permanents you control.

But regardless, I would agree that Realmwright is out of place.

No, I'm using Realmwright to make all my Island tap for green and/or my Forests tap for blue. They add to devotion themselves, and are cheap to play.

I dont really understand what Garruk, Caller of Beasts is doing here lol :L Why not use Clone though?

Progenitor Mimic is a better Clone . And I can cheat the Mimic into play with Garruk.

Ok, some opinions. I like Master of Waves . However, you have to remember that if he gets hit with a removal, all his token's die as well. Also, he buff's elementals, but you aren't running any. Protection from red doesn't hurt, but if you aren't running elementals, and you arnt going balls to the walls devotion to blue for a token army, Master of Waves just becomes a 2/1 for 4cmc. Black is going to remove him quick. Blue can remove him quick. Green will just trample through, and white has a ton of damage negation.

As far as suggestions go, Aqueous Form is probably the best common in the rotation. I'm going to be running four of them in my deck, and I think that any deck running blue that isn't control should run a set as well. It is honestly a better, and less expensive version of thassa's ability.

Suggestion two is that you might want to run one less Thassa, as I doubt she is going to get to play as an actual creature as often as you want her to. If you are really trying to get her out as a creature, I'm gonna suggest putting in two of Bident of Thassa . Yes, it's clunky. Yes, you won't be using the activation. But, it's two more devotion, and your opponent will have to use removal on that, instead of something you care about more.

Suggestion three is to run only two or three Omenspeaker s. If she is going to be your only early game body, run four, but she isn't something you are going to want to see late game. I'd suggest dropping to three.

Last suggestion. Check out Meletis Charlatan . 5 mana, and you get to run two copies of Simic Charm at once. And he's got a pretty decent body for 3cmc. I'd def consider him.

Oh, also, check out Primeval Bounty . Sick sick enchantment, especially for when working with Ordeal of Nylea

I feel like Master of Waves is out of place here. I love Him and I also love Simic but the Master is a devotion guy. Garruk, Caller of Beasts seems a bit out of place here too, clunky even...I'd use Prognostic Sphinx to deck-fix and DEVOTE. If you focus on blue devotion Master of Waves will do some work and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx will get that Progenitor Mimic surfing along side'm in no time!

For what it's worth, here's my Blue Devo: Thassa Scraw Wild Water Kingdom.

+1 for Simic love though!

Oh, also, if you REALLY want a mimic on your team, check this lady out Artisan of Forms . She's only 1B, much much cheaper than Progenitor Mimic . Yea, you don't get a copy of the mimic. But you DO get a 2 cmc mimic, and you can change what she mimics. Just another idea if you didn't want a 6 cmc mimic. Or, just get rid of the Vaporkin and have six mimics.

Sixty3Zero says... #13

I thought Artisan of Forms was cool but the opponent can interact with her triggered ability before she actually turns into anything. Plus I have to devote spells to her to get her to do anything.

September 29, 2013 3:08 a.m.

kyuuri117 says... #14

I don't think that your opponent can trigger her ability. Unless i'm mistaken, "you" refer's to whoever control's the card. As an example, Platinum Angel . "You" refer's to whoever has the card on their side of the field. "your opponent" refer's to whoever does not have the card on their side of the field. As such, I think that only Artisan of Forms controller can trigger the ability. In other words, if you turned it into a 4/4 creature, if your opponent uses Lightning Strike on Artisan, they would not get to change Artisan's form.

September 29, 2013 3:23 a.m.

Sixty3Zero says... #15

No, I mean they can kill her before she gets to turn into anything with her trigger on the stack. If you change her into a 4/4, they can respond by killing it with Lightning Strike before it's trigger resolves.

I would strongly consider rplacing your Vaporkin s with Clone s. If a Clone copies a Progenitor Mimic , then the Clone also produces tokens. I'm not quite a fan of either Simic Charm or Ordeal of Nylea in this deck, as they both have better options. especially considering I don't get why Simic Charm is in here at all. The Ordeal of Nylea is sweet and all, but the two lands are not that necessary for this deck when considering how much scry you have to get to 6 for your Progenitor Mimic s. I would almost consider running 4 Bident of Thassa s because of how well it works with a large token army. Once you're built up, you tap down all their dudes and swing in for dead, or maybe, worst case scenario, like two or three cards and 6 damage.

Sixty3Zero says... #18

Yeah, the deck started with the Ordeals but over time Scry leaked more and more into the build. I could replace them with something else. The deck is slowly becoming more blue, and I'm okay with that. I like Simic Charm for nothing else than its mass hexproof ability to protect against removal. Clone could find a spot in the deck but I'm not entirely sure. Vaporkin is a silly card that shouldn't see constructed but I like it nonetheless for what it is--a flying elemental two-drop. I'm gonna tweak the list a bit and get back to you.

I've been pretty MTG deprived since coming up to college, but I'm gonna order the cards and give it a whirl at some point.

If you're thinking competitive, then you might want to look into having some cards with flash in here. You don't have any decent way of dealing with board wipes, and with limited card draw you really need to find ways to deal with them. I would personally suggest some Thassa's Emissary . They give extra damage and draw potential along with some cards to avoid board wipes if you use them as auras.

September 30, 2013 2:29 a.m.

I'd add Experiment One as more aggro, and Ordeal of Thassa would be great. It draws 2, adds counters, and is part of Thassa's devotion (until it's sacrificed). Good work so far :-) +1

Tidebinder Mage for more devotion? Would be a good sideboard card or maybe as a replacement for Vaporkin .

I would definitely also play Dissolve in blue decks right now.

Hey so after tinkering with my own simic deck, i've come to some conclusions regarding some of the cards. And granted, while you are running a blue based simic deck, and i'm running a green based one, I think they will still be useful.

As far as two drops go, maybe check out Scavenging Ooze . He's awesome, and you can use him late game for sure, he gets huge. Definitely get rid of Omenspeaker I love the art, and she is a cool idea. But, really, she just isn't good and scry doesn't justify using her over the ooze.

Vaporkin seems cool. Might have trouble with it until you get Master of Waves out, but cant really complain about 2/1 flying for 2.

After further thought, i'm really kind of not digging Temple of Mystery . I mean, it's just a glorified guild gate. Using it turn one/two, sure, but then the scry is useless. Use it late game for the scry, and you lose tempo. I think I might be putting in Mutavault into my deck instead, having 2/2 flyer's for 2 on demand can sneak win games.

Lastly, you are probably getting sick of hearing it, but Ordeal of Thassa is pretty darn good. Might want to find a way to sneak it in.

Anyway, hope this was helpful. I'd appreciate any idea's about my deck, Epic, Electric, Eso Ecosystem. I know it's much more green based, but i'd appreciate some discussion nontheless.

Also, as far as omenspeaker goes... if you really want a blue 2 drop, Frilled Oculus provides a 1/3 body as well with a much more useful effect. Or, as Murlochieftain pointed out, Tidebinder Mage would also be a better 2 drop.
