Surveil!

This mechanic is so cool. In this meta, it's basically a better scry. This is my take on an early-to-mid Dimir surveil deck that relies heavily on the synergies between surveil-enabled cards.

NOTE: I only have 2x Watery Grave but would totally be playing 4x if I had the opportunity.

And then our Instant & Sorcery suite entirely focuses on screwing around with the opponent's tempo. Our friends Lazav, the Multifarious and Quasiduplicate basically act as +3x and +2x of any other card in the deck. They're cheap spells that allow us to take more advantage of the enabler-enablee relationships.

• [1]: Whenever you surveil: get a +1/+1 counter.

• [2]: Gain flying and enable Thoughtbound Phantasm or Whispering Snitch or Darkblade Agent.

• [2]: Whenever you surveil: gain 1 life and opponent loses 1 life.

• [3]: Whenever you surveil: gain deathtouch, if you deal damage to an opponent, draw 1.

• [3]: Gain flying and whenever you deal combat damage to an opponent: scry 3, draw 1 from opponents deck.

• [6]: Gain flying, become a beefy 6/6 and enable Thoughtbound Phantasm or Whispering Snitch or Darkblade Agent.

.. oh yeah, and by virtue of resolving, enable Thoughtbound Phantasm or Whispering Snitch or Darkblade Agent.

Sideboard

The sideboard is pretty entertaining in an of itself, as it allows for the deck to completely transform itself into a more mid-rangey control deck with Disinformation Campaign, Hostage Taker / Ravenous Chupacabra + Quasiduplicate.
